Editorial review from Citysearch 1/25/2013

My dogs have gone to Puppy camp for over 10 years. I've never met more caring, wonderful people. I had a special needs boxer (who passed away about a year ago) who was completely unable to function outside of our house and the only place he was comfortable was Puppy Camp. They went above and beyond to make sure he felt like he was in a safe environment and I never saw that dog act like a ""normal"" happy dog, playing and enjoying himself, outside of my home. My dog goes home with the staff when I'm on vacation, also which is great. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to come home afterward.\r \r I personally don't feel like you need to overpay for some place so you can watch your dog sleep and sniff other dogs on a webcam all day. I just need to know that when we get ready to leave in the morning my dog goes absolutely nuts knowing it's time to go to day care - and when I pick him up he's happy and worn out from playing all day. Yes, scuffles happen between animals - I'd like to find a place that can stop that. I'm not bothered at all if my dog gets into a tiff with another dog or if someone there yells ""stop!"" to put an end to two dogs jumping on each other.\r \r I would never take my dog anywhere else and I would never recommend another day care. This is the best in the city. more

They treat your dogs like family! 10/12/2011

I have taken my two dogs, Chloe and Lincoln to PuppyCamp for the last 7 years. I couldn't be happier about my experience. The owners and staff treat my dogs like family, and obviously genuinely care for each and every one of their campers. My dogs know when it is PuppyCamp day and their excitement is off the charts! The come home happy and exhausted. The nail trimming, baths, and reminders about vet visits is just icing on the cake. more

A Blessing! 5/4/2010

I don't have to feel guilty about leaving my dog home all day. Very convenient to my work (University Hospital). Dog comes home completely played out and ready to chill for the rest of the evening. Pros: Convenient to downtown, hospitals and colleges more

Best Puppy Camp! 2/18/2010

We work downtown and it is easy to swing by and drop off the dog. Not in the best part of town - BUT - the converted warehouse they have is great! Huge play areas for the dogs, the staff is awesome and is great with the puppies. The outside area is blacktop/cement so they can play with water and run around without having them all covered in mud. Little Morgan comes home every night and is exhausted. They feed him lunch for us too and have even given him a free bath or two - probably when he gets into stuff :) Would recommend to anyone, wish I got to spend the day there with my dog. Pros: Clean, Great Staff, Dog Loves it, Lots of Socialization, $$ more

Puppy Camp is Great!! 2/15/2009

Puppy Camp is fantastic. We have been sending our dog, Bugsy, there for the past five years. We find the staff to be very kind, enthusiastic, and accomodating.True, dogs may get bites and scrapes while at doggie daycare, but the same thing happens at childcare centers. When our dog has been bitten or scratched, the staff always attends to the scratch properly, makes us aware of the incident, and follows up several times to make sure that all is well. Many times they have accomodated our busy schedules and taken our dog home with them when we have been out of town. Jim, Susan, and John are like family to us, and treat our dog as thier own. Puppy Camp is a great value for the price, and it is run by people who truly love dogs. Pros: Great customer service, good value, professional staff more

HORRIBLE! 12/4/2008

I would NOT recommend this place, either. In fact, I would say RUN THE OTHER WAY! My two dogs have been attending regularly for about the past year. Earlier this year, my submissive, male dog was bitten while under their care. When inquiring what happened, they told me they did not know; no one saw it. He needed stitches to close the wound. Today I received a call from them saying I needed to leave work to come pick up my other dog and take her to the vet because "they did not have enough people to take her". Upon my arrival, my dog, who is also a very laidback, submissive girl, was obviously in pain and had an open wound on her side. When I asked what happened, I was told "another dog's nail got her...you know that Weimaraner skin *haha*!" The wound most definitely resembles a bite mark. Obviously, they do not keep a close eye on the dogs in their care. Additionally, they seem to accept any dog regardless of any behavioral issues or not. No consideration of each dog's personality is taken into place when grouping them or even monitoring them for that matter. Cons: lack of professionalism, staff, direct care, oversight, and ability to help dogs who've been injured onsite. more

Would not recommend, staff is very nice though 12/3/2008

I recently visited puppy camp and was astounded at what I saw. I had high hopes for the facilities but the way these dogs are kept all day is NOT OKAY. Dogs love interaction with humans & other dogs, especially when it is a structured environment. There is ABSOLUTELY NO STRUCTURE AT PUPPY CAMP. Pros: Friendly Staff/Clean facilities Cons: Do not feel it is a safe environment for humans OR dogs more

Dogs love interaction with humans & other dogs, especially when it is a structured environment. There is ABSOLUTELY NO STRUCTURE AT PUPPY CAMP. When interacting with each other dogs should be separated in to proper "play groups" according to their behavior, size and any aggression issues. You cannot throw 75+ dogs into a large room together of all sizes and temperments and expect a positive result. I would NEVER leave my dog here for the day even if I had no other choice. The price may be right but this does not mean the quality of the service is up to par. I would consider myself rather knowledgable as far as dog behavior, health and socialization because of my previous employment and experience with all of these areas. I did not feel safe interacting with the dogs at the "camp" nor do I agree with the method of SCREAMING to end dog fights that could have been prevented in the first place. I saw at least one injured dog during my visit. I will say this, the staff are VERY nice & seemed knowledgeable but they are obviously CUTTING CORNERS for a quick buck. I say pay the extra money to have your dog taken care of and socialized properly somewhere else. Pros: Friendly Staff/Clean facilities Cons: Do not feel it is a safe environment for humans OR dogs more

never sending my dog there again! 5/31/2008

I don't know if the management has changed since the last person wrote that review, but I did NOT have a good experience there! My girlfriend and I took our dog there earlier this year, and she is usually very excited to see other dogs although sometimes scared of certain people (but very rarely), and she loved her day care in our old town, but she started getting nervous on our way there. We wondered about this, but then there were a few times that I overheard the owner screaming ""GOD DAMMIT!"" to the dogs and hear a lot of people screaming too, and I saw someone strike a dog behind the counter when he jumped up on the counter, and the staff seems sullen and not happy to be with the dogs. We stopped sending her there and we've been looking at other places to send her that will be kind to her. Pros: cheaper than some Cons: unkind to the dogs more

Best Doggie Day Care in the city 1/22/2008

I've been taking my dog to Puppy Camp since she was 9 weeks old, she's now 2 years. The owners and staff are highly knowledgable and genuinely love my dog! She knows the days she goes to Puppy Camp and I can hardly contain her in the morning. If I ever need overnight care, one of the owners or staffers takes her home with them and they treat her as one of their own. If you want to take your best friend to a place to have fun, expend alot of energy and be loved and cared for without worry, this is the place. Pros: Parking is easy, bathing services are inexpensive Cons: none that I can think of more
