AWFUL!! DO NOT GO HERE!! I spoke with this vet 4 weeks ago ,talking to him about docking my 10 week doberman's ears, he told me specifically what week to come and get it done when he would be old enough. So we made an appointment. I brought my baby boy in this afternoon to get his ears docked for his appointment and he tells me that I need to wait 2 more weeks before he can do my doberman's ears. Also, there wasn't 1 other animal in sight. He had NO BUSINESS.. i wonder why? He told me that I was doing this for ""my convience"" im not sure at what convience I get out of having my dogs ears docked up"" He was continuely was disrespectful! He has time to answer everyone elses questions because he probably has google in front of him because he provides no services to people because they know better! So take my advice ,and go somewhere else!!!!!! more

PARMA'S BEST KEPT SECRET "" GREAT VET'S"" 10/5/2011

I had one pretty sick little puppy. Tobie was so weak from vomiting and diarrhea he could't even stand up or lift his head. one of my co-workers referred me to Dr. Richard Vago at the Snow-Ridge Veterinary Hospital for immediate attention and care, so I made the call. When Doc heard of the state that Tobie was in, he instantly encouraged me to come in as soon a posible. When I arrived at his hospital, Doc was with another patient, but dropped everything to see my little buddie. After a pretty thorough examination, he suggested I leave Tobie for lab work and emergency care, since he was so terribly dehydrated and depressed. After about 3 hours Doc called me at work to give me an up-date as to Tobie's progress. He informed me that fluds were given and a glucose lavage was administered, he also mentioned that the vomiting had stopped and now that he was attending to the diarrhea. Doc called me again at home that evening and gave me another up-date, which was even more encouraging. Tobie stayed for 3 days and when I picked him up, I swear Doc had given me a ""ringer"" I couildn't believe how frisky and active Tobie was and as I gave him a small sample of food, he woofed it down and looked for more. The lab work indicated that he had picked up a virus of some sort and it showed low glucose and protein, due to the vomiting and lack of nutrition. After Tobie came home Doc called several times, just to see how things were going. You could tell in Dr. Vago's demeanor that he really loves animals and takes great pride in caring for them. I certainly am glad to have met Doc and will continue to sing his praises. Thanks for saving my little guy Dr. Vago I will never forget how well you treated the both of us. DANNY-J more

Best Doctor for any Feline Problems 1/3/2011

I just recently got a chance to meet Dr. Vago at the Snow Ridge Vet Hospital. I was referred by my brother, who had taken his sick kitty to Dr. Vago, where a diaphramatic hernia was diagnosed and repaired. My dilema was that my older cat had started to go into seisures and I was debating whether it was more humane to put her down or atleast see if there was any more

HORRIBLE MY RABBIT DIED BECAUSE OF HIM 6/11/2010

DONT GO TO HIM! I took my female bunny there to be spayed. He said to withdrawl food, water, and gave NO PAIN MEDS. I now talked with an Exotic Vetrinarian and she said You are NOT supposed to withdrawl food, and you GIVE THEM PAIN MEDS. Well I took her January 18th 2010 to get her spayed, and I found her dead January 20th 2010. I tried to get a hold of him, because I was getting concerned about her, But OF COURSE he was at a seminar, and could care less. I called them and told them that she died, because she had an appointment to get her stitches out. ( Which your supposed to use disolving stitches to prevent infection!) And they were very unsympathetic, didn't even send a sympathy card, Which my other Vet did That I send my dogs too! If you want to get your bunny fixed i reccommend Cross Roads in Strongsville. THIS GUY DOESNT KNOW WHAT HES DOING. He put me through hell because of his carelessness with my baby girl. DONT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. TRUST ME NO ONE DESERVES TO GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH! Cons: EVERYTHING more

A Doctor that you can actually talk to! 9/28/2008

I was having trouble with my female boxer having pups and called around to several Vets. No one would answer, even the simplest of questions, until I called Dr. Vago's office. He stayed on the phone for over 20 minutes answering most of my questions; then gave me his ""emergency number"" incase I needed him later that evening. As it worked out, my little Sheeba had 7 beautiful Boxer pups that night and I took her and the pups into Doc's place the next ,morning for their physicals and to dock the tails and do the dewclaws. Dr. Vago continued to be personally involved and about 5-6 weeks of age gave the pups their vaccinations. What I like about Dr. Vago is that he always gives me the (personal attention) that I really think is lacking in alot of other Veterinarians, he answers my questions, doesn't make me feel that I'm being rushed, and rarely looks at his watch during my time with him. I noticed that he has a nifty WEBVCITE, which is very interesting to visit....I'm listing it here, since I feel more people should be aware of such a great Doctor. Pros: VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, PERSONAL TOUCH, DOESN'T RUSH PATIENTS Cons: WISH HE WAS AVAILABLE MORE OFTEN! more

A GREAT GUY AND AND AN EXCEPTIONAL VETERINARIAN! 9/27/2008

i CAN'T THANK THE DAY ENOUGH WHEN I FIRST MET DR. VAGO, MY DOG HAD JUST GOT INJURED BY A CAR AND ALOT OF VETS WOULDN'T SEE HIM WITHOUT A SUBSTANTIAL DEPOSIT, UP FRONT. WHEN I CALLED DR. VAGO, ALL HE HAD TO HEAR WAS ""A DOG INJURED BY A CAR"" AND HE JUST SAID BRING HIM IN RIGHT AWAY. MY WIFE AND MYSELF RUSHED OUR PET,""PETTIE"" TO DR. VAGO'S OFFICE, BREAKING EVERY SPEED RULE IN TOWN. WHEN WE ARRIVED, HE HELPED US GET PETTIE INTO THE OFFICE AND HE GAVE A PAIN SHOT RIGHT AWAY. AFTER A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HE DISCOVERED THAT PETIE HAD A DISLOCATED RIGHT HIP. HE EXPLAINED THAT AFTER SLIGHT SEDATION HE COULD GET THE HIP BACK IN PLACE AND TRUSS IT, ALONG WITH GIVING MORE PAIN MEDICINE. WE LEFT PETTIE OVERNIGHT AND PICKED HIM UP THE NEXT MORNING. DR. VAGO NEVER BROUGHT ""MONEY INTO THE CONVERSATION"" UNTIL HE CALLED US THAT NIGHT ...TELLING US THAT PETTIE WAS RESTING PEACEFULLY AND THAT THE SURGICAL PROCEEDURE WAS SUCCESSFUL AS FAR AS GETTING HIS HIP INTO PLACE AND TREATING MINOR WOUNDS. more

DR. VAGO A MOST COMPASSIONATE AND CARING VETERINARIAN 9/21/2008

I FIRST MET DR. VAGO ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THANK GOD I DID....HE HAS BEEN A GOD SEND TO ME AND MY LITTLE KITTY, SAMANTHA! HE DIAGNOSED A RARE FORM OF LIVER DISEASE AND THROUGH MEDS AND SPECIAL DIET WE KEPT HER GOING FOR ALMOST 7 MONTHS. AS TIME WENT BY SHE STARTED TO DETERIORATE AND WENT INTO DECLINE...DR. VAGO ALLOWED HER TO SLIP AWAY IN MY ARMS AS HE ADMINISTERED THE FINAL MEDICINE THAT WOULD RELEASE HER FROM THE SUFFERING...HE ALLOWED ME TO STAY WITH HER EVEN AFTER SHE PASSED, AS I PRAYED AND CRIED AND TRIED TO MAKE PEACE WITH OUR MAKER. I STILL RTEMEMBER DR. VAGO'S WORDS OF CONSOLATION, WHEN HE SAID,""PERHAPS THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE THE MOST ARE THE ONES THAT ULTIMATELY MAKE THAT FINAL DECISION TO LET GO."" THANK YOU DR. VAGO FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING IN MY HOUR OF NEED I WILL ALWAYS APPRECIATE YOUR KIND WORDS, GOD BLESS YOU....DONNA more

DR. RICHARD VAGO ""ONE IN A MILLION"" 9/18/2008

I thought that I would just take a moment to commend Dr. Richard Vago for the great job he did in saving my soulmate and life -long companion Jake. My buddy was dignosed with a rare type of skin tumor that 3 other vets refused to operate on and reccomended that I put him down...I was referred to Doc Vago by my brother in law as a court of last result...I made the appointment and after Doc did an exhaustive physical, he told me that if Jake was his dog, he would give him a""fighting chance"" to try and beat the odds against Pros: REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF! Cons: CAN'T THINK OF ONE.... more

Unprofessional, unsanitary, unbelievable!! 9/12/2008

The whole place smells like dirty animals and cat urine. I brought in my cat at 8 weeks of age for a worming and his first series of shots. I set up an appointment for the cat to be neutered a couple of months later. I told Dr Vago that my cat was a male on the first visit. When I called to set up the appointment for the neuter he said he thought the cat was female. I reminded him that no, it is a male. When I showed up for the neuter he said, oh you're here for your spaying...umm no for a neuter I said again this is a male cat! I had my cat wormed 3 times there and treated for an eye injury. I stopped taking my cat here because Dr Vago seemed increasingly more incompetent and acted almost senile and I did not trust him to take proper or decent care of my pet. I got a postcard for a checkup that had been used and reused and had my name pasted on it over three other peoples names/addresses. My cat is now 2 years old and I moved out of state, I needed my records to have him treated by the vet here. He would not release my records and was extremely rude and mean. I had the new vet call him after he hung up on me and he told the new vet I hadn't even been there in three years and he ""deactivated"" my records even though I have receipts dating just one year prior, plus my cat is only 2 yrs old, you do the math. I called back several times saying that all I needed was for him to put my records in an addressed stamped envelope that I would send him. He said I missed appointments and he wasn't obligated to do anything, and the new vet said he could tell he was lying because he kept saying different things and putting him on hold. My new vet said there is no reason that he should not have my records and was shocked and appalled at his behavior. A friend had a dog treated by Vago that never got better, a second opinion confirmed he wasn't getting proper care the dog soon after passed away, the damage had been done. Please keep your pets away from this man! Pros: no pros Cons: Unprofessional, Unethical, strange office hours, unsanitary office! more

Great communication. All around good care and very competitive rates. Dr.Vago has always taken the time to explain things to us and never have we felt rushed or pressured or taken advantage of. Good job by all at this clinic. thank you all. Pros: affordable, years & years of service in the community more

Be careful 5/20/2008

I know someone who used to work at this place, and I have heard many horror stories about the Doctor taking poor care of animals and trying to rip off customers financially. Please be very careful if you decide to take your pets to this hospital. more

Caring, skilled veterinarian 5/30/2007

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Vago for over 25 years. We have had nothing but positive experiences with him and his staff. Our 3 dogs and 1 cat have been provided with loving and skilled care. Our oldest dog was 10 when we took her to Dr. Vago for the first time after another vet said we should plan to put her down soon. Dr. Vago gave a full exam and ordered testing. With arthritis meds and a special diet the change in her was dramatic-she was playing and taking walks and was her old self again. She had another 6 good years because of Dr. Vago's diligence in monitoring her condition. When the bad days outnumbered the good he was as gentle and compassionate with us as he was with her. She died in our arms and he was there as much for us as he was for her. Our other dog which we had at the same time had similar testing and her own meds and diet changes. She also had a full life and died of an aggressive cancer a few months after the first dog at 13 (probably from grief from the loss of her buddy). She went in for testing and he had to keep her over night. He stayed with her. The cancer was farther along than I realized. In the morning he kept calling me (I didn't have call waiting) and when he finally got through there wasn't enough time for me to get there he stayed with her until the end. His waiting clients understood. Pros: Skill, compassion, keeps up with latest treatments Cons: Talks fast sometimes more

Worst Vet DVM 3/20/2007

Horrible. When you first go to him he tells you how he and his wife decided to stay in Parma instead of higher income area, basically to help the lower income families. I think he's planting the seed in peoples minds that he is cheaper. Initially you think he is cheaper until you realize he charges for everything, even follow-up visits. He won't write a perscription, he wants you to come to office to get it where he charges 21/2 to 3 times more for it. He evedentily doesn't keep records because you always have to remind of what he did and he never seems to have your pets folder When I got sick of him and his practices, the clinic I wanted to go to tried to my cats records from him and he was impolite to them and then lied and told them he didn't do tests on my cat.. The office is small, dark dingy, there is only Dr. Vago and his assistant and they are only there about 19 hours a week. Total incompetent. Cons: Dirty office, never there, incompetent more
