We lived at 200 West. Apts. for 2 years. Even though they said they usually only raised the rent every 2-3 yrs. They were raising ours every year! When we moved out, we moved out of town and now they are suing us for $1,185.00 in cleaning and damage fees! They even sent us pictures THEY had taken of the apt. after our move-out and in no way is this price justified!!! We knew that we would have to pay some cleaning fees and agreed to pay $685.00, which we thought was very generous, but they refused. They are charging us for some cleaning that had already been done by us. Their so called damage is slightly smoke covered walls that could easily be washed AND a defective refrigerator plastic shelf that has no support underneath it! No wonder it cracked and I was told they keep these in stock! So, obviously they crack and have to be replaced all the time or why else would they keep them in stock! They refused to accept any of these charges themselves even though, due to poor management our move-out was a nightmare! We didn't have enough room in our truck for all of our belongings, so we had to call friends and family members to come and pick up some of it. We started our move on a Sat. and were still there on Monday trying to get everything out of the apt. On Sundays they don't allow you to move large items on the elevators. They refused us access to the elevators because 2 new tenants were moving in on Monday! When we were moving out on Saturday, our elevator was supposed to be locked down for our use only, NOT! Everybody was using it all day long and management didn't stop any of them!!! A new tenant had decided to move some belongings in early and he was getting in our way. No sign of management stopping HIM! We had to use 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS to carry boxes and items out of the bldg. that day! We are an older couple, both with health problems and my poor 70 yr. old uncle had to go up and down these stairs repeatedly carrying heavy items. Our son was helping us move and he was exhausted because most of the heavy lifting fell on him. He had to go up and down these stairs too! WHAT A WAY TO TREAT PEOPLE! We couldn't throw anymore stuff away because their garbage bins had already been overflowing on Saturday before we even started our move and they were still overflowing on Monday when we finally left. If we would have been able to have thrown away the items that we could not take with us or give away, then the apt. would have been empty and easy to clean. Which was our intention when we started on Sat., but with all the tenants and new tenants using our RESERVED ELEVATOR on Sat. and then being denied access to both elevators on Mon., we were too exhausted to do anymore cleaning! They had scheduled 5-7 move-ins and move-outs within a 5 or 7 day period and everybody was getting in everyones way. We still have to pay my nephew for coming over later in the week to finish emptying out the apt. once their garbage bins were finally empty! Management knows that every time tenants move out from there, the garbage usually gets overloaded. With so many move-outs scheduled for the same time period, they should have scheduled extra pick- ups on the trash!!!!! Again, we could have had it all done if their garbage bins were empty when we were still there and if they would have stopped everyone from using our LOCKED DOWN ELEVATOR! They also, should NOT HAVE SCHEDULED SO MANY MOVE-INS AND MOVE-OUTS WITHIN THE SAME TIME PERIOD. NOW, THEY ARE NOT ONLY SUING US, BUT HAVE ALSO SENT A THREATENING LETTER that I decease with my derogatory comments, LIKE THESE REVIEWS!!!! My statements are true and I will post my reviews to warn others of what to expect! My advice is don't just take my word for how badly they treat people, check out the other review sites and you'll see how many people are complaining about their excessive cleaning charges and poor treatment of tenants moving out!!!!!
