Sukee Kennel

The best dog we ever had, or ever will have, was a Sukee girl: Sukee's Glorious Zsa-Zsa (She was our 10 year old son's dog; he named her!) and she was the real thing. The most loyal, obedient, dedicated, intelligent and protective being we've ever known. She was like having our own, personal Secret Service detail, 24/7. She died at 13 years and 5 months of age, a long life for a German Shepherd, but not nearly long enough for us. She was gorgeous, huge and her head was perfect, but it was her expression that stopped traffic. We always said it would take three dogs to replace her- and so it has- though none measure up to the queen. She was a lotta dog. <3 more

We've had 2 dogs from Sukee Kennels; without question, two of the most wonderful dogs I've ever owned. However, our first died of Lymphoma at age 61/2. We took her through18 months of chemotherapy, where she maintained good quality of life. Fortunately, we were able to afford the treatments to keep our girl with us for a while longer. Our second dog, equally as wonderful, lived a full life and passed at 12. He had long time issues with fistulas; we had them surgically treated, and he had been on cyclosporin for 7 years. Managing them was difficult; he was on a gluten free diet and we cooked for him.......only human foods, salmon, pork sweet potatoes and vegetables. He passed unable to walk, with degenerative disc disease. We have spent literally thousands of dollars on these two beautiful animals, and did it willingly and lovingly. But seeing them suffer through all of these health issues was difficult to watch. I would urge Sukee to look closely at these issues that plague these beautiful, intelligent animals. Truly, they're wonderful dogs, but I doubt I would trust loving another. more

I am on my second dog from Sukee. The dogs are beautiful. Great temperaments, extremely obedient, and loyal. My first developed fistulas at the age of three. I spent over $10,000 on cyclosporine to extend his life. He passed at seven. We are still not over Kane's shortened life and suffering. Kimo, now seven, has just developed fistulas. We have put him on steroids and cyclosporine. He seems to be deteriorating much more rapidly than Kane. Both dogs started out with severe allergies and than developed fistulas. I feel I am a expert on this condition. I hope no one else has to go through this problem. The bottom line is, it is an autoimmune disease that is hereditary. Both dogs were or are on prescription food, steroids, cyclosporine and antibiotics. The real cost (above the normal expected expense of raising a German Sheppard) was an additional $10,000 to $15,000. Cyclosporine alone was several hundreds of dollars a month. I am not condemning Sukee Kennels, because at the end of the day we loved our dogs, but I am just letting you know my experience and the pain and suffering we had to deal with, in addition to the good times. I hope this condition is narrowed down to the blood lines that are causing this condition and are removed from the breeding process to avoid the passing on of this chronic and fatal health condition. It is a terrible ordeal for both the dog and his family. more

We got our GSD back in 2011. He is healthy happy and has an excellent personality. Great guard dog at our home however when he is socialized he is great with other dogs. more

Our sukee GSD developed lymphoma at age 3 1/2. When we notified sukee kennel, we received a response that stated they had no records of any of their dogs diagnosed with cancer and then attached a link to an article blaming cancer on vaccinations. Completely unprofessional and dishonest. more
