I work and live in the area and have been going to Kozue for a long time. This restaurant has changed many hands and is always busy, but their sushi is just average and their por...

Good Happy Hours Choices 9/4/2009

2 years ago, i went to Kozue for 3 times, i feel it is ok for me, but recently i went back to Kozue, it has " Happy Hours " from 5:00pm ~ 6:30pm, it has a lot of choices, and every dish costs US$2.99, and the seafood is very fresh, the restaurant is very quiet. i recommand- ( 1 ) Spicy Tofu- 3pcs ( 2 ) Japanese Shu-Mai ( 3 ) Spicy Teriyaki Beef ( 4 ) Crispy Fried Salmon ( 5 ) Grilled Mussels- 3pcs ( 6 ) Albacore Poki- Best Dish ( 7 ) White Fish Sashimi w/ Ponzu- 2nd Best ( 8 ) Wasabi Octopus. These are good choices from my recommanded Happy Hours Dishes. Recently they are providing fresh Geo-duck Buttered Saute, it just costs only US$5.50, also they have a nice roll called " Polar Bear ", it is half raw fish, and half seared fish. and their " BEST DINNER CHOICE " is ** Stewed Hamburger Steak ** for US$12.50 only, i bet u will be very full after eating this dinner dish. more

Not going back! 4/14/2008

I just came back from this restaurant and all I can tell you is DON'T GO! Their food is not really Japanese. I know it because I am Japanese. Their service is terribly slow....With the quality of food, I think the service should be quick! Who wants to wait for 2 hours to get disappointed? If you want to try some real Japanese food, pay a little more and go to Shiro's or Saito Cafe in Bell Town. If you can't afford that, go to Uwajimaya foodcourt. That's a lot quicker!! more

like their seasonal specials 8/16/2005

Kozue has a special menu with seasonal specials (change every 2 month or so). I like their recent summer special : cold shabu shabu whitefish. The spring special with Ahi Tuna amiyaki is also quite delicious. Their regular menu is quite extensive. I like the miso beef bento which has chirashi, spinach, miso grilled beef, etc. Portion is small but the small dishes in the bento all add up. In the end I couldn't finish the whole thing! more

pretty good, but not outstanding 8/5/2005

Kozue is a Japanese restaurant in Wallingford in the space that used to be called Ai. It seems to me to be very familiar, so I have a little bit of a hard time keeping them straight in my mind. The food is pretty good, but I wasn't blown away by it. Japanese food is far and away my favorite kind of food, but I'm so rarely impressed with any Japanese restaurant in America in the same way that I was with so much of the food I ate in Japan... more

Kid-friendly and reliable eatery 3/24/2005

I longed for a kid friendly, down to earth Japanese restaurant in Wallingford since the birth of my son. Musashi used to be my choice for a number of years , but the limited space and slow service make it a less than desirable place to take my 2 year old with me. The answer to my wish is Kozue (formerly known as Ai). New management expanded the menu items to a great length compared to what Ai had offered in the past. Regular Lunch / Dinner combo is a good deal and planty to share with your toddler. Udon is hearty and sushi is good. Kids get their own plastic utensil and especially chopstiks that are bound together with rubber band which can be loads of fun for those who are just learning to use chopsticks. more
