Hit or miss... 8/15/2005

The great thing about Sounds is that you never know what you are going to find... but that's actually the worst part about it too. I never go here looking for a specific title because I know I'll never find it. But if you have some free time and want to scan through the bins, you'll find some great deals. I've found plenty of good CDs here over the years and count Sounds as one of the unique music stores in NYC. Never had a problem with quality. Recommended. more

In you need a new CD... 8/15/2005

...that is even somewhat popular, you might as well just go sounds and buy it because it will be pretty cheap and they will almost definitely have it in stock. They might even have it used. The "other" sounds that was right next door closed. They would only put out like one cd from each artist and it would be locked in the bin. You had to "place an order" for your cds at the counter, like you were ordering a big mac. This Sounds isn't like that, though. more

Cd East Village Veterans 7/10/2005

I've been walking up the stairs to Sounds for over 20 years. When I first started shopping it was all vinyl now almost all CD. The selection is as good as whatever has walked in the door over the last few days as they sell used CDs. I've probably bought 100+ records and Cds here over the years and have never had to return one for scratches or poor quality. The prices are fair and every once and awhile I've gotten something I really wanted cheap. more
