Wonderful food!!!!!!

Food came nearly 45 minutes late and was cold. The estimated time was for an hour and a half for a delivery that is only 4 to 6 blocks from the resturant. If you are using a s...

If you want to go out for some good food... 7/12/2006

... then come to the Blind Faith Cafe. The food was better than most vegetarian-centric restaurants I've eaten at, and the atmosphere inside the place was warm and friendly, with lovely pictures on the walls and a cozy paint color. Fast service, and though the food itself was a little pricy, overall I had a good experience. more

#1 Fan 7/1/2006

My in-laws live just around the corner so we visit Blind Faith whenever we are in town. I look forward to it so much! Everything I have every tried there has been absolutely delicious and I've gotten some really good ideas for things to cook at home as well. My brother-in-law's girlfriend worked there for a short time and she said the the kitchen is spotless and the cooks take great care in preparing and cooking the food, which comes as no surprise. The baked goods are awesome too. They do a great job of serving vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. It is always busy when I've been there but I take that as a sign of what a great restaurant it is. They are polite and efficient about trying to get people seated in a timely manner. more

You Gotta Have Blind Faith 4/28/2006

You don't have to have food from this cafe I just thought the title sounds good because you gotta have that kind of faith in what you believe. Anyway, I have yet to try their Thai food, I look forward to it especially after reading some reviews. I do like their deserts. I have had their cake slices a few times. I think it's great that they offer even vegan style cakes. I am in Evanston quite a bit and think this location is great. A tad pricey however, otherwise from what I have tried, good. more

The food is AMAZING and all Vegan/Vegetarian 2/11/2006

The food is soooo delicious it will knock your socks off and then to know it is healthy on top of it! I used to go to this restaurant when I lived in Evanston and it was terrific back then. I moved to Skokie then Glenview so hadn't been back for almost a decade when I treated my daughter to lunch there. They've gotten even better than they used to be. The house tea they served was theh best tea either of us ever had in our LIVES and we are both big tea drinkers! The food was absolutely wonderful satisfying our appetites with healthy portions and recipes. We stood at the bakery section after paying our check and debated taking home one of their fresh pastries (they had vegan chocolate peanut butter cake, maple coffee cake, all sorts of granola and nut berry bars). What a great way to top off a delightful meal. My daughter had eaten the bean burrito, packed FULL of black beans, fresh avocado and all sorts of other healthy items, all wrapped in a wheat tortilla and topped with a sauce flavored with a fresh cilantro -- yum. Their brown rice, on the side, was cooked to the perfect consistency. I had the marinated tofu with Thai peanut sauce and although I would have preferred it to be a bit spicier, I found it delicious and satisfying -- a full meal even though it was listed as an apetizer. Our waiter was friendly and personable and put up with my daughter's embarassingly lengthy indecision and many MANY questions about the contents of each dish. (She's quite a picky eater.) I would recommend this restaurant to not only those out for a healthy eat, but those who just want something YUMMY! more

Best Vegetarian Restaurant 1/15/2006

The place really is the best. I have never had a bad meal here, in fact I have never had a mediocre meal here. Their quality is consistently excellent. Their service is good too, unpretentious but conscientious. It is a classy room, with good art by local artists on the walls and oak furniture and good vibes all around. I am not even a vegetarian, but I like to eat healthy so coming here is always a treat. Try Seitan if you are craving meat. Try their twig tea if you need caffeine. Treat your body, mind and spirit to goodness. Get some baked goodies on the way out too in the attached bakery. more

Great Vegetarian Restaurant 12/28/2005

Blind Faith is a wonderful vegetarian restaurant. I am not even a vegetarian but I love this place. It is classy, refined and I have never had a bad meal here. Like most folks, I tend to eat too much meat. I will never be a vegetarian but I know I will be much healthier if I eat more whole grains and other non-meat sources of protein. Coming to Blind Faith is a great solution. Try the seitan, which is a delicious meat substitute. Of course beans and rice form a complete protein, especially good when eaten with corn bread. They have beautiful salads here, frequently using organic ingredients. Enjoy the lovely artwork too. Try the twig tea too, both for alliteration and instead of coffee or regular black tea:) http://blindfaithcafe.com/ more

Looking for a Veg. Restaurant 11/6/2005

First, let me explain that I am not a vegetarian. In fact I dislike most vegetarian food. However, a friend convinced me to go with her to try this place out. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. In fact I even convinced my husband to try it. I thought the service was outstanding, the place clean with nice atomosphere. the only drawback was that it was a bit overcrowded and noisy. But we were there during lunch hour so that is to be expected more

Yummy vegetarian food 8/30/2005

I usually only go here for their breakfast/brunch but have been there for dinner a few times too. I really love their brunch, especially the chilaquiles but I've had other things that were also very delicious. I agree with the other reviewer that this place isn't just enjoyable for vegetarians - I'm not a vegetarian myself. I also love that they have the 'cafeteria' section where you can get your food quickly and get done quickly if you didn't have much time. For dinner, most of the entrees I've had were yummy, except for the bibimbop which I found to be rather bland. Well, at least it was loaded with veggies! The portions here are huge. I usually come out here with leftovers. I have never had any of their baked goods but have heard from a friend that some of the stuff she had were rather dry. I would try it for myself though. Oh, and their juices (carrot, orange, etc) and smoothies are great too. more

Great Vegetarian Food 8/8/2005

Blind Faith is quite possibly my favorite vegetarian restaurant in Chicago. First off, I was happy to see that they didn't consider seafood "vegetarian." Second, at about only $8 per entree, it was well worth the money...with fairly large portions. I have tried just about everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. It's in a cute neighborhood, too. more

Hearty vegetarian food for everyone 8/6/2005

Blind Faith Cafe is a warm and welcoming place with a bakery attatched. The breads and sweets are all made on site and they are all excellent. The food is very hearty and filling so lose the notion of veggie food leaving you hungry. An extra bonus for people with severe allergies is that they know what goes into everything. If you have a food item you must avoid, just tell your server and he/she will help you. Service is good, the atmosphere is relaxed. Parking can be tough in this residential Evanston neighborhood, so give yourself time to drive around if need be. more

Delicious vegetarian food, desserts to die for! 7/25/2005

A vegetarian restaurant even non-vegetarians would enjoy. I've been here about 10 times and never had a bad meal. The Mongolian seitan is absolutely delicious--perfectly spiced and flavored--and could fool a meat-eater. Crabless crab cakes don't really taste like crab, but a unique treat nonetheless with a delicous, flavorful sauce. But the real highlight is the bakery, which offers items such as cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, oatmeal fruit squares, maple ginger cake, pastries, peanut butter blondies, muffins, and breads. All delicious and generously sized. Vegan and non-vegan choices offered both in meals and desserts. The decor isn't much to write home about, but the food is the star. more

Fantastic Vegetarian Fare in Evanston 6/26/2005

I've been going to this place since graduate school and it always delivers. I am by no means a full-time vegetarian and at Blind Faith it matters not a bit. From the BBQ seitan salad to the aztec hash, I've always, always, always had satisfying, excellent meals here. Now that I've got a family it's great too because the place is really family-friendly. Strollers and high chairs abound. If you're in the area and looking for a wonderful weekend brunch place or a healthy dinner spot, you can't go wrong with Blind Faith. more
