Very Rude Staff - called me fat 1/7/2010

So, I've been here for 5 hours, ordered a side salad when I got here then ordered a wrap a few hours later. The guy just told me I'm going to gain 10 - 15 pounds while I'm here, and my wrap was served without the fries that came with the other people's wraps because, I assume, he thinks I'm fat. Hmm, I don't know if I'll be coming back. Thanks for making a completely inappropriate remark! Customers just love being called fat (and everyone else too, for that matter)! Plus, I watched the other guy who works there defend the skimpy portion of fish he put in a wrap of a woman who complained. He explained that she got the usual portion, and that the other woman got extra fish because he thought she ordered fries but then she changed her mind, so he left it in there. This is all fine, but it was his ultra-defensive tone that made everyone in the place uncomfortable. My wrap was okay. It's too bad one of the few places with vegan options in the area has such an unfriendly, aggressive staff. I'll never go back. Pros: It has vegan options Cons: Too bad the staff is completely rude and aggressive more

Ok... but nothing to write home about... 4/3/2009

I just left what was supposed to be a quick brunch at bushbaby's and my experience there was very ""blah"". It wasn't great, and it wasn't awful. My hot chocolate took like 15-20 mins, but was tasty, and the food took much longer. The food was ok. I definately won't be running back there for anything except the decent music and to try out the other teas and lattes on their extensive drink menu... The ""imported"" lawn furniture was not the most comfortable. No problems with the service besides the long wait for everything... Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

I beg to differ 1/5/2009

Wow! Where do I start? Let me start by saying that, for you to call it ""lawn furniture"" it is obvious that you know very little about good quality furniture. Every piece of furniture in bushbaby was imported from India and purchased at My Little India. The vibe at bushbaby is very welcoming and I find it hard to believe that the owner would raise an issue over moving a mere seat, when my friends meet there, we move seats and I have seen others do the same as well. Perhaps you moved more than a seat... did you try to rearrange your entire table seating? I can see that being an issue. You cannot just walk into an establishment and move around their table settings; especially without asking first. more

awful service and disgusting owner 11/30/2008

This place is a poor excuse for a neighborhood coffeshop. The first day I went into this place i entered with a friend and sat at a ""four top"" table. the owner came over and sceamed, yes, SCREAMED at us and told us that we should sit at a two top table or leave! WHAT? and, just so you know the place was completely empty! We decided to leave. ok, so I came back another time w/ the same freind thinking that he must have had a bad day.. Boy was I wrong. I sat down at a ""two top"" this time and decided to move my chair because the sun was directly in my eyes. soon after, the pscho owner sent the waitress over to tell us that we shouldnt be moving his furniture! this place cant be serious! they have uncomfortable lawn furniture, and an unwelcoming vibe. no wonder this place stays empty. this guy needs an attitude adjustment. I was actually excited to see a coffee shop open in the neighborhood. i would have been a great ongoing customer. hey i guess it is still bed stuy. sigh.... Skip this spot and go to the outpost cafe its a few blocks down fulton (1014fulton street) it has excellent food, coffee, service and its way more cozy and cool than THAT PLACE ANY DAY! Cons: poor service, rude owner, uncomfortable seating more

A must 3/21/2007

A friend introduced me to Bushbaby late last year and because of their good food, incredible mixed teas and great service I hold 75% of my meetings at Bushbabys. It is a very warm atmosphere, to get to is easy. It is a great meeting space and have pleasurable and conductive conversation. They support many of the same entertainers that I support in my business and it is great to see a business respect and uphold positive artists in their community. I can't deny I have been bitten by the Bushbaby experience. Pros: the interior warmth, the friendly service the food andbeverages. more

inconsistent coffee 2/10/2007

i bought some a lb. of kenyan coffee a day before xmas. i was hooked. it had flavor and caffeine in it that made me addicted. i went to buy another lb. a month later and it wasn't the same. no caffeine and no flavor. i've been putting in 4 heaping tablespoons in my coffee maker just to make 2 cups and it's the same result - nothing. when i spoke to the owner, he said there was no difference. more
