Dr. Merrill was rude, abrasive, a bully and insensitive. He handled my 12 yr old dog roughly. After telling me he could have an ultrasound done on my dog on either Tuesday or Wednesday, when he heard that I wanted a Tuesday, he yelled at me in front of other customers that it had to be done on a Wednesday. When I wanted to take x-rays with me for a 2nd opinion, he yelled at me in front of customers and staff that though I had paid for the x-rays, they were his and not mine and he wanted them back immediately. I went to another vet at Balboa Pet Hospital who told me that x-rays were unnecessary because ultrasound gives same info plus more. Plus, the x-rays that Dr. Merrill took included the mass in relation to the intestines when it should have been in relation to the heart. I wasted $150 on the x-rays that Dr. Merrill said had to be taken before the ultrasound could be done. I have a dog I have taken to this vet for years. He was scratched by the resident cat and I took pictures, no apology ensued.My dog developed a skin condition I took him and was told allergies and was told claritin.Which I followed after a short while not effective.I took my dog back he had severe skin problem. I paid almost 500.00 dollars and I was told a yeast infection. I gave the dog the medication prescribed.The dog never improved even got worse.I took the dog to The Bayshore Animal Hospital. AS his condition was intolerable.They tested him .treated him and he improved in DAYS!! He no longer wears the cone.I paid 500.00 for that . I was called twice in a week to check on his condition. Is there that much difference in tests or vet care? more

I don't know what they do to my cat when she goes there to get groomed, but they get her to relax and actually enjoy getting groomed in a way that I can't! They rock! PROS: Great with animals CONS: more

Dr. Frank Merrill and his staff make it easy for you to bring your pet in to be seen. The girls up front are always very nice and helpful. Appointments are usually very easy to get. more

Dr. Frank Merrill is one of the best vets I have ever been to. He is not going to give you some sales pitch and try to get you to unnecessarily spend money on your pet or products. He is gentle and honest and I felt very good about taking my cat to him. Having worked for a vet in the past, I know how much some can be jerks and force you to get vaccines or teeth cleaning when it's just a way for them to make extra money! Dr. Merrill is terrific!
