When i want a solid, old-style hamburger, i go straight to Burger Orchard. It's located in a store-front attached to the Encinal Market that appears to have started life as a diner in the 50s. The floors are linoleum checker board and the booths are plastic and ratty. It's the PERFECT ambiance for old fashioned hamburger.
Getting a burger is not fast because it's hand pattied, personally grilled, and assembled like your dad did it when you were a kid. And that's what Burger Orchard hamburgers taste like: homemade hamburgers.
