Good food & Friendly People!! 11/7/2010

Buona Notte's food was very good and & the people who work there were very warm and inviting. I'm from CT (where we have tons of great Italian restaurants) and I was in NYC for the day with friends. We went to Little Italy for lunch and came across this wonderful place. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We went back to Little Italy to pick something up and they remembered us from lunch and offered us a free after dinner drink. My friends and I can't say enough about how friendly they were and how good the food was. I know that you'll enjoy checking out this find in Little Italy. more

I live in New York and shopuld have know better than to patronize a place where a hawking vendor tries to entice people into their establishment. My mistake. Cons: Cold food, Bread, Wine, Presentation, all no Good more

Great food, fun atmosphere 8/4/2008

My girlfriend and I went here last Thursday night, and it was fantastic. We started the evening with the Peperoni E Mozzarella, which I thought was rather bland and boring. Not looking forward to the entree at that point, I had the Pollo Alla Sorrentina while my girlfriend had the Penne Alla Boscaiola. Both were fantastic. We regularly will try each others dish and we both thought the others meal was just fantastic. We washed it all down with a bottle of the house red, and even that was fantastic, as our waiter said it would be. The night was made complete when our waiter caught my girlfriend when she was heading back from the wash room and told her we could not leave because the guy at the table next to us was about to propose to his girlfriend. He played the part for the guy perfectly, telling him twice that his card was being declined until the guy pulled out an engagement ring and said it was all he had to pay with. After she said yes, the waiter treated the entire room to a glass of champagne for a toast. An unforgettable experience! You gotta try this place. Pros: Low key, great service, great food Cons: Yankees game playing on the TV....Red Sox for life. more

Absolutely Fantastic! 11/4/2007

My wife and I were in the city to see a play Saturday, Nov. 3rd. We had reservations for a place on Mulberry St. and when we got there there was no one in the place. To me that was a bad sign, so we cancelled and went over to Angelo's, but left due to rudeness which I'll discuss in comments under that restaurant. Pros: Food, service more

Tomatoe sauce boring and bland 9/27/2007

I ate here two weeks ago. The food was good, but any dish which had tomatoe sauce was ruined by the sauce. Their sauce was bland and a huge disappointment. more

Molto Bene 10/2/2006

Second time to Buona Notte... First time was on a date, this time was entertaining out of town guests. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night (4 of us), without reservations. Bread and water were on the table within a minute. We did have to ask for the wine list, but found it to have a good variety and very reasonable prices for bottles. The food was DELICIOUS and the portions were just perfect. We shared an appetizer and each had a different entree. All 4 of us were more than pleased. We will certainly be going back... hopefully soon! Pros: Great food, great value! Cons: No daily specials more

pasta with a side of bigot? 8/17/2006

Unfortunately, I won't be able to comment on the food given that we were forbidden to even step foot into the restaurant in the first place. My friends and I were prepared to enter when one very rude service person handing out menus denied our entrance simply because we were Chinese. He did, however, allow an Italian friend of ours to go inside to get a business card. Don't count on us ever calling though. Though it's not fair to judge the entirety of the establishment based on a run-in with one bigot worker, it definitely is an appetite killer considering Chinatown is just a couple of blocks away- you'd think some people would be more understanding. more

Not bad - for not having reservations! 6/24/2006

My husband & I were celebrating our wedding anniversary & happened to be in Little Italy when they closed the streets celebrating the World Cup. Bad weather kept the crowds away, and we were able to score an inside table for two at Buona Notte around 9pm on a Saturday night. Pros: Quick seating time, friendly hostess, excellent portion size to entree price Cons: Tight seating arrangments, appetizers on the small side more

not good, not good at all 4/25/2006

food is about the same as all the places in little italy, not bad for the price. the service here is awful, rude waiters, not on top of things, like filling a water glass, bringing the bill (the waiters job). I've tried it twice, not impressed Pros: decent food, price Cons: service, waiters, tip added to bill more

Delicious every time! 10/20/2005

The food is out of this world. I strongly recommend it! more

Don't waste your money! 12/16/2004

The food, service and seating was horrible. Most restaurants are not very spacious in Little Italy, but this was the worst I have ever seen, almost sitting in the laps of the people next to us! Don't waste your time or money, instead travel further into Little Italy for a better dining experience! more

Eh...OK 11/6/2003

Had lunch here. Baked clams were ok. I had penne with mushrooms, sun dried tomates, olive oil, and garlic. Was ok not great. Service was a little slow. The chocolate mousse cake was horrible. Not the best place. You can find better. more

From good to bad 11/5/2003

My wife and I used to love this place but then we went there on a Monday night and will never go again. The food is OK and I loved the rolled up veal but the service is horrible. The waiter forgot to bring the appetizer and wouldn't give us the check when my wife asked for it he kept offering more things, even after we repeatedly stated that we were full. Finally we had to get up and befgin to move towards the door to get the check rushed over to us. With so many other places within a couple of yards you may as well skip this place. Pros: food taste, price, ambience Cons: service, service, service more

their food has NO taste 10/19/2003

i ate here 3 years ago and the food was bad then. i thought it might be better now. it wasn't. my sister and i ate here last night. we actually tried to go to other restaurants in little italy but they were packed. buona notte wasn't and i see why. i had the bowtie pasta with salmon in a cream sauce and she had the boneless chicken w/ sausage in a garlic or wine sauce, i forget. my pasta was not creamy, in fact it was quite watery. her chicken was mediocre and we both didn't finish our meals. even though we didn't like it, we had our food wrapped to go because we were annoyed that we had to pay for such crap. weird logic i know. don't go there. more

mulberry gem 6/29/2003

recently ate at the buona notte and this place is a gem. from the time you walk in the door to the time you leave you feel like you are at home. the food is fabulous and the price is unbelievable. the owner, matt is all over the place making sure everything is in order. a great wine list and of course, once again a bargain. from the stuffed artichoke, fresh mozzarella, all pastas and some of the best veal i ever tasted, you are in heaven dining at this gem on mulberry street. try this absolutely fabulous restaurant, you will definitely not be disappointed. Pros: food, service more
