Awful 2/8/2011

Bad: the cut was TERRIBLE!!!! I have very easy to cut and style wave hair. three different stylists said that the razor bob would be the perfect cut for me, so I went with it. The result? my hair is shapeless and dull looking when blow-dried, and when I let it dry naturally it looks like a drunk college student hacked it with a kitchen knife. It looks terrible, and because they thinned my hair out so much with a razor there isnt a way to repair the cut without cutting all my hair off.. Improvements: Be honest about what cuts do and dont work for us!. Other: the stylist agreed at the end that the cut wasnt ideal for me. why dont you just tell me that to begin with?!??!!!. more

Volunteered to be a hair model for Bumble and I am SO sorry I did!!! 10/24/2006

My "free" haircut by one of the Bumble and Bumble "students" looks like something a 50 year old elementary teacher would wear!! Horrible! The hair coloring the put on my hair turned out like no color known in nature, more like circus clown RED and my hair was blond before this salon wrecked it! Now it will take months for me to grow my hair back so I can get a decent haircut and maybe 1 1/2 years before my color can be repaired! It has been 1 month and I still cry everytime I look in the mirror at their handiwork!!! more

Don't need to be at their model call at B&B to leave in tears 5/16/2006

After leaving my job with another hair salon, I came here upon an insider's recommendation for a particular colorist. I wanted to retain the color I had, nothing too complicated, no changes required, just a continuation of the single process I was going with at the time. The first visit was satisfactory enough. The second visit, I knew something was wrong halfway through, as a result of my experience in the beauty industry. I called the colorist over and he argued with me about it, telling me not to question him. Ultimately, I left with raspberry-black hair and lighter roots on top. Management didn't even want to comp the disaster, insisting i pay! After giving them my two cents, they reneged, and I refused their offer of corrective color. Thumbs down to the talent and the management both! more

Put down that razor! - I seriously believe I could have done a better job on myself! 4/4/2006

Its nice to be a hair model, you get a free haircut and free hair products. But when you have to sacrifice a few months to grow out a badly layered cut that was done with a razor you have to consider whether or not "free" was really worth it. I have gone to several hair modeling schools to get a hair cut from other companies such as Aveda, Loreal, Vidal Sassoon, etc. You can pass on Bumble and Bumble and go to these other places. These days most schools do offer these hair model opportunities and you need not settle on B&B. Not only did I have a bad experience but most of my friends, who have volunteered their hair within the past years, also experienced a bad cut. This leads me to believe they have consistently been practicing bad cutting techniques or have not properly trained their trainees. Hair cutting techniques change every year so its evident when my friends return from B&B's trainee program with a strange looking bob, a shaggy dog layered hair cut or even a short pixie cut that has been razored too high in the back. I just shake my head and tell my friends that I rather pay out of my own pocket for their next haircut if the Free factor of B&B is too hard to refuse. more

Not at all impressed 3/29/2006

I went for a model call at bumble and bumble and almost cried when I left. Although the cut was checked by one of the instructors before I left, I was unhappy at the time of the cut. I figured I'd go home and wash the junk out of my hair (that they put in to style it) and see how it worked out when it was clean -- but it was still horrible. It was so bad, that for the first time in my life I actually went back to have a haircut fixed. To their credit, they did send me to the professional end of their business instead of giving my head over to a student again, and the gentleman who cut it that time was much better and salvaged my hair as best as possible. I'd be afraid to go there again. more

Bumble and Bumble Model Call 3/20/2006

So I got a haircut from Bumble and Bumble last week. I volunteered to be a model for the long layer razor cut. The session was about 2 hours long and upon evaluation and confirmation that you qualify at one of the sessions, you get to schedule an appointment. The day of the appointment, I arrived to be seated and the friendly staff immediately introduced my stylist. Her name was Alex and she was to give me my cut. I requested bangs and she said, No problem! The time went by pretty quick. You get to watch the other 20 people around you get the same cut but with different flare to it. The cut is supervised by the "professionals of B&B" and are extremely knowledgeable. I enjoyed the experience immensely and will certainly do it again when the time is right. The greatest thing about it is that it's FREE! After you get your cut, you're officially in the database to get mailings for styling sessions and future cuts. Though these people cutting your hair are doing it for the learning experience, they are still professional hair stylists from all over the country.
