I had a horrible two year experience with this school. My son was picked on his kindergarten year about his hair the enite school year. He is african american. Because of the grade of his hair, i kep his hair in a style of (afo puffs). The students ridicule him and called him a girl. When I complained to the teacher I was told to cut his hair and the kids would not make fun of him.\r
* wrong idea* how about telling the kids to address him by his name and not his hair** Eventually my son became angy and began to act out in class. He went to school unhappy and the teachers claimed he did not smile..\r
1st grade was worse. His anger followed him to the next school year. His hair was permed and somtimes kept (corn rolled). Guess what he was stilled picked on. I recieved calls from the teacher to talk to him about his behavior and how he re act to the students . Well I did, last year I told him to ignore them, this year I said if someone h** you h** them back, if sly remarks are made to you say them back. Of course it was wrong for me to do but I have had it with this school ethics. I recived a call from the social worker about his attendance In Jan 2009 the call did not go very well because she contacted me at work.. bad move on her part. The point, if he miss so many day I would have to take parenting class, court order to appear at court... yada yada yada.. Well I got the point, in which it should have been made in writing than a personal call to my job. In March I was told to come to the school and have a meeting about his \r
BEHAVIOR well I showed up and the rude , unproffessional social worker Quensha Ramsey was there. The meeting was about his behavior not his attendance. The principal was present the teacher, and the counselor. During the meeting I was very upset because he missed three days after the discussion I had with the social worker in Jan, and she was not aware if he missed any days or not prior to the meeting. This p me off, because she was rude and spoke to me as if I was beneath her. During the meeting, I was told maybe his attendace was affecting his attitude, and that is why she was present, maybe because I worked long hours and was told to find another job so I can spend more time with my son,. Then they wanted to know where his father was. But they never addressed the issue of him being angy was because of the students in his class. I was told he pouts when he get in trouble and don't accept criticism. HMMM.. there are adults who do the same. And guess what he is still a child.. I asked for a solution and I was told I needed family counseling not him but him and I, and I was told to take parenting classes.\r
By the way my son is severe asthmatic and that is why he missed days from school.. and the social worker said "" my children are severe asthmatic and they never missed a day of school."" Now it is May and he has missed three day since March 1 for asthma 2 for the pink eye.. Drum roll....... A police showed up at my old residence and left a summons with my neighbor for preventing my child to go to school. I have to go to court in June and I recivede a call to take parenting classes as soon as possible....AAAAAWWWW I hate this school and when this is all over I will make sure this is posted in the right spot starting Today!!!!!!
