Always great service/food... best on the UWS

This place was awful, overpriced, and empty- gone by september is my best guess... its a second rate location about 100 off the avenue

Best Tapas on the Upper West 5/21/2010

It is hard finding a great restaurant on the Upper West Side that isn't full of themselves and crowded with people I can't stand. Great restaurants that have great food at affordable prices on the UWS tend to be packed and the lines are normally out the door. You know who you are Celeste. Your head is so gassed. So when I found this place hidden on one of the side streets, I felt like the first time I saw Starlight Express. Amazing for those of you who aren't in the know. Buceo 95 offers the most flavorful tapas in the city. If you squint your eyes for just a second you might think you are sitting in a trendy downtown restaurant...but thank Buceo 95 you are not. more

cozy 2/19/2009

I've been to Buceo 4 or 5 times, and I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere is cozy, and has a family feel to it, as does the service. The lamp chop is delicious, sangria is very good. Pros: food, ambiance Cons: none more

Great place 1/26/2009

My friend and I were meeting up for drinks and she favors wine, so I looked up wine bars and came across this one as part of a top 10. We met there at about 6 pm on a Thursday. The place had plenty of room but filled up as the night went on. The wine was great and so was the cheese. We sat there for about 4 hours and the service was impeccable. I definitely recommend it. Great for a date, drinks with friends, whatever. Pros: Great service, food and atmosphere Cons: None more

Hidden Gem (or tapa) 10/3/2008

My sister and her boyfriend were in town and we happened to stumble on this place on citysearch. The food was great, the service was equally impressive. The owner happened to be there while we were eating and he walked around greeting the customers, making sure everything was perfect. Our waiter was wonderful, but actually forgot my sister's drink. However, when we reminded him about it, he went behind the bar, made it himself, and didn't charge us. They have an extensive wine list as well, which I took advantage of. The wines were unique and delicious. Try the paella and churrasco. Amazing dining experience and great food to top! more

THE 'go-to' spot on the UWS 7/1/2008

Comfortable, inviting ambiance, you feel immediately welcome at this jewel of a spot. Brick walls convey coziness as do the beautiful French doors that open to the street. Wonderful wine list for every taste level. Tapas are delicious and are the perfect portions to accompany the wines. Super friendly ambience due in large part to the fabulous owner who makes everyone feel like they are in her living room. So comfortable that before you know it, it's closing time. A MUST for anyone on the UWS or anywhere else in the city! more

Newly discovered gem on UWS 6/25/2008

As soon as we walked in we loved the coziness of Buceo. The owner made us feel welcome immediately. Great wine list by the glass or bottle and the food was excellent. The hours passed by in no time sitting at the bar talking to other people in the neighborhood. I'm definitely going back!!! Pros: wine, food ambience more

Felt like a regular on our first visit 5/29/2008

I was so thrilled to come across a great wine and tapas bar in walking distance from my apartment. My husband and I brought friends there to celebrate a birthday, sat at the bar, and were so well taken care of the entire evening. We never felt rushed - we enjoyed our drinks for almost 3 hours and the time flew. We went back almost a month later with different friends and the bar tender remembered us immediately. He made suggestions, let us taste a few things until we had just the right bottle. I look forward to going back again soon. I already feel like a regular. Pros: Great wine list and drinks, friendly service more

Barcelona just off Broadway 2/17/2008

Exactly what has been long overdue on the Upper West Side - a hangout that still encompasses the low-key and comfy vibe of the neighborhood but has the chic decor and forward-thinking cuisine of a downtown trendsetter. Spanish-inspired buffalo wings and proscuitto-wrapped asparagus were our table's favorite. The creative wine list an unexpected, welcome surprise. Though it just opened, be sure to make reservations for weekends. However, hanging out at the bustling bar is a fun way to pass the time too. Bravo, Buceo 95. Pros: Decor, wine list, service/management more
