Creative energy abounds here... 12/29/2005

Looking for a place to hang out, write, read, meet up with friends, watch interesting, unique people... Bryant Lake Bowl (BLB) is the place to be. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. You might find creative endeavors happing in this favorite hot spot... an episode of Comedy Central, Trigger Happy TV being shot - without you knowing it, until after someone approaches you asking for your permission to show it on TV... IFP Cinema Lounge... who knows what other spotlight ideas and activities have started in this little dive. Don't forget about the bowling- what a fun night out in Uptown! more

Hipster dive and a 7-10 Bedposts split 8/17/2005

For all the 20-somethings, the resident hipster culture that shys away from Uptown and more toward Lyn-Lake and the Wedge, Bryant Lake Bowl or more commonly BLB is the everyday breakfast, lunch and dinner hang-out. In addition to bowling, BLB has a theater/cabaret and hosts IFP's Cinema Lounge. In past years one might have found Josh Harnett hanging out here, dressed down and trying to remain kewl and unnoticed while everyone did. Rachael Leigh Cook was discovered here, while bowling, and cast into a local indie film that became her ticket to teen stardom and She's All That. Colleen Kruse regularly performed her comedic theater/performance pieces in the tiny theater and her On Tap series of short stories by well-known authors and performers. Weekend brunch of Amy's breakfast burrito with eggs, bean, guacamole, cheese and salsa and jalapeno fries or a Greek omelette with shrooms, spinach, feta are recuperative after a late night of partay excess. In the evenings you'll find tasty eclectic adventures await like Wasabi-Honey Mustand Glazed Ahi Tuna, Phad Thai or Ginger Glazed Mock Duck. more

cool hang out 8/3/2005

this is a pretty cool bowling alley and seems to have kind of that cool edgy crowd hanging out at it all the time. but if you're up for a good game and want to do it in that "in" spot then this is the place to be. it does get smoky in there (at least it did the last time I went, which might date me) and like any alley it is loud, but pretty fun. more
