My 78 Westfalia has been to several vw mechanics from san diego to Huntington beach. I has not been running right for over 3 years. After giving my westfalia to Jack at BRU it has never ran better!! I am back to driving my favorite car everyday again. I hope I dont have to see jack again for a while but if I ever have any other issues, BRU will be the only one to get under my westfalia. This is my first posting on and joined Yelp just so spread the word about these guys.\r more

The second time I brought my car in it was for a oil change and general inspection (as the car wasn't quite running right). They found the clutch for my alternator was going bad. They gave me several different options of what they could do, they gave their recommendation and since then the car has been purring like a two week old kitten. They even completed the work faster than the recommended time tables their book gave them, which was nice since it shaved a good chunk of change off the total tab.\r more

The guys are super nice so long as you are respectful, and I trust them enough to just have them do whatever they recommend. Jack is super cool, and extremely knowledgeable. If you have a Volkswagen, do yourself and your car a favor and go to BRU.\r more

Don't judge this book by its cover! BRU does not look like much from the street but Jack is the most informative and honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. Before accepting my car he told me exactly what he would look for, how he was going to troubleshoot, and best of all, he responded the same day (as he stated he would) with the results and to discuss my options. I chose to replace the alternator and his estimate (both cost and timeframe) were spot on. I saved over $500 for the same work performed at the VW dealership (Bob Baker) in Carlsbad 2 years ago! Goodbye Bob Baker.\r more

The first time I called them, my VW diesel was going into (what they described as) ""limp mode"". They were able to diagnose it over the phone, they gave me a rough estimate, and took care of the car in the matter of a couple of days.\r more
