Brockhaus Jewelry in Norman is THE WORST jewelry store, worse retail store overall, that I have ever dealt with! Not only did they call ME about an engagement ring layaway order my boyfriend had made (we had a couple months where money got tight and he hadn?t been able to make the payments, but as it was a layaway item and not a line of credit, there was no debt to be collected, the ring was still in the store?s possession), thereby ruining the surprise of it, when we went to cancel the order (since the surprise was gone and we were unhappy about the lack of professionalism of calling me instead of him) and get back the money my boyfriend had paid toward the item, they refused! They offered us another item worth less than what my boyfriend had already paid and said they were keeping the rest, $200, as a ""restocking fee"" for a ring that was never received. The manager, Brad, was very hostile, confrontational, hot-tempered, and borderline threatening (he even accused my boyfriend of telling him that we had broken up and that was why we didn't want the ring anymore). After over 2 hours of insincere apologies, guilt tripping by Brad, and arguing (during which I was the one trying to keep the manager calm instead of the manager trying to keep the customer calm) we finally managed to talk him into the alternate item and a small sum of cash. We will not be able to sell this alternate item for an amount that, when paired with the cash, would cover what my boyfriend paid toward the ring, so we have lost money in this nightmare. All we wanted and all we asked for was to get our money back (as we had not received the ring) and start over with a clean slate. Instead we were left angry and heartbroken over the entire ordeal.
