Worst

Ok I was there with a group of friends 10+ and the bill came up to $140. We are always told they can not split bills. They say there POS (Point of Sale) system won't allow it.. Ok...

My first mistake: Purchasing a ""deal"" through Restaurant dot com for $25 worth of food for the low low price of $10. For your benefit, I'll address the fine print about Restaurant dot com deals. 18% gratuity included, yes...regardless of the number in the dining party. My second mistake: Hoping for a non-offensive dining experience with my young son on Broadway/Capital Hill. The Broadway Grill seems to strategically hire in-your-face flaming homosexual types, and attracts this type of patron as well. My son commented on the high number of same genders paired at the tables. One of the waiters, fortunately not ours, was wearing what seemed to be his little sister's jeans, cinched so tight as to force his lower body fat upwards. To look at him made me feel like I shouldn't eat another bite. 'But that wasn't quite enough, he had obviously also pulled up his underwear to cause it to be seen above the waist of his jeans, yet still not quite enough to cover his blushing pink butt crack. My third mistake: Expecting at least average service considering the only moderately busy dining room. Wrong again. The waiter never followed up after tossing our plates on the table. When I finally flagged him down, I offered unsolicited commentary on the coffee, which was cooler than lukewarm, very bitter, and probably had been sitting for hours. He offered to make a fresh pot, but when he eventually brought a new cup, it was without creamer (as initially ordered). By the time the waiter responded to obvious cues for creamer, we were in need of to-go boxes as well. 'But why would he care? His $8.78 tip on my $21.20 bill had already been secured, thanks to Restaurant dot com. (Restaurant dot com forces the consumer to tip on the dining bill + the value of the coupon, which based on this experience, removes motivation of waitpersons to care about quality of service.) Oh yeah. My son had fish and chips and I had the lobster macaroni, and we shared the calamari small plate. The food was marginal to bland. Overall, I would not visit the restaurant again. The flamoyant homosexual atmosphere actually affected our appetites, and the quality of the food and service simply didn't rate. (This system forces me to provide at least one star.) 'Hope this helps! more

New Owners - Really Big LOSS in Quality 6/26/2010

I've eaten here before and generally enjoyed it, but under the new ownership there's been a really big loss in quality. We sat in the rear dining area. Combining the loud music blaring out and the other patrons talking we had to yell to hear each while dining. I ordered the cajun fries as a side for my dish. They were lukewarm at best, not crispy and way too salty. Cajun flavor to me does not imply salty. My partner got the calamari appetizer. They were dry and hard and not fresh and just plain sad. Finally, I was given the wrong credit card charge receipt with my bill. I had to listen to an additional 10 minutes of that noise before I cold leave with the correct charge. Pros: it's open late Cons: bad food, way too noisy more

Good Food, Bad Price 9/14/2008

I came here with two friends one time. We went in and were seated in the back even though there were several tables up front, and then were ignored for the better part of half an hour. Our waiter came over and brought us water and then promptly left again. Ten minutes later we found out that wasn't our waiter, just the water boy. Our actual waiter came over took our order and went about his business. About twenty minutes later he comes over and says he's sorry but he forgot to put our order in so it would be a little longer. Finally we get our food, and then didn't see our waiter for another fifteen minutes after we finished eating. I got up and went to the computer/register area where he was standing chatting to his friends and asked for it. He rolled his eyes, brought us the bill, and walked away. No thank you or anything. I know it's not like he's supposed to wait on us hand and foot, but he could have at least given us SOME kind of service. I will NOT be going back here. Ever. more

It would be the Broadway Grill. Fun atmosphere and great food. \r \r From the wide variety of people, to the louder than normal music and the foutnains to the bathroom pictures, the Broadway Grill is the epitome of Capitol Hill. \r \r The food is very tasty, but there are not many choices. My personal favorite is the Macaroni Au Gratin. When they seat you, ask to be sat in the atrium or up front as the back room seems to be forgotten.\r \r Overall a great eating experience. Pros: Ambience, the people Cons: The small Menu, and the service in the back room more

Favorite cheap place to eat in Seattle! 7/22/2008

When I want cheap GOOD food, I go here for Happy hour. I am a student and lived in Seattle my whole life so my schedule is all turned around from the norms. The happy hour is mid afternoon till 6 and any time after 10 pm till 3am.... 3 DOLLAR SLIDER burgers, HUMMUS, BEER, AND FRIES. I'll eat it all, it's so good. I love the people there too. The waiters can be really unfriendly sometimes depending on which one you get. I don't know, I like the food really... and service isn't that bad. Just ignore the tip if they are extremely rude and pompous. \r \r Pros: GOOD FOOD, COOL people, OUTDOOR sitting for the summer, Good happy house, Cool looking interior designing Cons: THE WAITERS more

Bad for the neighborhood! 6/28/2008

They should not call themselves a neighborhood grill. They are the worst neighbors I've ever had! They play loud music all hours of the night, now matter which night or how busy it is. The kicker for me was the night they decided to clean the outside of their restaurant at 1-2AM in the morning using a very loud pressure washer. They are horrible neighbors and I will never eat there! more

Looking for slow service, mediocre food and crazy expensive drinks? Go here! 6/25/2008

The title pretty much says it all. I would go back sometime for happy hour because the drinks are cheap during those times, but when we were there we got screwed. We ordered margaritas, they were okay, but we were charged $12.25 each for them! What is this, New York? The food was disappointing and bland, and the service was really slow. I'm actually fairly easy to please, but the Broadway Grill definitely missed the mark. Pros: Patio seating, location, happy hour drink specials Cons: Slow service, bland food, high priced drinks outside of happy hours more

STAY HOME! 5/29/2008

Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!\r \r I had decided to give Charlies one last chance a while back. Surprisingly, I had a positive experience. I even wrote a review praising the change. I TAKE BACK EVERY WORD! Appearantly the last time was a rarity. \r \r 1) ""WAITING"" When I arrive at the waiting area, I notice that the couple sitting next to me. They watched as the hostess passed by so many times it was as if they were watching a tennis match. My turn. Not only did I get the same treatment, but for some reason when the next person entered she was quick to greet him and ask him if he wanted a table, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!\r In fact; I didn't get noticed until I asked for the manager by name. ""OH, I DIDN""T SEE YOU"". \r \r 2) ""THE TABLE"" I thought for a moment she was going to seat me by the window, or at least at a cozy table for one off to the side. But no, we had to pass by all the desirable tables because none of them had beeN bussed. So, I got the large table sitting 5 feet in front of an occupied booth; facing into it YEAH!.\r \r 3) ""THE SERVICE"" After the waitress had a five minute conversation about the martinis the couple were having in the booth in front of me, she dissapeared(perhaps to the bar for one of her own?)\r Eventually she returned and took my order. As I waited I noticed people were being seated at the un-bussed tables that we had passed earlier. The busboy would clean the one that someone was now seated at but dissapeared before cleaning the rest. He would not show to clear, wipe and set a table until people were sitting at it..HUH?\r \r 4) ""THE FOOD"" When the warhorse finally brought the food, the real dissapointment set in. YUK! YUK! YUK! I was too disgusted to complain. I paid and left. I feel sick as I type this.\r \r DON'T GO! STAY HOME! YOU'RE BETTER OFF STARVING! NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN! \r \r I'LL STAB MYSELF IN THE TEMPLES WITH A CORK-SCREW BEFORE GOING BACK THERE! Pros: IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO WAIST MONEY Cons: IF YOUR HUNGRY more

Best, Easiest Choice on the Hill 5/3/2008

Broadway Bar & Grill is awesome. The food is delicious, the drinks are inspired, and the staff is attentive and sociable. I often get orders to go, and am always offered a drink at the bar while I wait (which isn't long enough for me to finish a cocktail!) The burgers more than satisfy, the house soup (chicken, broccoli, and black bean) is on a celestial level of divinity, and the prickly pear margarita was so beautiful to look at, I sent picture messages to everyone I could think of, then quaffed two with my meal. That has to be the best flavored margarita on earth. There is one bartender (forget his name) that my boyfriend and I adore, and are always happy to sit and chat with him at the bar. The soup, when a ""cup"" is ordered, comes in a cute little Fiestaware? coffee mug.\r \r My only issue with brunch is some of the other patrons. I'm sorry, but if you're going to mangle 4 servings worth of eggs benedict, and force other patrons in line for the buffet not only wait but watch, just so you can have the ham and leave the rest (yes, I saw this), you need some psychiatric help. Also, don't stand around chitchatting with your friend/boyfriend/whatever if you're already done getting your food. Other people would like to be able to eat, too. I also have to disagree with the reviewer before me (though it's been over 6 months). You should not expect a fresh plate for each time you go to the buffet. That's just wasteful and damn self-serving. Also, if you arrive early enough in the day (like before 20 minutes before the buffet service ends) there is no reason that the food should or would be cold. The kitchen staff is really very speedy in replacing the emptied chaffing dishes, and everything has always been hot, so no complaints from me on the restaurant's side of things. Pros: Food, Ambience, Service, Value. Cons: No parking, some patrons can be a bit too loud and boisterous when you're nursing a hangover more

Horrible service, Horrible Buffet 8/28/2007

I was super excited to find ANY weekend brunch buffet in this town and I was ready to put up with just about anything for all I could eat bacon, but this was horrible. The only high point was that the bacon was well cooked (many levels of doneness for all tastes). However, it was only luke warm, as were all the other dishes. The waffles were bland and stale (cold and hard as a rock!), the french toast could not have been blander, eggs were worse than at my college cafeteria, the eggs benedict were a joke - cold, and with a very thin layer of dried hollandaise sauce. And the worst part? The lack of plates! When we ordered the buffet, our server brought us one plate each. We had a first helping, and then stacked our plates on the edge of our table. Despite waving frantically over the course of the next half hour, we didn't get new plates until well after the people at our table who had ordered off the menu were done with their entire meals. What buffet doesn't provide a table of plates?! Especially in a place with such inattentive service! more

Stay for the drinks and higher priced entrees 7/5/2007

I really want to like the Broadway Grill. I really, really do. Sigh, although the drink menus is long and tasty, all of the entrees under $15.00 (except the salads) are just not that tasty and they are over-priced for what you get. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos yesterday. They were 90% filled with bland black beans, diced pepper and lima beans (!) barely any fish at all. To top it off, the entree costs $11.65! and does not include anything other than 2 bland bean tacos with a garnish of mahi mahi and some torilla chips. My friends who ordered entrees priced a bit higher (jirk chicken, seared Ahi, salmon and crab sandwich) were pleased with their meal though they still felt the price was a little high for the portion size. \r \r The long and the short - happy hour is good, drinks are great, food...well? not so hot. too bad. Pros: Drink specials Cons: food under $15.00 more

Took advantage of gay pride 6/25/2007

We went there Saturday for lunch during gay pride weekend. The restaurant wasn't busy at that time and plenty of staff. The service was pretty bad. We actually got our food before we got cocktails and had to ask for those. We order a Chesse burger. The burger was a piece of meat with some cheese put between a bun. It was the worst burger I have ever had and outragous price. The prices were raised because of gay pride. Could have went to Dicks and got a great burger for 1/5 of the price. I understand business, but for a business that would be busier than usual doesn't need to raise prices. I think for a restaurant that is supported by the gay community, certainly took advantage of us. more
