Best Bridal shop in SLC! 9/21/2011

They were so amazing at the Bridal shop! I had been to a couple bridal shops before this one and my experiences were very bad from the ones before. The staff are fantastic at what they do, very friendly, honest and they didnt act like they were better then me like a lot of other shops i had been to. the girls who worked there were always happy to be there and were always up for helping. my little brother had to come with me and my mom every dress fitting at they were so nice about it. they had given me tons of attention. it was sad to walk away with my dress all done because i had made some great friendships there. I had worked with Elise most of the time and she was a angle to work with me. She was the one who helped me find the dress and was there when i fell in love with it. I had sleeves added on and they were perfect. Thank you brideshop. more

you don't get what you pay for 8/3/2010

I had a wedding nightmare! I bought a $1300 Pronovias dress and received a $600 Atelier Diagonal dress instead, they said that because they are under new management there is nothing that they can do! My problem is yet to be resolved. Cons: Under new managament more

Amazing dresses Amazing service simply amazing!!! 11/30/2009

From start to finish I loved this shop!!! Kathy was professional, knowlegable and an over all great help in helping me pick out the perfect dresses!! I got a ton of attention and they made me feel like a princess! No one has dresses as beautiful as them ( and believe me I went everywhere!! I bought two dresses one for the ceremony and one for the reception. The dresses arrived on time, my alterations were done when they promised and I could not have been happier!!! Yurma made me look and feel like a movie star!! My wedding was at La Caille this past October and the entire staff at The Brides's Shop helped to make it a perfectly beautiful day! The Brides' Shop should be hailed as Salt Lake's premire Bridal salons. Pros: Best Dresses in town!!! more

I Wouldn't Go Anywhere Else 11/16/2009

I have nothing bad to say about this store. They provided the attire for my entire wedding party. My dress was absolutely beautiful. I was losing weight and had to come in for several fittings. My dress was always ready when promised and made me absolutely beautiful on my wedding day. Kathy is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and her staff is nothing short of excellent. I had one bridesmaid from out of town, and another who was difficult to fit and had to have some alterations on her dress. Again the alterations were impeccable and the staff was willing to work around my schedule to make sure everyone was looking their best on my special day. Aside from the bridal party, I was able to order mothers dresses, dresses for my grandmothers and all the tuxes. In total there were dresses for 15 women (including me), plus shoes, jewelry and other accessories. Not a small job but they handled it with tact, grace and an unmatched professionalism. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Pros: Staff, Selection, Alterations more

Best Designer Bridal Gown Shop 11/11/2009

Ok, most of the negative reviews I have read so far are all about the bride..NOT the shop. Get over yourself! Leslie and Kathy and Yuma are amazing!! I went with my mother in April and found my gown at a trunk show. They were so helpful while I was trying on all sorts of gowns and I felt like I was the only customer there when there were actually 3 other brides at the time. I ordered my gown and it arrived 4 months later. Went in for a couple different fittings (I had been losing weight, so I kept going back in ON MY PART to see) they didn't mind me coming in often to try on the dress due to my weight loss and when Yuma made the changes you would never know....fits like a glove. Just picked it up last night and I'm getting married in 2 weeks! One bride said she didnt like the buslte...well you told her to do it how the seamstress wanted...you didnt even see her pin it to give you an idea...that's your own fault!! Yuma pinned my buslte in a couple of different ways several times over and over so that I would be sure...she didn't mind and it came out PERFECT!! Leslie is sooo sweet...didn't see Kathy much, she's the owner, but when I did she was so nice! I would reccomend everyone to shop at The Bride's Shop. They have the best selection of designer dresses in the valley! Kudos to you Bride's Shop! Pros: Sooo helpful Cons: nothing more

DO NOT get your alterations here! 7/14/2009

I ordered my dress from here and had no problems. I ordered about 11 months before my wedding and the dress arrived maybe 4 months later? pretty much on schedule. Fortunately for me, I did not need any major alterations done. I probably would've stuck with their seamstress and been scr-ewed like the other reviewers. But I did need a bustle put in. I brought the dress in just shy of 8 weeks before my wedding. Told them I needed a bustle. Told them the kind I wanted, but said, ""i trust the seamstress to judge which kind works best with the dress."" you see, my dress is from an older collection (2006), so they've had it on their racks for some time. Meaning: the seamstress has VERY likely seen and dealt with the dress before. Well, over two weeks later, on a Thursday, I happened to call the shop to inquire about the status of the bustle (since I had my bridal party coming to town and I wanted to show them the dress -- boy was that a lucky coincidence.) She hesitated on the phone and came back to say, ""uh, it'll be ready on Tuesday"" I picked it up on Tuesday without ever meeting the seamstress or trying on the dress or even looking at it with the bustle done on the hanger. my mistake! I got it home, tried it on, and needless to say, the bustle did not work. The dress is lace on top of satin. The lace is not attached to the satin. So even I, a novice seamstress, knew that the lace had to be attached to the satin in order for both layers to pull up properly with the bustle. But instead, I think the seamstress did a rush job on Monday and just sewed in two basic pieces of ribbon. I was so pi- ss- ed and now had less than 5 weeks til my wedding. I instantly called the Silver Needle, without even bothering to try to go back to the Brides Shop, and she did the right work for $2 more in less than 3 weeks. She repeatedly exclaimed at how bad the work was by the Brides Shop and was particularly amazed since BRIDAL ALTERATIONS are WHAT THEY DO! I agreed. You only had to hang the dress on a hanger and do up the bustle to see that it didn't work at all -- that the lace was just all over the place. Which means, they didn't check their work. They didn't need someone to try it on -- they could've seen it on a hanger. Anyway, I haven't even bothered to go back there to complain. I don't even care about the money ($24) in the grand scheme of things. But if I hadn't checked, I wouldn't have known they did a sh -tty job til my wedding. I also found the veils overpriced. I had to pay an extra $100 for my dress (for extra length, which was fine). When I picked up the dress, I told them I wanted to pay for the extra length. And I ordered the veil at the same time. I paid $176. I assumed that meant the veil was like $70. Boy, was I wrong. I got a call months later telling me I still owed them $100. When I went in, they told me the $176 was for the veil. I was horrified. When I said I had told them I wanted to pay the $100 when I picked up the dress and no one EVER told me how much the veil was and I NEVER would've paid that much, they just shrugged. No apology. I realize that veils can be expensive in places, however, I bought a plain tulle fingertip length veil that I could've bought from one of these locals seamstresses for $60. Seriously -- go to the Bridal show and you will find small independent seamstresses offering veils for 1/3 of that price. I was pi - ssed. Pros: nice selection of dresses Cons: poor workmanship, customer service more

It always sunny here! 10/11/2008

We just had wedding in August and bought our exquisite bridal gown from The Brides' Shop. The 3/4 length\r sleeves that were added and the additional beading turned out beautifully. The seamstress Yrma did a\r fabulous job and my gown was everything I expected it would be. The flower girls and the bridesmaids\r alterations made for a very big job, especially since we live out of state. They worked very carefully with\r us to schedule fittings when we were available The staff was so good to us and made for a very stress\r free day. Pros: location, parking, selection, tuxedo, and great experience Cons: Rental on the slips more

Incredible Experience 10/11/2008

Buying my gown from The Brides' Shop was an incredible experience. I ordered my gown on a rush because I\r was planning my wedding in a short time. It turned out to be my favorite thing about my wedding (except my\r husband). My gown came in on time and the alterations were perfect. People continue to comment about\r my beautiful dress. I have deep gratitude to The Brides' Shop and all their attention to detail they gave me\r which made my wedding day worry free. Pros: Beautiful selection of dresses, friendly and helpful staff, alterations, accessories Cons: Saturday hours, wished they were open later. more

Horrible all the way around! 10/3/2008

In reading the other reviews, I found that my experience is linked to the review in May. I am the bride that this dress shop ruined my dress 2 days before my wedding. I was lied to, my parents were lied to and my bridesmaids were lied to about where my dress was and what was going on with it. They just kept telling us they were behind and needed a little more time with my dress (again 2 days before my wedding). The truth was that they tore my dress and then they could not find my dress or the seamstress who was supposed to be fixing it. On Friday the day before my wedding, my mom was wondering if we needed to start looking for a new dress, they still had no answers on where my dress was and if we would ever get it back. We were given the run around for 2 days and it completely ruined my parent days building up to my wedding, because they were afraid I would not be walking down the aisle in the wedding dress of my dreams. 10:00pm on Friday we received my dress, it had not be cleaned and had not been steamed? but the most unfortunate part it had not been altered!! All she had done was sewn in my straps. My dress was one size too big for me from the get go, that is why I brought it to this shop 6 months before my wedding, to make sure they would have plenty of time to do my fittings and alterations. This store ruined my dress and ruined me being able to feel beautiful on my wedding day. I was pulling on my dress all day trying to keep it up. I have pictures that you can see the gap between my skin and the dress? Neither my family nor I even received an apology? yet they had no problem keeping my money. Please, no bride should have to feel anything less than beautiful on her wedding day. If you do not want that taken from you do not step one foot in this store! Cons: Horrible service! more

Best Selection in town!! 9/17/2008

I searched the valley everywhere for a dress and luckily i found myself at the charming boutique bridal store called ""The Brides Shop"". From the minute i walked in and saw there selection i new i was in a higher end shop. There selection consisted of mid to High end dresses at prices that were lower than other high end stores in the valley. Ask for Kathleen if you go. She is the owner and is there everyday. She is very helpful and very sweet!! The alterations lady Yarema (I think was here name) is amazing!! The dress i fell in love with wasn't a perfect fit. She rebuilt the sleeves(temple wedding) and had to let out a little, im between sizes. The dress was ready well before my Bridal's and They even had it professionally pressed before my wedding. My husband and the groomsmen also were able to be fitted for thier tuxedos, They looked so handsome!! My overall expierence with The Brides shop was a 10. I would recommend them to anyone!! Pros: Charming atmasphere, very accomadating more

great experience 8/29/2008

This shop has unbelievably beautiful dresses and the owner was wonderful. The minute I walked in she said, ""I have a dress for you"". She brought it out from the back still wrapped because it had just come in. I chose a few dresses to try but the one that she picked was perfect. The dress was ordered and came in on time. I had two fittings. The dress would have worked after the first one but the seamstress had a good suggestion to make the dress even better. I picked it up today and am thrilled with it. It fits as if it had been designed just for me. The seamstress did a beautiful job. In addition to the alterations on the dress, they added some of the extra fabric from the dress to the comb of the veil to make it match better than the ribbon that had come on it. They did it creatively and in keeping with the style of the dress. Trust them on style. They know what they're doing. I'm going to feel like a movie star on my wedding day because the dress makes me look exactly like I've always wanted to. more

Nice dresses!, some staff members are snotty but not all, be prepared for MANY ""final"" fittings 7/11/2008

The Bride's Shop has the Pronovias line of wedding dresses, which are just gorgeous. I am very happy with my dress. The owner (Kathy), JoAnn (sales), and Yrma (alterations) are all very nice. But there are two other ladies that work there that are very snotty and just argue with you if you bring up the slightest concern about anything! I hated the way they treated me.\r \r I ran into some problems with alterations, though. They kept telling me that ""next time"" would be my final fitting, but then I would come back and they would not have worked on the dress AT ALL, even though we had talked very specifically about what needed to be done. When this kept happening, I started calling the store before I took the time to come in. I'd have them promise me that they had worked on it this time, and they would say ""yes, it's done"" and then we would get there and it would not be done at all! \r \r So that was crazy, but despite the problems, I still can come away saying that Yrma is a very nice person who does a great job on the alterations when she finally does them. \r \r I ordered my dress about 7 months before the wedding, so I was able to keep my cool about having to wait yet another week and another week for my dress to be done. But if you are in a hurry and only have a few months, you may want to think twice about getting your dress from here. There were quite a few times when I was in the store that there were angry customers there who needed a dress and claimed they had been promised it would already be in. But in many ways I think the store is at the mercy of the designer, so it's not completely their fault. Pros: pretty little shop, love the pronovias dresses they have, some of the people are very nice Cons: some of the staff members are snotty and rude, they tell you your dress has been worked on when it has not more

Lies and bad business 5/17/2008

If someone were to have asked me two months ago if I recommended buying a wedding dress at The Bride's shop I would have said yes. After trying on only 3 dresses here, I found the perfect dress. I put 1000 down on the dress. Things started to go wrong when the dress came in and I had to go in for fittings. When it came time for my final fitting I drove the 50 miles up to SLC only to be called 15 minutes before the appointment by the shop telling me they had to reschedule. They rescheduled for the next day only to do the exact same thing that day. They called 25 minutes before the appointment, and by that time I was only 10 miles away. I tried to be patient and understanding as they told me the seamstress was really ill. They rescheduled for the following day and I drove up there for a 3rd time (without receiving a phone call) only to be informed once I reached the shop that they had forgotten to call me and had to reschedule because of a ""medical emergency"". This was the third time in 3 days I had to make that drive (100 miles roundtrip everytime). It was a waste of my gas and time. I complained louder this time, only to be met with a bad attitude and not a single apology. I finally got my dress on my 4th trip in 4 days and when I finally had the fitting, the seamstress told me the shop had lied to me, there was no medical emergency but instead they had ruined another girl's dress two days before her wedding and were scrambling to fix it, neglecting me and my dress in the process. The only person to apologize at all during this whole thing was the seamstress. Only after filing yet another complaint did I receive a veil as a compensation for driving 400 miles and spending 145 dollars on gas. Pros: beautiful dresses Cons: horrible business ethics more

Best selection of Desginer Dresses 5/13/2008

I had been to three other bridal stores in town. None of them had the dress I was looking for nor did they have a line of dresses I was remotely interested in. At the Bride's Shop the minute I walked in I saw the dress I wanted, well the dress I thought I wanted until I looked around some more. I wanted all of them. Their high end designer dresses were just what I was looking for. \r \r I was impressed with their care, knowledge, and professionalism. I wasn't treated like just another customer. They helped me pick out dresses and carry them to the changing room. I loved their suggestions, they knew a great deal of what would be perfect for me, for my body type, curves, skin, hair, etc. They knew exactly how my dress should fit. In the end my dress made me look amazing. \r \r I couldn't thank them more for all their help. My wedding was a dream come true! Pros: Designer dresses, selection, speedy dress shipping, and knowledgeable staff. Cons: Pricey but worth every dime. more

Bride?s Shop of Horrors 5/6/2008

I would never recommend this store. I fell in love with a $2,000 Pronovias gown. We put half down on the dress, and was promised that the dress would be in in three months. They also said they would call once they had ordered it. Well, two and a half months went by, and I never received the call saying that the store had order it. So I had my mom look up their number, on this website, and we happened to find numerous (as you can see) horror stories about the shop. We became a bit nervous, but decide to wait the last two weeks before calling. Two weeks later I called and inquired about my dress. The girl on the other end tells me that my dress will be in in another month. When I called back a month later, the same girl looked up my name and told me my dress was going to be SHIPPED at the end of that month and that ?there is nothing I can do about it!? I told her that I had seen the bad reviews online, and have already decided not to have my alterations done by them, and that I was starting to wonder if I was going to need to ask for a refund. She then, snotty again, reported that unfortunately I had signed a contract that stated that they didn?t do returns. I explained that unfortunately when I signed that contract their was a verbal agreement along with the contract that I would get my dress in three months, and that the contract had been broken because she had yet to even deliver on the contract. Even though I had stated this calmly the girl didn?t know what to say and HUNG UP ON ME!!! Fortunately, she called back hours later and reported that she had called and had my dress rushed, and would be in the following week. I apologized for our little confrontation earlier in the day and she replied ?I?m just not used to being spoken to like that.? Like what?! Intelligently?! As understood by the law, contractual agreements are made in order to protect interested parties from being cheated out of what the have agreed upon, not to bully and harass customers. Pros: They have beautiful dresses Cons: You may never be able to wear the dress you order in pictures or at your wedding. more

Awful! 4/28/2008

I have had (and am still in the middle of) a horrendous experience with The Bride's Shop. Wanting something a little different and unique from the plethora of boring and ugly wedding dresses found elsewhere in Utah, I landed in The Bride's Shop. I won't complain about their selection of gowns -- they are gorgeous. But buying one and actually getting your dress is another story. I tried on *the* dress and was promised a particular size. When they ordered it, it came in 8 sizes too big. Like others, I was never called (as promised) when the dress came in. I had to call and track them down, and it came in after the promised date. The dress had since been discontinued, so there was no hope of ordering it in the proper size. Because of their delays and failure to communicate, I didn't have time to order a dress from anywhere else, or have one made as I had originally planned on. I tried the dress on and while swimming in it, the owner assured me that I just had to trust them and they could make it work. Well, here I am SEVEN fittings later with no dress. My wedding is in two weeks and bridals, hair appointments, etc. have been canceled. I have had three ""pick up"" appointments and never left with a dress. First they canceled because the dress was not ready, then the dress didn't fit, and now the dress is uneven. They've even tried to tell me, ""oh, it looks alright."" but I'm sorry, when you're spending $1200 for a dress, it needs to be perfect. I would avoid this place altogether. Or buy a dress there (because they DO have cool dresses) and take it elsewhere to be altered. What a mess. Or better yet, just go to Penelope's and have it made. It won't even cost you as much in time OR money and will come out PERFECT and exactly how you imagined it would. more

Absolute worst experience ever 4/22/2008

Like many of the other recent reviewers, I had an absolute nightmare of an experience with the bride's shop. The owner was very pleasant on the first trip out there, but as soon as I chose my dress and paid for it, she seemed completely uninterested in being even slightly helpful. First, they ordered my dress in a size that was absolutely too small, which is unsurprising, given that they never even measured me for the order. The dress itself arrived extremely late, and when it finally did arrive, no one even called me from the shop to inform me. I had to call in and check myself and was told that it had been ""sitting there"" for a week. Luckily I had ordered the dress with plenty of time. When I tried the dress on, I couldn't breathe or even really move my arms. Hugging anyone while wearing the dress would have been completely out of the question, because the off the shoulder straps were so tight that I could barely raise my arms. In fact, even feeding myself would have been difficult. \r \r When I expressed my concerns regarding the fit to the owner, she completely blew me off and said that the seamstress would fix it and scheduled me an appointment. The ""fix"" involved radical changes that would have completely ruined the dress in my mind. Still, the owner was utterly disinterested in my situation, and acted very rudely and put out that I would even question her choice in dress size for me. I was extremely upset, and had to involve a third party to get the owner to agree to order me a larger size that actually fit.\r \r Given my experience and that of others on this site, I would *highly* recommend avoiding The Bride's Shop.\r Given my experience with Pros: The dresses are gorgeous and the Pronovias line is amazing. Cons: Everything else more

Warning to All Brides: Go Elsewhere! 4/8/2008

My experience with this shop was awful. Only on my very first visit was I treated at all decently. After that, everyone was uniformly rude and dismissive when I came in. This was true even when I stopped by to ask when my dress would arrive because it was 2 weeks after the date I had been told I could pick it up. Keep in mind that I had paid a $50 rush fee to get the dress by that date AND that no one from the shop called me when the date passed to inform me of the status of my order. When I stopped by to check in, the clerk rolled her eyes when I said the dress was late and provided no information. I had to explicitly ask her to call the manufacturer and find out if it had been shipped. I finally got my dress, thank god, but the shop never refunded the rush fee or apologized for it being late. I could have purchased this dress online for less, but I felt it would be worth the extra money to be able to deal with a local business and receive better customer service. Unfortunately that was not the case. I would not recommend this shop to anyone and intend to tell any friends who are getting married to avoid it absolutely. more

Bridal nightmare! 4/5/2008

Bridal gown: I chose this shop because i knew i wanted a Pronovias gown & i ended up finding ""the dress"" my first trip there! They were very nice & helpful on that trip. After i payed for my dress in full each trip there became progressively worse. They got their money from me & decided they didn't need to use customer service skills (or lack thereof) anymore. My dress ended up totaling to over $500 more than it was priced because of hidden fees & small alterations. There is a particular woman that works here who is extremely rude & made very snarky remarks to my mom & I every time I was in for a fitting. She wouldn't even show me to a fitting room... she just pointed to the room & i had to take my HUGE dress out of the bag myself. When we asked for help she was very annoyed.\r \r Bridesmaids: We've had 5 times more trouble with the bridesmaids dresses than with mine. They ordered the wrong size for 3 of my 5 bridesmaids & actually had the nerve to charge them for the alterations for their mistake!! One of my bridesmaid's dress was ordered too small so she can't even breathe in the dress & they told her they couldn't let it out because ""it would ruin the lines of the dress."" They originally quoted me a certain price for the Jim Hjelm dresses & every time they went back in for a fitting the price kept rising. One of the sales people actually started arguing with a bridesmaid!!\r \r Bottom line: These people are the most unprofessional I've ever had to deal with in my life. I thought my whole planning experience would be so wonderful, but The Brides Shop has just made it nothing but stressful. They have terrible customer service, won't help you with anything without rolling their eyes, and it seems like they just order you whatever size they want. They just want your money & after you pay for the last of it they could care less if your dress even looks good!\r \r PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE & DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE. Pros: Pronovias gowns Cons: Everything else! more
