Brent-Air: Where everything goes wrong. 5/31/2008

Brent-Air animal hospital has terrible service. They also have horrible parking...there are no lines painted on the ground and i have gotten into a fender-bender trying to get out once. I brought my dog in a few times after moving to the area and while the vet was good, the receptionists constantly made mistakes in scheduling my dog's appointments. Today, after showing up for my appt, i was turned away because the receptionist had written our appt in for an hour earlier. I was not offered to be rescheduled and they girl basically shoved us out the door, as well as telling me its "not her fault that i showed up an hour late". A woman waiting for her appt followed me out the door to tell me she was shocked at how rude the girl was and gave me the address to another vet clinic where she would be taking her dog. Thanks to Brent-Air, my dog is late on his shots now. more

Brent-Air Animal Hospital is the best vet clinic in LA. 12/20/2007

Brent-Air Animal Hospital has treated all of our hundreds of rescued dogs and cats for the last four years. I personally refer my friends and total strangers to go there, as well as taking my own dogs and cats there for treatment. Dr. Schlanger, Dr. Oxford, and their bright, friendly and attentive staff have been caring and compassionate with the treatment of our animals at all times. If they can't do a medical procedure, they are the first to refer us to other qualified surgeons or oncologists. They also always recommend we get a second opinion if we have doubts about a diagnosis. They are hardly an "in it for the money" veterinary practice, in fact, they are just the opposite. They have taken in many injured, stray animals who have been dumped there, and treated them on their own dime. I know this for a fact as we often help them find forever homes for these very same animals. Pros: Smart, compassionate, and affordable. more

Dr. Kevin Schlanger is the Best Vet!! 12/19/2007

I recommend Brent Air Animal Hospital to all my friends! 12/19/2007

I have been bringing my Maine Coon cat and 2 Dalmatians to Dr. Schlanger for the past two years. One of my dogs is extremely skittish and has been known to bite out of fear. Dr. Schlanger is so patient with her and really takes the time to make sure that my animals have a positive experience when they visit the vet. The receptionists are so pleasant and helpful when bring my animals in. This is the first vet's office that my animals actually look forward to visiting instead of having to be dragged through the door. I really appreciate the fact that the doctors and the rest of the staff are so nice when I call up with a million questions about my animals. I never feel like I am being a bother even though I am sure that they have to answer the same silly questions day after day. I think they do a great job. Many of my friends are also clients of Brent Air and they all say the same thing. Keep up the great work! Pros: Nice staff and great medical care! Cons: none! more

The Best Vets on the Westside!! 12/19/2007

I have been going to Brent-Air Animal Hospital for 4 years with my two dogs and I can say that it is the best animal hospital I have ever been to! The staff is so friendly and caring, the doctors are so thorough and nice--you can really tell that they love your pets. Dr. Schlanger always takes the time to answer all of my questions and gets right back to me whenever I call. I have even paged him in the middle of the night, and he spent time with me on the phone, told me what I needed to do for my dog, and then followed up the next day to make sure everything was okay! And I really appreciated the fact that he didn't tell me that I had to come in when everything was fine and saved me a visit and a bill! The hospital is always spotless, there is never a long wait, and they can always fit me in at the last minute. And when I come in, the front office staff and the techs make you feel like you are their most important client. I have also seen Dr. Oxford when I have to come in late after work or on a Saturday and she always takes the time to review everything that has been going on with my animals and is so patient and kind. I also use them for boarding and grooming and my dogs are always so happy when I bring them in. They wag their tails when they see Dr. Schlanger and give him kisses! I will never trust anyone else with my pets--they are THE BEST! I LOVE Dr. Schlanger and Brent-Air Animal Hospital! Pros: Great staff! Great Doctors! Clean hospital, late hours, open Saturday. Cons: None more

I was a client of Dr.Schlanger 12/18/2007

I was a client of Dr.Schlanger untill he vaccinated my puppy without my permission two weeks ago. Dr. Schlanger wanted to vaccinate her before her surgery and I denied it because vaccinations should never be given when the body is under stress.(every Dr. should know this) He did not like my decision and quickly changed his tune and was not very nice. I brought my dog in a week later for a simple yeast test and to have her nails clipped...this was clearly told to the the tech and she wrote it all down. I had an appointment to see Dr.Schlanger because we had some questions regarding our pups allergies. The tech came in the room asking me if I really needed to see Dr. Schlanger. I didn't understand because I could clearly hear that he was not busy...he was talking in the back about movies to the staff. The tech picked up my dog and said they were going to swab her mouth and clip her nails in the back room and would be right back. Within a minute I heard my puppy cry and couldn't figure what hurt her so much. She was brought back in by Dr. Oxford saying they gave her the test , cut her nails and vaccinated her. How did that happen? I did not authorize this ? It clearly states in her chart that I didn't want her vaccinated yet. Pros: helps animal rescue organizations Cons: hurts animal rescue organizations by promoting pet stores more

Pets Receive the Best Care at Brent Air Animal Hospital 12/17/2007

As a long time client of Dr. Schlanger/Brent Air Animal Hospital, owner of two rescued animals and supporter of several local animal shelters, I find the abusive personal attacks on this site to be extremely offensive. I use City Search to get honest reviews for businesses in my area. It is not a forum for people who clearly are not clients to spew their personal beliefs. If you are interested in stopping of puppy mills, why not write a letter to your congressman? Do something to change the laws that make the existence of puppy mills very much a legal practice in the United States. Push for the USDA to receive enough funding that they can adequately monitor the conditions at these breeding facilities. Go do something that may actually make a difference. Perhaps these posters should also attack the people buying the puppies from pet stores. After all, if there was no market for these dogs, the puppy mills and pet stores would not exist. Should Pets of Bel Air not have a vet to check and treat the puppies they sell? Dr. Schlanger is a fantastic vet. My animals love him. He and his staff run a first class animal hospital. I think the people using this site appreciate feedback from actual consumers, not fanatics who waste their time slandering individuals under the pretense of "helping the animals." Pros: Clean, well run, pets get excellent care Cons: can't think of any - if my pets are happy, I am happy! more

Dr. Kevin Schlanger loves money not animals 12/17/2007

Dr. Schlanger is the IN HOUSE vet for Pets Of Bell Air. They sell tiny couture puppys at ridiculous amounts of money... mean while ,there are animals being put down by the thousands every day in the pound . Also, this pet store was just shut down because they were using PUPPY MILLS. Who would have thought! I wonder what Dr.Schlanger was thinking about when all these little puppies seemed to be so sick????? Could they be from puppy mills?? Ya think Schlanger? Or did you just see dollar signs? Cons: promotes himself on a pet store web site more

Brent-Air Animal Hospital Is The Best Animal Hospital There Is 12/13/2007

I've been to many veterinarians over the past 30 years. The love for my animals gave me the desire to continue looking for a vet that both I and my pets were comfortable with. It wasn't until I found Dr. Schlanger and his friendly, animal loving staff at Brent-Air Animal Hospital where my search for a great vet ended. Whether it is for a routine check-up or just to buy some food, my animals and I are always greeted with a warm smile and friendly conversation. This is the only vet office where my animals are actually happy to come to. Because of BAAH I don't have to pull, tug or pick my dogs up when taken into the door. They're always eager to come in because they knew plenty of treats and love will be given. When I didn't have an appt. and one of my animals needed to be seen, I knew I could call and they would fit me in. When I needed comforting when one of my dogs passed, it was Dr. Schlanger and his staff there to help me get through it. I understand that there's a lot of info. ciculating the media with Pets of Bel Air. Why speak poorly of any animal hospital when all they are trying to do is be there and do their job at the best of their ability in seeing to all animals are taken care of? All animals need love and health care, regardless of where they come from. It is not BAAH's fault if some of the animals they treat come from puppy mills. And whose to say they come from puppy mills, the media? Who likes to make things seem worse then what they are to get high ratings? The world would be a better place if people wouldn't be so negative, so quick to bad mouth and pay closer attention to the facts before speaking. In regards to the previous postings, I'm not even going to waste my time and comment on such foolishness because it is only obvious that Dr. Schlanger and his entire staff has love for animals and could care less about money. If you're looking for a personable, animal loving veterinarian hospital, Brent-Air Animal Hospital is where you'll find one. Pros: Friendly, Goes Above and Beyond and Efficient Cons: None more

The Best Vets In Town 12/8/2007

I've been to alot of diffrent vets and without fail I end up feeling as if i was just another number... a vauge face in the swirl of clients. That all changed when I went to Brent-Air Animal Hospital. They always make time for me, and go the extra mile, and full explain everything. I've had staff members stay late so I could pick my pet up, and they've even deliered medicine to my house free of charge. Dr. Noll, and Dr Kevin are like small 'town vets' with 'big city' knowledge and experiance. As a side note it's not just the Doctors that are great here, the whole staff is both knowlegable and kind. They realy are the icing on the cake. They even goso far as to fill out my insurance claim forms for me. more

A very good vet 4/19/2006

I am partial to another vet, but brought my dog here in an emergency and they were terrific. Great service, caring Dr. and experienced tech's. You pay $$$ for care here..but what else is new? I'd much rather know that there is a second choice for me where my pets are well cared for irrespective of the cost! PROS: Caring vet, good tech's. CONS: pricey, but no more than others in area..obviously worth it! more

Excellent Pet Care 9/7/2005

I found this vet in my area. I was so impressed by the care they gave my puppy! They truly give individual attention, and they have a toy area in front for the kids! I have five kids, and they never complain if they are a little noisy. They give specialized care to every animal that comes in. When my puppy is sick, they will squeeze me in if it is urgent, and if it is just a check up that my little beagle needs, they are still very quick with appointments. I recommend them highly! Even the vet techs are marvelous! PROS: fast appointment scheduling, caring vet techs, play area for kids, thorough CONS: none that I can think of. more
