Nasty Food 4/16/2012

Decided to give this place a go after my husband had been told by several work friends to try it,seriously wish we hadn't bothered now.I ordered the 20 oz Ribeye and my Husband tried the 32 oz Porterhouse.both of us ordered it medium rare when they arrived i would say mine for sure was rare.first impression of the steak was wow looked really good and thick.after spending the next 10 mins cutting off all the fat,and whatever the rest was (cant actually find a word to describe it).ooh and btw the way, bent the fork twice while trying to saw through the steak where it was so tough.i finallly reached some meat which was so rare i had to send it back..after waiting another 10 mins i was brought back the steak which at this time had shrunk from 20 oz to around a 4 oz piece so tiny they even get it back to me on a side plate was so suprised they actually where brave enough to bring that small piece back and not replace the whole steak after seeing for themselves how much fat and sinew had been cut off(but was still charged for the full 20 oz price)!. I would not recomend going to this place and myself never intend to return there more

Breck's? More like BLECH's 6/10/2010

We just got back from Mc Donald's right after we left Breck's. Service was horrible, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The place was packed and I was excited to see what I was going to get. So I put up with the 15 minute wait to get my drink order. Then the waitress gets around to us and comps our drinks...then offered us a free fried mushroom appetizer for waiting some more. We finally get to ordering . My wife and I each got a 20 ounce rib eye. I love rib eye, give me a nice marbled hunk of meat, and I'm in heaven. So the waitress comes out with our salads (from a bag w/ cherry tomatoes and cucumbers). The salad was by far the best part of the meal. Then came our sweaty jock strap smelling bloody beef jerky fillets. They cook their steaks on a flat-top, which is equivalent to me cooking it in a frying pan. I have no idea what seasoning they used but I believe it made the steak tougher. They could have saved 2 cents and left it off of the steak. Four of the 20 ounces was fat, and not that nicely charred fat that gives the steak a nice flavor. I don't even know how to describe this kind of fat, I instantly lost my appetite after seeing this desecration. I got up and left it was that bad. It didn't even deserve a discussion on how bad the meal was and how they could fix it. Even just thinking about this makes me nauseous. Charleston, what were you thinking telling me how great this place is? Dear Texas Roadhouse Across the Street: I am so sorry for ever cheating on you. I promise I will never go anywhere else for steak. Pros: Excellent bagged salad Cons: The Steaks more

Best Lunch 10/15/2008

My first review. My coworkers and I are experts at finding great places to eat lunch (I'm pretty good at eating dinner, too). We have a tradition with Brecks. If we bring someone for the first time, we buy their meal. Most of my friends have perpetuated the ritual. It's not expensive and you just showed somebody a true gem. The setting in North Chuck is not fancy but Brecks more than makes up for it with the best lunch specials in the tri-county. NY Strip, baked potato, salad, drink for under 10...are you out of your mind? All cuts of meat here are first rate and I've yet to have a waitress that wasn't a pure delight. If you've never been to Brecks, stop. Stop what you're doing right now, get in your car, drive to Brecks and eat. Then come back and read this: more

The place for Meat Lovers! 12/5/2007

On my first visit i selected the place for a family dinner, the general appearance was kind of shocking first cause you'll have to as trough the smokers section to get in. As soon as we arrive to our table the whole scene changed, the service was excellent and the food was even better, great presentation and impressive portions. The best part was the price more than good, a dinner for 10 for less than $100. Don't know anything about deserts, I haven't been able to make it so far, I always get so full that I don't even know whats they have for desert. Since my first visit I've been a loyal carryout customer for lunch. more

Great steak value with no ambience 6/2/2004

This place has top-notch, over-sized steaks and chops which are perfectly grilled. However, if you are looking for ambience, this isn't the place. They are in a strip shopping center with sole purpose of serving great food Pros: Steaks, Chops more
