Last May I took my car to a repair shop for minor problems and immediately after getting it back it had problems. When I put the car into gear it made a loud thud sound like the whole engine or something was falling from the vehicle. We had been trying to find just one mechanic shop that we could trust to take our vehicle to on a regular basis and decided to try brakes plus. After they checked the vehicle they determined that it was something with the axles causing this shifting problem and also decided we needed some brake repairs all of which would cost us $2000.00. We told him to go ahead with the repairs. When we got it back the shifting problem was fixed although the car didn't sound as great as we wanted it to we decided he fixed the problem and left it at that. Well yesterday after taking it back to them after having a failed smog check for a couple of censors we were quoted $917.00 and decided we just couldn't afford so we told him we couldn't do it. We went to pick up the vehicle and paid the $87 diagnostic fee and guess what. We get in the car and it has the original problem we paid $2000 to fix back in just May. And now they REFUSE to help us! My husband and I were laid off from our jobs, are collecting unemployment, and this is the only vehicle we have to get our children to and from school, as well as taking ourselves to look for work. As a mechanic you'd think the mechanic would want to give great customer service to someone who brought their car to you and left with a problem that they didn't have when they dropped it off to you. We thought we could trust them and planned to use them as our mechanic but they proved to us once again how hard it is to find a good trustworthy mechanic, Does anyone know any??
