Que Paso! What happened to this place???! 8/26/2010

I have a terrific memory of eating great food here about a year ago. Went back last night for a complete disaster. Terrible, ordinary, generic food, obnoxious service and lousy, watered down drinks. Literally ordered a hot chocolate, received a 1/2 cup of steamed milk. Then had an argument with the waiter about it. more

Fun place 6/3/2010

Went here last night and dined at the bar. The food was great, the waiters recommendations were all excellent. We ordered the perfect amount of food. The serano was so good it melted in your mouth. The peppers were great as well. I will defintely be back Pros: Great sangria more

one of the best Spanish/Tapas in NYC 6/2/2010

Boqueria is definitely among the top Spanish restaurants I have been to in NYC. The cheese, wine, sangria....perfect! I don't eat meat but I hear its not to be missed. Spring Street makes it a great location as well. Go early so you dont have to wait! Pros: sangria, tapas, soho location more

Go somewhere else 12/19/2009

we met friends for drinks. I had been to Boqueria before for sangria and tapas. We ordered a a few combination platters (ham, bread, cheese, nuts). we decided to stay for dinner and ordered the seafood (lobster) paella w/ mushrooms. The paella was overcooked, dry, with one piece of lobster ($38). This place is just location, and not really a good tapas restaurant. Nothing special about it. Pros: location Cons: overpriced food more

Best Tapas Ever!! 3/4/2009

Just celebrated my birthday at Boqueria and had the best night ever. The food was delicious, the wait staff was accomodating and the vibe was very Soho. I really wanted Spanish food for my special night and wasn't sure what to expect from this place, but it didn't disappoint, now I have my favorite tapas spot. Try the Carne Asada, it was excellent. more

Great food and great atmosphere at Boqueria! 3/4/2009

Love, love, LOVE Boqueria!! I was shocked too see negative reviews as this place is excellent. I have been to Spain many times and Boqueria made me feel like I was there again. The tapas were tasty and the flan was delicious! I plan on eating here again and again. Definitly try the brunch too!! more

Great place - highly recommend it 3/4/2009

Frankly, wasn't sure what to expect when we ventured to Boqueria for the first time but glad we tried it! A great overall experience. Crowded but fun/vibrant atmosphere and service was friendly and helpful. Loved the food and wine selection. We'll definitely be back and look forward to trying the other Boqueria location at some point. Definitely give it a shot. Pros: Atmosphere, service, menu/wine selection and friendly and knowledgable staff more

Best Spanish/Tapas restaurant in NYC 3/4/2009

I have been to Boqueria Soho many times with family, friends and clients. The space, food and staff are wonderful. I highly recommend it. Pros: Food, ambience, service, design of the space more

Bad Boqueria! Bad! 2/20/2009

The only thing worse than the actual food served at Boqueria Soho is the never ending shilling by the senior editor of Citysearch. I went there because of the constant glowing reviews of the Chef and ownership of Boqueria by Feedbag. I had to literally take the pork and the salt cod croquetas out of my mouth they tasted so bad. This guy does not know how to cook. It's time for a serious reality check. more

not what we expected 2/17/2009

i always wanted to go try this restaurant. the one in chelsea always seems so busy perhaps i was wrong to assume that it would actually be good. i have not been in spain in a few years and thought that this would be a nice treat. unfortunately, i was very dissapointed. the best dish that came out of the kitchen were the roast potatoes. the croquetas were burned that we could not tell which one were pork or cod, the manchego platter barely had a 2 slivers of cheese, the pork sausage with beans was so spicy and the beans were not cooked enough, the jamon tapa with tomato and toast was so warm that the jamon nearly melted onto the toast. with most meats this might taste delicious, but in this case, the toast was so warm that it made the jamon taste completly differnent. they took very simple, authetic dishes, overthought them. i almost felt like the chefs took the restaurants poplularity for granted. there was no authenticiy behind the food nor the experience. i hope that they turn the experience around for future clients. i will not go back, however in this economy they should not take their clients for granted. i could go about this, but i think i made my point more

  • Boqueria can cater your next event! Boqueria Soho offers the same regional Spanish cuisine as its sister property in Chelsea. Reminiscent of the bars and "cervezerias" of Barcelona and the Boqueria market, Boqueria Soho will be open daily from 8 a.m. to midnight, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, as well as Spanish products, cured meats and cheeses to enjoy in-house or to take-out.

The open kitchen, surrounded by a 12-seat chef's counter available for walk-ins only, is the focal point of Boqueria Soho's 70-seat dining room. The kitchen counter features a glass-enclosed case for guests to choose the market-fresh fish and seafood they want, which are then given directly to the cooks by the "kitchen bartender" and prepared to-order immediately.

Editorial

  • The original 19th Street Boqueria was a perfect storm of scene, space, and food; the question about this larger Soho space was whether it would capture the same magic. Judging by the crowds, it...
