Wonder books 3/26/2006

Books of Wonder has a great selection of children books from all the latest titles to rare out of print to the turn of the century. The shop is very quaint and cute. The staff knows what they are talking about and they have a lttle cafe for a hot chocolate and coffee if you want to chill out for awhile or take a break from book browsing. A good place to take your kids for the day. more

Wonderful! 3/11/2006

Books of Wonder is one of New York's last, great independent book sellers. They specialize in children's literature, but that doesn't mean you won't have cause to go in there (even if just for their midnight Harry Potter parties each time a new book in the series is released -- that they can manage the insane crowds these things provoke is a testament to something). It's a charming bookstore with a great selection and a fun in-store café. It's worth your patronage and is a wonderful reminder of why we need independent bookstores. more

Books of Wonder 8/19/2005

After the great 90's death of small children book stores in New York, it's a relief to see that Books of Wonder is still around. And though they have revamped and to my delight, partnered with cupcake cafés to make their store even more inviting, they still remain a great source of children's books. I've always been a big children's book fan, and you'll be hard press to find a better selection of books or a more knowledgeable staff than you'll find at this books store. I'm very happy I finally have my kids to introduce to the wonder of Books of Wonder. more

be a kid again 8/17/2005

You don't need to be a child to appreciate this store, it makes you feel like one. The store offers the finest children's books ever written—old and new—and stocks an impressive selection of antique and first edition books and illustrations. So, if you are looking for the latest Harry Potter or a first edition Roald Dahl, this is the spot. It's an absolute haven for the book lover whatever their age. more

The best children's bookstore in NYC! 8/3/2005

Perfect hangout for parents and kids. This store has everything from the classics to the recently published. The staff is great! They are very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They just recently expanded the store to include a small bakery called the Cupcake Cafe. The store holds weekly events such as readings of their most popular children's books. more

Giant Independent Children's Bookstore 7/25/2005

Share the wonder of books and reading with your kids, while showing them that there's more to life than Barnes and Noble. Books of Wonder if one of the biggest and most well known independent childrens' bookstores in New York offers new books for children ages infants to teens, as well as older and rare titles so you can show them what YOU used to read when you were their age. Books of Wonder also helps show kids the wonder behind the words with special events with authors and artists, as well as a weekly story time Sundays at noon. And what's better than reading with your kids? Reading with your kids and cupcakes! Books of Wonder is right next door to The Cupcake Cafe which specializes in amazing frosting flower decorations that fill me with awe - and I'm a grown up. more

Best Kid's Bookstore in New York 3/22/2005

I suppose there might be some who haven't heard of this wonderful bookstore. It is located across the street from the City Bakery, and now has a Cupcake Cafe located within the store (which I actually view as a slight negative). The staff are wonderful, know everything about children's books, of which the store has a wonderful collection. I usually go on the weekend, and in addition to wonderful places to sit and read with your kids, the staff do readings of books and activities with the kids. more
