Nice bookstore 4/16/2006

This place is pretty good, but a bit expensive. If you want to preview your books, then this is the perfect place to do that. The staff here is very nice and knowledgeable about books sometimes. The place is pretty quiet, so no worries about getting disturbed. Also the selection of books is nice and they have the current list of popular books, which are the books i usually pick out from when I come here. more

Ahh good ole BAM 4/12/2006

BAM is the bomb when it comes to studying for "the big test" - the cafe is always a great place to come to hit the books when you need to get some serious studying done. It is ALWAYS less crowded than Barnes and Nobles, and it is much less noisy. They have a great selection of books, and you are sure to find what you're looking for! more

Small selection, prices could be better 3/20/2006

In the era of online retailing, it must be tough for brick and mortar bookstores to keep up, especially when their own online prices are a lot cheaper. I usually only go to BAM or B&N when I absolutely *must* have a book, so the hit on my pocketbook is expected, but disappointing. Even their once good Millionaire's Club has gotten more expensive and less rewarding. The atmosphere is more crowded than cozy, and though it is fun to browse, their prices are dismally high compared to what you can get online. Even their clearance is not all that great. I love to support Alabama's businesses, but I have to say that I'd rather get a good price in the bargain, too. more

Convenient, but Pricy! 9/25/2005

We love to read, so we find ourselves on the prowl for new books quite often. Since Books A Million is located right in Madison, we tend to run in here when we need a quick reading fix. They have an excellent selection of magazines, and my son can usually find what he's looking for in the children's section. My biggest complaint about this book is that even though it is a Mass Retailer, their prices aren't always competitive. Unless you are buying a new release, be prepared to pay more for the book than you would at Barnes and Noble, WalMart or Target. more
