Bonners it's like a high water mark 11/13/2008

Bonner's marks the historical extent of Grey's Ferry- long ago as far north as Sansom and 23rd was solidly Irish working class. Bonner's is mostly all that's left (except Callahans on South and a few places pretty deep in the Ferry) of that time. But it's a fitting testament. Cheap beer, friendly people and an eclectic crowd- everyone from happy houring Center City lawyers to punk bike messengers occasionally show up inside it's dingy, worn interior. Also, a nice big selection of take out beers without a bad mark up.\r \r Great place, it's a shame Ally their old bartender left. Pros: very much a real bar, price, location Cons: ...very much a real bar more

Cozy neighborhood bar 2/20/2007

Bonner's is simple, but you won't find the place empty. The bartenders will chat you, and the food is surprisingly good, but make sure to order before the grill closes at 10pm. It is a true neighborhood bar, so most people there know at least a few other people in there, which adds to its charm. They have karaoke on Thursdays, pitchers are always $6 for most domestics and there is nothing to do but relax. Don't come here to pick up girls, but there is plenty of reason to come and unwind. Definitely recommended if you like a calm bar scene. Pros: Reasonable prices and small town neighborhood feel Cons: older crowd, nothing particularly special about it for outsiders more
