I love the food, but they aren't great about getting the order correctly. Last time they forgot the rice and the naan that comes with the dinner combo. The time before that they gave me veggie samosas instead of the meat samosas I ordered. more

Horrible Service and Mediocre Food. Not worth it! 11/28/2009

Could not believe the disregard of the wait staff. Only 3 small tables of patrons including mine and a 3 person wait staff plus a bartender who did nothing but talk to each other around the bar and ignored all the tables. FINALLY food came with some prodding to check on it (and stop chatting with each other) the taste was bland and disappointing. Not worth it. So many more tasty Indian places nearby, but wanted to give them a try. Sorry I did. Pros: Good lunch price deals Cons: Horrible service and mediocre tasting food more

Good Indian food at comparatively high prices 2/15/2009

Parking can be hard as the place is located right on Ventura Boulevard. The restaurant is small, so you better make sure to make a reservation. The staff was friendly and serviced as promptly. The food was good, but the Naan bread was oily and seemed to have been done with spoiled oil - not good. The price was rather high when compared to other nearby Indian restaurants. Pros: Good Indian food Cons: Expensive more

Best chicken tikka masala! 5/23/2008

I am always very picky about indian food, since I have heard horror stories. This is the one place I have returned to again and again, and every time I have gone I have been very pleased with the food. I've had vegetarian dishes and meat dishes. The appetizers are good but my favorite is the Chicken tikka masala. Best I've ever had by far. If you go in enough the waiters start to recognize you. They are very friendly and accomodating. I have never had a negative experience in this establishment and have been a patron for over 2 years. Cons: Parking more

Incomparable 3/2/2008

I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers are talking about. Maybe the service wasn't friendly b/c they weren't friendly patrons.\r Personally, I've experienced such friendly staff that I've been known by name since my first visit.\r Regardless, the food is fantastic. The sauces are consistently good enough to eat by themselves, (I've literally eaten spoonfuls), while the meat is always tender and the shrimp, plump and scrumptious. \r Tikki masala, tandoori, vindaloo and the samosa are staples for us!\r Dine in, order out or choose delivery, either way, you'll be more than satisfied. more

Bad service, good food 10/15/2007

Great food but horrid service! This restaurant is better for take out rather than eating in. Suprising, since there is more attitude here than the trendy LA eateries... more

Leave me alone! 8/2/2007

The service is outrageous! We ordered an appetizer and they gave us small plates for it.\r I was enjoying my appetizer when the waiter went to grab my plate!! I told him I wasn't finished.\r A minute later he went to grab my plate again! I couldn't believe it!! I said, please leave it I'm \r still eating. He stood there staring at me. I actually took the food off the plate and put it on my\r napkin and said ""Ok Take the plate!"" He grabbed it like a dog grabbing his food and running. It's like\r I had the last plate in the restaurant and they needed it back!\r \r Anyway, if you can eat quickly then this is the place to go. Also, if you like your food without much\r taste then this is your place. more

Best Indian Food in the SFV 2/12/2007

Even though the Bollywood Cafe is no where near my home or office, the food is so delicious it's worth the trip! Everything on the menu is delicious and a good value too. We always have leftovers. The service is great. The only drawback is the restaurant is tiny and so on a busy night it can be hard to hear. I completely recommend this restaurant though and it's my first choice when I have a curry craving! Also, I have never gotten anything but excellent service! Pros: The best Indian food in the SFV Cons: Hardly any parking and a very tiny space that gets loud more

Great 9/30/2006

Bollywood Cafe is BY FAR THE BEST INDIAN FOOD I have ever experienced. Not only is the atmosphere of the restaurant - including the friendliness and service of the staff and authentic feel - wonderful, but the food is absolutely delicious. In fact, I was not even much of a fan of Indian cuisine until I took the advice of a friend, after she assured my skeptical self that Bollywood would change my opinion, and gave in by going and taking another stab at liking it. Needless to say, I love it (at Bollywood, that is!) and highly recommend it to everyone I know who inquires about good restaurants of any cuisine, including people from relatively far away locations such as the South Bay! Pros: THE FOOD, friendly and prompt service, authentic ambience Cons: potential downside if you enjoy sitting outside, as the restaurant is right on Ventura Blvd but it is still nice (especially during sunset) more

A tradition 8/30/2006

yeah this is our tradition. amazing tikka masala sauce (without the chicken)...you know, we go with our friends and everyone has a different way of eating their naan, rice, and masala sauce....some make a naan pizza, some make a sandwich. some eat it with a fork. you can be creative with it. i just had to write a review because we are their #1 customers...even though they know my husband and both my friends names but always ignore me. who cares, i still have fun. (: yay BWOOD forever. Pros: food, prices, fun Cons: short wait sometimes, but can you blaim people for wanting to eat here? more

Eat - Enjoy - Repeat 5/15/2006

We've probably eaten at Bollywood more than a dozen times now - we love this place. Great food (mixed tandoori appetizer, chicken spinach, shrimp bhuna, mattar paneer are standouts); you can order the level of ""hot"" you like from mild to scorching. One minor quibble is that sometimes the breads (naans, etc) seem like they've been hanging around waiting for a customer for too long. Service is friendly, the restaurant is small but they've resisted the temptation to try to cram those couple of extra tables so there's plenty of elbow room. Great value, good food, what's not to like about this neighborhood restaurant? Pros: Spicy-Hot Dishes, Friendly Staff, Kingfisher Beer more

Would not go again 2/18/2006

The fried papadum that came before the meal tasted of old oil. Upon telling the waiter he simply took it away. No explanations. The chicken tikka masala was dry. The food was quite awful. The service was painfully slow and people who came after us got their food before us. (Maybe we should not have called them out on their spoilt cooking oil). Would most definitely not go there again. Save your money. McD's is a much better option. Cons: service, food more

Very Good!... 1/4/2006

This has been my favorite Indian restaurant so far and I can never stay away for too long. I'm a vegetarian and have loved every non-meat dish I've tried so far. The mataar paneer and aloo gobi are excellent as well as the nan bread and rice. Yum! Pros: Delicious Food, They Deliver!, Reasonable pricing more

Over Cooked Meat and Shrimp on Two Visits 11/12/2005

I have heard from others to eat here. I read the reviews and was excited to go. My first experience was very dry lamb and chicken. I gave it a second chance since I was recommended to go. Maybe it was a bad dish or bad night for them. The shrimp was so over cooked it was rubbery! I WILL NOT RETURN. Pros: Down the street Cons: Over Cooked more

Great Indian restaurant 7/24/2005

Great food and fast service. This is my most visited Indian restaurant. Being an Indian, I will say that the food is authentic if you order medium plus spicy. I recommend their lamb dishes, fish madras, Chicken tikka masala and pista kulfi for dessert. It is a small place so there is a short wait on weekends and I have always experienced fast service once seated. The staff is very friendly. Pros: Great food, Friendly staff, Inexpensive Cons: Small, Dont serve Roti more

This place ROCKS 7/7/2005

I came across Bollywood upon a recommendation from a friend, and I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else for Indian food... it was EXCELLENT. I have never had a bad dish here and the service is great. Try the Chicken Tikka Masala... it melts in your mouth. Pros: Yummy food, Great prices, Friendly service Cons: Nothing I can thinkof more

Quality! 3/10/2004

The Bollywood is first class, we love it and will only ever go there for our Indian food in L.A. which is a big compliment from a Brit! Make this your number one Indian place! I recommend Chicken Rogan Josh (you have to ask for it specially ;-) Pros: Food, Price, Service more
