Soken is ""the monk""!! 6/15/2010

Being athletic my whole life and having plenty of injuries over the years, I was fortunately not in ""real"" pain when I first came to Soken. Primarily I was seeking preventative methods to try and stay as injury free as possible, and work on any existing conditions already established that would most likely develop to pain/discomfort if not addressed now, or in the near future. \r \r Sokens incredible insightfulness enables him the ability to see problematic areas just by visualization before he begins the actual physical treatment. Once he starts, he always seems to know right were to address the areas that need the most immediate attention, and problematic areas that have never received attention, but need it. Recently I sustained a serious injury that could have been much worse. To mine and others surprise, my injuries have been healing remarkably well and fast. I'm convinced healthy dietary choices in combination with the Rolfing sessions I've received thus far, were a major factor in not only my excellent recovery process, but possibly reducing the severity of injury as well. \r \r I'm very grateful to have found Soken. The Rolfing sessions have been so worthwhile, I thought what better wedding gift could I give my best friend and his new wife than a series of Rolfing treatments!! more

it works! 6/13/2010

I came to Bodhi Heart Rolfing after tweaking my back lifting something in a funny way, and two months of rest and visits to the chiropractor didn't seem to be alleviating the problem. I knew nothing about Rolfing, but eventually being out of known options I found myself in Soken's office. The day after my first session, I felt my body relearning how to balance in slightly different ways as I walked. And as I wrote to tell my yoga teacher that I had tweaked my back, I did a spot check and was amazed to find that a simple motion that had felt tweaky just a day ago was now pain-free. After the second session, my back was completely fine. And as I went through the rest of the ten series, I noticed other changes as well. As my posture opened up, I became slightly taller. I found an internal spaciousness and felt more emotionally grounded than I ever had. Because I felt spacious and grounded emotionally, I also I felt fearless (emotionally), and that allowed me to be present with whatever was happening in my life in each moment, which was really refreshing. Strangers told me I seemed sweet and down-to-earth. Friends told me my energy was noticeably different, calmer, more sure of myself. I myself felt grounded and present. Soken is pleasant to work with and has a way of putting you at ease. Like the other reviewers have said, he is patient, understanding, and gentle. I was surprised to hear from other people that Rolfing has a reputation of being painful, because my experience has not been so at all. Overall, I couldn't be gladder that I wound up in Soken's office. more

Highest Recommendation! 6/9/2010

Have you ever watched one of those television evangelists, who ""heal"" someone? The person being ""healed: jumps up waving their arms shouting ""I can walk/talk/play the piano again!""? Well I have to tell you that Soken is the real deal in the real professional world. I have suffered from injuries from several bad falls for DECADES. Although I have had the benefit of excellent medical doctors and a fine chiropractic professional, deep tissue scaring created symptoms of chronic pain and misalignment throughout my body. I'd been to other health providers; acupuncture therapists, massage therapists, and even other Rolfers and not found relief. As I am a massage therapist, I met Soken at a Deep Tissue Myofacial Release workshop. He needed a body to work on for a demonstration, so I volunteered. After working for about a half hour the improvement I felt in my body was enough to make me believe that this man could help me. I found his skill in identifying energy blockages where injury exists allows him to focus exactly where work is most needed. Often in a session I would forget about something that had been bothering me and he would identify it and say ""So tell me what's going on with your foot."" His work is so effective, and the result so profound that I could feel deep tissues tingling and releasing in my body long after each session. He has been able to clear decades old causes of my neck, back and pelvic pain. My body feels relieved, relaxed and renewed. I HIGHLY recommend Soken to everyone I know more

Highly Recommended 6/8/2010

I highly recommend Soken and his work. I’ve been practicing yoga for the past three years and had blocks that I couldn’t work past. Each session methodically worked through specific blocks, awakening healthy patterns that has not only cleared each block, but has shown how to keep the block from returning.\r \r His work takes body work to the next level. With all due respect, it is as if massage therapists are just pushing muscles around: each session with Soken has long-term, positive effects.\r \r If you have never done energy work, then Soken’s application of Rolfing and Source Point will show you the benefits. If you’re already familiar, his work will help you go ever deeper into your body/mind/breath awareness.\r \r His craft is to bring greater understanding to each client, and I have been nothing short of amazed at the efficiency and usability of his work.\r Pros: Expert Rolfer and Source Point, Body/Mind/Breath Integration more's best kept secret 3/29/2010

I've never heard of rolfing until a friend mentioned it to me one day.\r \r I began searching for rolfing practictioners in the SF area (the one my friend saw was flown in my his boss...lucky him!). As we all know, searching for any type of new holistic/medical practioner can be cumbersome. \r \r I came across Soken's website and read more about his background. I emailed him about some questions and he thought it was best I came in for an assessment. We talked for a few minutes, and that's when I told him it's hard to understand with words, so we started my first session.\r \r Soken noted my spine was way out of alignment, as such, I started the treatment right then and there. We started a session that same hour and I was sold after the treatment was over. After only 60 minutes, I've never felt so recharged and energized. This was a good feeling...not like a caffeine buzz where you end up crashing a few hours later. This alterness went well into the late evening.\r \r I cannot describe this technique in words. I highly recommend seeing Soken. He's patient, understanding, and has a very gentle, yet strong touch.\r \r Pros: Naturally energized, released muscle tension, realigned more

Rolf to Feel Better 12/2/2009

Soken Paul Graf's Work is life-changing. A session with him is like going through a shamanic carwash that sprays soap suds and rainbows. It will make you well in spite of yourself. For who causes distress except the tired-out, embittered person you thought you were? Whether your complaint is physical, emotional, psychological, mental, karmic or all of the above, Soken will straighten the score: you are beautiful, unstoppable and worthy of all joy. more

expert and experienced body work 11/19/2009

Bodhi Heart Rolfing is Soken Graf's unique blend of working with the body/energy to integrate physical and emotional well-being. As someone who has a wide range of experience with healing techniques, I think Soken's approach is superior. In my case, after only 1 session, I felt a great release from mind-numbing stress that had plagued me for weeks before. Something actually re-aligned in my body that calmed it down. This is personal testimony I share to encourage anyone who may be curious, or even hesitant, to seek a Rolfer - Soken has also trained in a lineage of renowned Rolfers, which is also to his credit and skill. Pros: unique integrative approach more

Unforgetable healing experience 11/13/2009

Working with Soken is an unforgettable healing experience. He has helped my body move through physical pain-(sciatica and nerve pain) raw fatigue, emotional baggage and even PMS. When he touches my body, without any hesitation he finds the pain, the trauma, the hurt and gently it all starts to release. I have had a lot of body work throughout my entire life. I value this kind of work a great deal. I mention this only because have a lot of experience in this department and Soken's work is very unique and very effective. I find that he can do more in one session than most healers can do in five. Recently, I saw him for very painful nerve inflammation. The nerve was causing chronic pain in my neck all the way down my arm into my hand. After ten minutes of work a mild but annoying headache cleared up and then the pain completely disappeared and the pain hasn't come back. The thing about Soken's work is that it is both structural and anatomical like ""old school"" Rolfing and chiropractics and it is light and energetic like a lot of newer healing modalities. You just don't find that combination out there. more
