My son, while traveling through WV, had to have his car towed. Called Rick's BMW towing. The car was towed 1 mile - you read that right - 1 mile down the road and was charged $183!! The driver refused to allow the car off the tow truck until the money was handed to him in cash!! It's a good thing my sons' had cash with them. This company should be sued! more

Incompetence is matched only by their unethical business practices. 5/22/2013

Awful, crooked, unethical business that floats on immoral opportunism and the misfortune of its 'customer' base - who are really just unlucky victims of abuse justified this company's 'keeping the lights on.' If your car breaks down anywhere remotely close to Charleston, whether it's on I-77/I-81 turnpike, Cabin Creek, Belle, or the vicinity, you may end up being towed by Rick's BMW Towing (aka TyMrk LLC). They claim to be a AAA certified wrecker, but that's more than questionable. AAA's standards are far higher than these people can hope to achieve. -While the mechanics themselves seem like a decent enough bunch, they're underpaid for their effort, but several are overpaid for their ability. Something along the lines of $13 an hour according to one of them, which is great for the business, since the boss man charges $70/hr for labor. I was charged for 4 hours, but since I was physically present for ALL work performed, I can say that there was less than 90 minutes of actual work involved. What work was done was performed by a guy who was handed the part on his first day and told to install it. He asked me where it went, and I climbed under the car and showed him. -$80 for "diagnostics"(mechanic checked codes, and ordered the aforementioned part - a completely unnecessary part which cost was $115, and I paid $195 despite my expression that this part was likely NOT the problem), and a MINIMUM 55% margin on parts ordered (I saw the invoices from their vendor as they were delivered.). -Their towing rate is approximately $4/mile (according to one mechanic), but will most likely bolster this as well. If you're stranded overnight, call a cab to the nearest hotel - they'll drop you off for the same rate, of course, but if you need a ride back in the morning, you'll find yourself calling every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours waiting for a ride that will come when they get around to it. And be charged accordingly or more. -You'll have to stay on nearly all of the staff to make sure the job gets done. One customer I was more

Broke down on I-77 with an overheated Honda. Got towed there, they order the part (thermostat). Said it would be delivered. Said he had to pay the guy picking up the part 45 bucks because he used his personal vehicle. TRIED to charge me 2 hours labor at 70 bucks an hour, we were waiting on the part for 1 hour, while the mechanics stood around smoking cigarettes and talking to each other. I said no no no, I am not paying for two hours, I'll pay for one, but the other one they weren't even working. He agree'd, also stating "if my boss was here, he wouldn't of budged." I'm like, he wouldn't of budged on charging 2 hours of labor, when 1 of the hours they were standing around doing absolutely nothing? What a joke. Oh yeah, they picked up two bottles of coolant from auto zone as well, said they cost 12.00 a piece. Marked them up to 24.00 a piece and stated, "I have to make SOME money on it" That's a 100% markup, are you freaking serious??? What a joke. I guess it was just wrong place wrong time in some hick town in West Virginia. more

Thieves 1/22/2010

My sister in-law wrecked her car on the way back to GA. BMW Towing was called for services. The body work was also done at Bmw/Rick's. When she went to pick up her car she realized her Cd's had been stolen. She had around 200 Cd's in her car. These people are nothing but thieves, avoid at all costs. more
