Had one of the best experiences dining. Came in last week for a special occcasion first time diners. Had a wonderful server very pretty girl with a ponytail, just lead us through a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Would recommend this place to anyone! more

Great sushi and seafood...the best! 12/3/2008

I loved everything about this place. It was beautiful on the inside, the waitstaff was among the best, and the food was absolutely marvelous. We must have ordered every piece of sushi available. I think this place is better than Shaw's in every aspect. Pros: The seafood and sushi! more

Fun, Good, a strong recommend for a date. 9/19/2008

Terrific Food. Service was even better. We enjoyed our evening. Even the music fit the restaurant. It was a simple date with my wife. Just the two of us. Our waiter gave us enough time to enjoy the evening but did not leave us wondering where our food or drinks were. The meal with drinks took 90 minutes. The menu is varied but easy for my wife to choose a shrimp cocktail...simple but fresh and good. I started with fresh oysters on a half shell. Our waiter, Keith had extensive notes on the qualities of the various types of oysters. They were very fresh and exactly as described. We settled on entres until Keith described a terrific poached lobster special...My wife was sold and not disappointed with the choice. My Halibut was perfect and the grilled asparagus was the ideal complement. It is a little loud and the tables close together but somehow it just seemed part of the atmosphere. All in all I give it a strong recommend. Not cheap but worth it. Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere Cons: a little pricey more

Avoid this restaurant 7/28/2008

My brother & I were directed to this restarant by the 4 Points Sheraton. This restaurant is very pricy, food portions very small. Service was OK but for a restaurant to serve french fries with a $40 steak was appalling. We were offered dessert after the manager came over to check our complaint. Adjusting the bill would have been more appropriate. Would not recommend this restaurant. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food more

Really Good Food! 7/22/2008

My parents and I showed up without a reservation and were seated immediately. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing! It's VERY expensive, but if you want a nice celebratory night out, this is the place! Pros: great food, good location Cons: expensive more

Worst place for a dinner program in Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pharma reps stear clear!!!!!! 7/21/2008

The only reason they got one star is because the food was marginal at best. Everything else was a rip off! We were lied to about a food and beverage minimum $2500, We only had 11 people and were charged almost $3000 for 4 bottles of wine and 11 so so meals. After we addressed this when the bill came we were told there was nothing they could do because the manager of the special events was not in to deal with this issue.\r Then we were told by the female manager on duty that she was going to charge the program to the ""house"" and not our cards and we could fix the issue in the morning with the manager. She then turned around and charged our cards after we left!!!!!!!!!! We only found this out because we called our credit card co the next day and they had run the total through without our approval!! It has been 5 days now and we still are unable to get a reciept for our meals for expense purposes. And the management at Blue Water is usless at getting anything done or giving a answer to any questions.\r If you want to be lied too, over charged, treated with no respect, and given the run around then by all means book an event at this place.\r There are hundreds of other places where you will be treated well and not ripped off and lied to. Every rep in the city will be getting a notice to never use this venue again. If you want to avoid having the same problems then I would stay away. more

Blue Water Grill 7/19/2008

BWG was recommended by the concierge at the Hyatt....big disappointment!!! Seating was prompt and waiter was fine. Presentation of food was fine; portions very small but the worst was the food was awful Everything was very very salty!!!! Also Sushi seemed over priced to the California crowd. Would not return. more

Great Restaurant - Great Food! 6/2/2008

After being turned away from Joe's and Shaw's, we wandered into BWG, so glad we did. More locals dine here, very sophisticated restaurant, great decor, delicious food, awesome wine menu (had 2 bottles). One of the best meals I've had in Chicago. Being lactose-intolerant, I was able to enjoy sorbet for dessert-yeah! The Chilean sea bass was great, and the sushi was outstanding! The service was slow, and our bottle of wine was across the room, so we told her to put the bottle on the table. Other than the slow service, our food took about an hour to come out, it was still great. Gave us time to talk, and we were not rushed. Will go back! Pros: Great food, will seat you promptly, nice decor Cons: In a hurry? service is slow more

It's all true, this place is awesome!! 5/11/2008

The drinks were awesome and the food was incredible. The atmosphere couldnt have been better. I highly recommend this place. more

worth a shot 3/23/2008

As we arrived we were seated in a timely manner. Our server was helpful and the food was good but not the best seafood in town. My only complaint is that the food arrived really quick which gave no time for conversation and enjoyment of our dinner. Pros: Decor, food Cons: Way too Fast service. more

Great seafood. 2/2/2008

This place is awesome. Great ambiance- music, decor, etc. Knowledgable staff. And the chilean sea bass was excellent. I will be going back, and I would recommend this place. more

Fresh, fresh seafood. 11/20/2007

Oysters so fresh, you'd swear they were swimming in the North Atlantic earlier that day. The sushi dishes are generous; more than enough to share. The seafood dishes are pretty mainstream, so it's safe to divert from your normal orders. The steaks are outstanding, as well, but really - you're at a restaurant made famous for it's seafood. Walk across the street if you want a steak.\r \r Valet parking is reasonable ($10) and the attendants are quick to respond. Be prepared to spend around $80 per person, including gratuity. more

once was more than enough 10/15/2007

My husband and I went to BWG with a supperclub group of 16. We were seated quickly, the drinks were good and the wait staff was very helpful. The food however was awful. My sea bass was one degree above cold and several others at the table had the same experience. Several in the group ordered steaks and they too were not hot enough and a couple were quite fatty. One was not edible and the guest returned it. If you want to have a conversation, plan on shouting. the music is much too loud and lends nothing to the atmosphere. We will not go back Pros: on time seating, rapid service Cons: quality and temperature of food more

one correction 9/10/2007

Blue water grill no longer features live jazz. I went with my husband with the expectation of moving upstairs with cocktails for a romantic setting, but that was not the case. Fortunately, we asked our waitress first and she politely informed us of the misunderstanding. Apparently, they have not had live jazz for some time and the citysearch website has not been updated. \r \r Other than that one disappointment, we had and excellent night. Our server was very accommodating and was happy to lend some recommendations. I don't think I would have tried the Red Snapper Bouillabaisse without her suggestion, and I was so glad I did! Also not to be missed: the baja roll & the creamy wasabi tuna roll. Delicious! Stay clear of the Lobster roll, though. We ordered it without her blessing and now I know why. Flavorless and chewy--there are much better things on the menu.\r \r Do try this place. It seems to have a lot of bad reviews, and from what I can see that is a misrepresentation. We went on a Tuesday night, and it was perfect. Our waiter was attentive and courteous throughout, perhaps because they weren't as busy. I will definitely be back! Pros: great food, great service Cons: loud, no live jazz more

absent of the force and flavor they were 7/24/2007

\r Good crowd, nice space, ok service but food disappointing. BWG was recommended by the people at the Pennisula. Hungry and expecting good things we were. First assault, suspect sushi. Followed by the waiter pouring tableside cool flavorless soup over a mound of tired seafood and looking at us like he had just refined the formula for the neutron bomb. A greasy shot glass of sake for 12 bucks. A soggy lump of white protein posing as halibut took up space on the plate, the only thing in common with its neighboring sides was mediocrity. If you like food and don't like seeing it abused, stay away from here. more

Excellent meal,great service. 7/16/2007

Best Seafood in Chicago! 5/20/2007

Everything here is wonderful from the sushi to the scallops (which are particularly good). Skip the fancy frou-frou rolls and just go or nigiri when the quality of the fish is this good! Non fish eaters, need not fret as the meat dishes are also great. The environment is pretty modern, but I've been here with everyone from friends, to interviewers, to my middle-aged (but very cool) uncle, to a 65+ year old couple and every time people have felt comfortable and enjoyed themselves. The great food and service ensure that nobody feels out of place despite the somewhat contemporary atmosphere. Totally lives up to its sister in NYC! Pros: Best Seafood in Chicago Cons: None! more

Great service from the moment we walked in, great food, great ambience 3/27/2007

They recently updated the menu to include more non-seafood items which is great. Although skeptical about ordering non-seafoood items at a seafood restaurant, my BBQ pork chop was perfect, as well as my girlfriends steak. Of course, we started with sushi (Baja Roll and Yahoo Roll aka BBQ Eel Roll as it used to be known as) which is always amazing, never dissapointing. Great wine list with selections from smaller ""unknown"" producers and the server was amazing. We decided to hang out at the bar before being seated, which even though extremely busy, seemed to be no problem when we told the maitre'd (very accomodating). The Blue Water cocktail is very cool and tasty!! After our drinks we were seated with no problem even though we thought because we took time at the bar, we may have to wait for a table, but no wait at all!! \r Thanks for an amazing evening BWGC! YOU ROCK! Pros: Service all around, food, ambience more

Excellent Service 3/24/2007

Dinner at Blue Water Grill was a good dining experience. It started off great...good bread! The atmosphere was also great. Our waitress was friendly and the service was excellent. Huge sushi people ...and there's was great! Salad was good. Dinner was good, but have had better. Interesting flavors and nice presentation. Would recommend. Pros: Great Sushi more
