I can't believe it's fish! I've neve been a big fish fan, but this is so far beyond salmon and tilapia it's crazy! I had something called Escalar (sp?) and it was awesome - butt...

My mother and I ate here at lunchtime. It wasn't extremely busy but had heard they had good seafood. We were seated in a decent amount of time, but after that it was all downhill...

Fun place good food 10/8/2007

Great food, and nice waitresses. Found a local crowd to hang with and enjoyed the night. The calamarri was not that great, but I am comparing to California eateries. The oysters were fresh and tasty and the salmon was done very well. Pros: Nice Staff, good food Cons: not a large hard booze selection more

WOW! 12/27/2006

I can't believe it's fish! I've neve been a big fish fan, but this is so far beyond salmon and tilapia it's crazy! I had something called Escalar (sp?) and it was awesome - buttery and firm, but no "fishy" taste. Our waitress was super nice (Holly) and everyone at the table was very impressed. Great atmosphere and fun martinis - the bartender (also very nice) hipped us to a Green Tea Martini and it was out of sight. Pros: Great Service, Great Fish Cons: Cold by front door more

Great seafood- eclectic dishes! Every meal is a work of art! 9/19/2006

Came here with our 7-yr old daughter for my wife's birthday. Faith, our waitress, was very attentive and had some great menu suggestions. The food was absolutely delicious (my daughter's chicken fingers were even very tasty!) I would highly recommend the crab cakes also! Pros: Fantastic Food, Good service Cons: Only 2 items on childrens menu (but my daughter was fine with it) more

Nothing to write home about 9/11/2006

My mother and I ate here at lunchtime. It wasn't extremely busy but had heard they had good seafood. We were seated in a decent amount of time, but after that it was all downhill. The waitress didn't seem interested in us and muttered her way through the specials. My mother had the halibut special. I had the mango BBQ chicken special. The portions were small, but expected because of their attempt to be upscale (but the prices aren't). We received our food in okay time but was terrible. My mother's fish fillet was PINK and had to send it back. Mine was lukewarm and couldn't wait for my mother's replacement as my meal was getting cold fast. My mother had to wait an additional 10 minutes for her meal, only to receive the same piece of fish RECOOKED and OVERCOOKED. My mother, being gracious, ate it. We then asked for our bill, only to discover that we were overcharged for the fish special and had to bring it to the attention of the waitress! (here they have something on special, but the price is incorrect in their computer system?!!?) After straightening out the bill, the hostess (not the waitress) tries to smooth out issues by offering us one free dessert. We never received poorer service in a sit down/white table cloth place before. We will not be back. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: food, service more

Potential but TERRIBLE service! 9/9/2006

After experiencing poor service on a previous occasion we made the mistake of going there again The previous visit the food was exceptionally good and it was a beautiful evening to sit on the patio But low and behold bad service again. My family was there at about 8pm, and the place was not crowded. After being seated by the hostess we waited 15 minutes for someone to approach our table. When we asked if there were any nightly specials the waitress said I will get that for you, this took another 10 minutes. We were glad to at last place our order. The food was brought out promptly. The food was once again exceptionally good. The couple next to us turned and told us they were very frustrated because they had waited over 20 minutes after asking for their check. The couple at last walked in and requested the check again. Knowing we were done with our meal we sat for 43 minutes with dirty dishes. Unacceptable for a table of three and a bill over $100. On both occasions I was not able to find a manager or for that matter a hostess to ask for a manager so we could resolve this issue before leaving negative comments on this website. Pros: Good food Cons: Very poor SERVICE! 2 different occassions! more

Awesome service! It's not often that you find high caliber service (like we had at Blue Water Grill) at a restaurant in this price range. Our server was helpful, informed and friendly - she made it a great night! Pros: great service, interesting menu, large wine selection Cons: crowded, need reservations more

Hide the Children 1/6/2003

I am a St. Louis native who recently returned to St. Louis during a family visit and visited the Blue Water Grill. I have ate many times at this restaurant but found it a little disappointing during this visit. You get assigned to a table in the rear corner of the restaurant if you are eating with a toddler and many other families were set next to us while individuals without children were set up front. The food was good with the exception of their french fries. Service was also slow and unattentive. Blue Water Grill is nice but is not what it use to be 2 years ago or at it original location on Hampton Ave. Pros: ambience, clean, food Cons: family oriented, service more

The Best! 9/15/2002

I've been to Blue Water Grill twice while in St. Louis on business. I'm happy to say I'll be enjoying it again this week! Every single item on the menu looks fabulous! Really! There is not one thing that I would not order. Go on Monday - they have Flying Saucer Night! Everything is served in appetizer portions on Mondays so that you can try many different items. Since everything looks great, I tried the UFO on my last visit to BWG, and was not disappointed. Sit on the patio and enjoy a nice evening. Try one of the great concoctions from the bar (watermelon martini) and indulge in some really great food! more

  • The Scene
Standing-room-only crowds forced this popular restaurant to abandon its southside location for roomier quarters in suburban Kirkwood. The dining experience has become a bit less colorful as a result, with food enthusiasts in city duds giving way to dads in Dockers. Nevertheless, the new decor is appealing and service is still first rate.

    The Food
The seafood served here is as fresh as you'll find in St. Louis, and many menu items feature novel culinary combinations. Try the rustic Mexican bouillabaisse, the grilled salmon with mango barbecue sauce or a side order of smoked Gouda and green chili au gratin potatoes. Groups and newcomers should come on a Monday night for the "flying saucers," tapas-style, small plate items that allow diners to sample Chef Phil Noe's best dishes.
