We had our Christmas party here on December 8th. I cant begin to tell you how wonderful we were treated! The night started with the DJ playing tunes a 7:00 pm, great way to start ...

Worst. Venue. Ever 11/24/2009

I went to the Blue Dragonfly for a friends birthday. The staff seemed to be drugged, they were as incompetent as they come. They first told us there was a $10 cover charge and that they didn't know what birthday party we were talking about. They kept insisting there wasn't a party going on until I texted my friend and he came to the front. When he came around the woman at the door was completely tranced out, staring slack jawed into space while the owner still insisted at least the men in our group had to pay the cover!?! I was shocked at how rude the service was. When we walked in, the band playing was fine but there were only 3 patrons there. A couple at the bar and a sketchy looking individual at a table. My friends were cramped into a little room behind the bar, all trying to figure out where to go instead. This place was cold, smelly, the drinks were way, WAY too expensive, the staff was pushy/rude/high, they treated my friend with no respect on his birthday. It was like a slap in the face. Places like this don't deserve business. *The bouncer outside was extremely friendly and was very funny. Pros: not one Cons: everything under the sun more

Great space, rude DJ. 10/18/2008

We celebrated my friend's 26th birthday at the Blue Dragonfly. We were looking for a fun, hip place with a nice dance floor and this place provided that. The downstairs was especially fun for dancing and having a good time. I did however try to request a song for my friend's birthday and the DJ was very rude about it. I asked him to play a song and he snapped at me saying it was a ""90's themed night"". I wasn't aware, so on the spot I asked him to play ""I Like Big Butts"", a 90's classic. Instead of playing the song the DJ made fun of me saying, ""Sir Mix A lot? Really? Oh yeah...THAT'S original,"" and he never actually played the song. If it's going to be a 90's theme, I'd think that song would be okay. Another time my friend approached the DJ and told him it was her birthday to which he replied, ""So?"" I thought it was particularly uncalled for. We were just trying to have a good time. However, despite the rude DJ, the bartender downstairs was amazing. He payed close attention to us and we always got amazing service. He was attentive, funny and made a great drink. The vibe of the place was energetic and urban, which was just what we were looking for. The patio was also a great space to sit outside and get some fresh air. Overall we had a great time and I'm happy there's a place like this on the east side. Be cautious of the DJ though. Pros: large dance floor, outside patio, atmosphere Cons: rude DJ more

Great drinks. Good Food. Nice poeple. 4/17/2008

I went recently to Blue Dragonfly with a coworker since it is close to my house and found a spot that will be a perfect after work spot for going out with friends. I sat in the bar, so I don't know about the rest of the place, but the bar menu had great stuff. The crab cakes are delish! The drinks were the yummiest, though. The service was quick and polite. I'll bring more friends next time. Pros: Easy to park location. Not too busy. Cons: Powell may be out of the way for some. more

Explosive Taqueria 3/29/2008

I recently attended a birthday party at the blue dragonfly. It was awful. It was cold. The place was filthy & smelled like a wet dog. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, & when we informed our server they did nothing about it. They were out of half the things on the menu. I had a tasty burger, but I think it gave me E.D. I had to take the next day off from work. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, but everything else sucked. Are these guys for real? My friends & I thought it was a front for something. Pros: Lovely interior Cons: Food (ED), filthiness, Ladies must drip dry..... more

Incompetent Staff 3/19/2008

I went dancing at this place on Saturday night & bought a few drinks. My receipt was for $21, so when I see that I was charged double on my bank statement today for $42 I call them. The bartender who answers the phone, David, was very rude. He had an attitude and didn't care since he wasn't working that night and didn't want to give the phone to the manager since he was ""busy."" When I asked for his name he hung up on me. I called back and he still wouldn't say his name but finally gave the phone to the manager. Rafael, answered the phone and I don't know if he really was the manager but he was a lot more professional, although I doubt he will be reprimanding the bartender David for being so rude. Now I'm going to have to drive all the way back there today and make sure they fix the charges on my card since I don't believe that Rafael?s taking my information over the phone and saying that he will correct it after his meeting, is really going to happen. If you want to be charged incorrectly and then treated very rudely when you want it fixed this is the place to go. 9/29/08 Update more

Only come here if you have time and money to waste, enjoy tasteless cold food and terrible service. 1/18/2008

Wow. I haven?t been this disappointed since this country voted our current idiot president into office for a second term. I had vowed never to go back the last time I was there a few months ago but was dragged back. Last time we were the only people downstairs early on a Friday night until the DJ and his friend came downstairs. He decided to blast his music to impress his friend to the point we couldn?t hear ourselves talk. This last Saturday outdid that without doubt. Waiting for 45 minutes to get your order in I might understand. Waiting an hour for your food to get there and it?s cold - unacceptable. Forgetting one of the orders in the party and hurriedly trying to fill the order only to make the wrong thing and make it poorly ? very unacceptable. Charging for the original item ordered ? way out of line. To top it all off, our beers were served in plastic Budweiser cups and our waters (when we finally got them) were in pint glasses (WTF?). I only expect to pay $4 for a bear in a plastic cup if I?m at the game. Pros: You can eat Osterich burgers Cons: Everything else, it will devour part of your soul just walking in. more

Beware 1/15/2008

I've been to this establishment four times. The first time I was not very impressed but decided not to write it off. The second and third times were just fine, the food was good, the service was good it was a pleasant experience; but after this last Saturday's experience I will never go to the Blue Dragonfly ever again. There were five in our party. We sat at our table for over a half an hour before we got any service. Our drinks came in plastic Budweiser cups. Once we ordered we waited an additional 45 - 1 hour to get our food. And once we got it half of the group had cold food. Pros: Location Cons: everything else more

the word ""upscale"" used to describe this place is a joke! 1/13/2008

I made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a birthday party. When our group arrived there was no host to seat us. When we tracked down a bartender to help us they found the reservation book with our name, date, and time, but we were told that they did not have any room for us. No table was reserved for us upstairs or down. When I gave the name of the person who took our reservations he came to us and said they don't take reservations on event nights, although our names were in their book. Then the guy who screwed up our reservations completely ignored our group. No apology, no trying to accommodate us, nothing. We ended up all on our cell phones scrambling to find a place that would take 12 people on a saturday night. We found typhoon on Broadway, which I would recommend! Blue Dragonfly looks nothing like the pictures on their website. The place is a dump with a rude staff! Nothing upscale about it! Pros: got in some excercise walking three blocks from the only parking spot on the street Cons: rude and incompetent staff. a complete dump. website is misleading more

Disappointment 1/13/2008

When I have a bad experience like I did at Blue Dragonfly, and I read so many positive reviews, I can't help but wonder if the staff and their friends are populating the database with grand reviews in efforts to drum up business. Pros: Decent decor Cons: Slow service & poor food quality more

Absolutely Horrible 1/4/2008

I went there last night for a wedding proposal dinner and the restaurant is a total trainwreck. The bartenders did not know their drinks and were quite rude. The calamari was burnt, bland and had too much batter. The burgers were overrated, you are better off going across the street to Jack 'N the Box for 1/3 of the price. It seemed like the restaurant was trying too hard to be a high-class restaurant and they are far from it. Cons: Everything more

Love it! 1/1/2008

We had our Christmas party here on December 8th. I cant begin to tell you how wonderful we were treated! The night started with the DJ playing tunes a 7:00 pm, great way to start a party for hairstylists since we like to dance. I ordered 8 different appetizers for the party, all were very good. Anything we wanted, we got. I would highly recommend Blue Dragonfly for your next party, or just stop by for dinner. Pros: Wonderful food, great atmosphere Cons: n/a more

NOW HAS POOL TABLES & A JUKE BOX! 12/17/2007

I've always loved BDF but I'm especially excited now that they have 2 pool tables & Juke box upstairs now. Pros: THE STAFF, THE FOOD, NEW ATMOSPHERE Cons: Parking, Patio more

Excellent find for happy hour! 11/29/2007

My husband and I wanted to get some late night eats, and so we went onto citysearch to find a restaurant that was open after 10 and worth the drive. There were some very nice reviews about Blue Dragonfly, so we decided to go for it. Am I ever glad we did! We came in shortly before their upstairs bar closed, and I know the bartender probably wasn't thrilled to see us, but he didn't show it for one moment. He was absolutely wonderful about seating us, taking our orders, even checking with the restaurant kitchen (which was closing for anything other than bar orders) to see if they would make my husband a steak! He went out of his way to provide us with happy hour prices (even though we technically ordered after happy hour) and was prompt about getting us drinks and whatnot. The prices, also, at Blue Dragonfly, although they are a mite steep for the dining room (it is worth it, trust me!), are absolutely unbeatable in the bar. $4 Happy hour food, including burgers and fries (literally the best burgers I've ever had), lamb skewers, and more. Their drinks are original, inventive, and well-presented.We have already been back 3 times with friends, and I will definitely be back soon! Pros: Excellent service, atmosphere, food, value Cons: Upstairs bar closes a little early, but there's another bar downstairs more

Dragonfly is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get! 10/2/2007

We have eaten there 12 times. We have had times that we have had the best food and extraordinary service. Lately, they had only one person serving the bar and the restaurant. I felt guilty for asking for anything but I was starving after waiting for 20 minutes. We got old bread that was stale. They changed their menu and got nothing we wanted. I gave it to my dog it was so bad. Another time they were out of several things and gave me stuff I was allergic to and did not tell us they substituted without mentioning it! The other times we have been there had great food, service, and environment. Pros: Sometimes they put increible things on the menu Cons: Inconsistant experiences more

truly awful 9/26/2007

I have never had worse service or food anywhere. Every single order at our table was screwed up, they were out of nearly every item we ordered from the menu, and the food that did come out (which took forever) was somehow both ice cold and extremely overcooked. One person at our table ordered coffee and was given tea. When she pointed it out, she was told that it was not tea, it was, in fact coffee. I don't know too many people who don't know the difference between how tea and coffee tastes, so it made no sense to me that the waitperson chose to argue this point. We were the only customers at dinner time, so it's not like they were slammed. Pros: good location Cons: I wouldn't eat there again even if the food was free more

Love Love Love It!!! 8/13/2007

This place is simply fabulous!!! The ""Mixologists"" are incredible, the Staff is as well. Everything is perfect, the music, the atmosphere, the food, the drink etc. It is simply wonderful. Great drink menus etc. Very knowledgable staff, etc. Happy hour 3 to 6 and 10 to 12 pm. Can't go wrong!!! You have to come check it out, downtown hipness, on the EastSide!!! You won't be sorry! Pros: Great food, great selection, AMAZING DRINKS! Cons: Parking more

cozy - friendly - yummy 7/7/2007

LOVE IT! 7/5/2007

The staff AND the GM are always pleasant and professional. Great seasonally adjusted menu too, there's nothing like it in that area. The atmosphere is relaxed earlier in the week and more party-like on the weekends. They also try to keep it interesting with different exclusive events. I highly recommend checking it out. Pros: staff, atmospere, food more

wow what a lemon 5/20/2007
