A Must See! 5/24/2008

I stopped into Blinky's today, for the first time of (hopefully) many to come. It is a very small shop literally packed with antiques and collectibles, and many treasures to be found, but the greatest antique in the store is Blinky himself. If you are stopping in to meet the clown, you will simply find the kind-hearted 86+ year old man behind the clown. I was transported back to a time when I was a child, watching his show. I have heard stories of a crotchety old man who sits and curses at cars going by... but that is not what I found today. I came away with a couple of small treaures myself, but the greatest of all was meeting Russell Scott. Pros: A quaint little shop Cons: Hard to move around more

Blinkys 7/6/2007

Relax folks, Blinky is a Kind and gentle man. So maybe his uses the occasional 4 letter word. Who Dosen't? I have purchased Thousands of Dollars in Antiques from the man so I feel I know him well. Before you gripe about his attitude, let me remind you this: he is in his late 80's, his show was pulled out from under him, his wife left him and took his money with her. After working Years and Years, he now must run his store to be able to afford to live. Think..when you are well past retirement, do you want to HAVE to work to be able to afford the little things in life...like food, electric, etc...??? I Love Blinky! I think I will go there and buy something right now..... Pros: Great Antiques! Great Man! more

Coolest tiny store heaped with neat stuff with Blinky to boot. 11/25/2006

Okay crazed fan if you were in adoration of Blinky I don't think this is a place to go worship a clown. Rather it is an amazing nook to stumble upon a sanctuary that Blinky has preserved himself. I walked in and was transported to another, well time, and place. Despite another review I read here, Blinky had a big smile in spite of an oxygen tank, answered all my questions and offered extra help and ancedotes. Like anyone I am sure he has good and bad days. I fell in love with the space. He is an obvious music lover (various jazz and 30's era musicians were being played when I was in) and historian and really the best way to see the shop is to stand in one place (it is tiny) and take it all in. If you want a space that is in a linear order and everything has its place this may not be for you. If you want to discover living history go to Blinky's. As a plus packrat antiques is on this block also.... Pros: character, living history, great place to discover Cons: not for those who like shopping to be orderly more

Disappointed & Saddened 8/22/2006

I went in to Blinky's antique shop when I found out there was such a place. I thought it would be really cool as I was on his show as a Birthday Guest when I was really little. I had fond memories of being on his show. Got to wear the red nose and spin the record player! Went into his shop and was greeted by barely enough room to move and a very grumpy and uncourteous man. Looked around and bought a few things. While checking out I told him that I was on his show when I was little (like I am sure many people have told him) and he said ""Yeah, so what."" I had a brief fleeting thought when I walked into his shop about asking for a signed picture of him in his Blinky Garb. His response dashed my thoughts of asking for a signed picture. I find it sad that a man who spent his life dedicated to making children happy had turned into a grumpy old man. Who knows, maybe it was the show itself and doing it day in and day out that made him bitter. I'm just sorry that a man I grew up watching daily ended up becoming so unhappy. Pros: On Broadway Cons: Not enough room to even turn around and Blinky was grumpy when I was in his store more
