First Rate Service Plain and Simple 4/25/2008

Blackbird provides first rate customer service...similar to that of Nordstrom's. I purchased a pair of designer jeans and they ripped after only a few wears. The store's customer service manager promptly listened to my concerns and ordered a new pair. \r \r The store's selection rivals other men's boutiques...if not surpassing them altogether. Definitely recommended! more

Terrible Customer Ser vice on Defective Jeans 2/24/2008

I purchased a $200 pair of jeans and after only wearing them for half a dozen times they ripped when bending over to pick something up. This has never before happened to me nor have I ever heard of this happening to any of my friends. The jeans were made of a lighter weight denim but did not fit me tight. I went to the store in Ballard to inquire about a refund or store credit for defective murchandise. They told me they could not help me and I had to email the owner which I did more than once but have never received a reply. Buyer beware! Cons: Horrible Customer Service more

Coolio clothes/shoes 1/6/2008

I visited Blackbird last fall....super cool store. Great modern clothes you won't find just anywhere. When I found some shoes I wanted on the web site the staff was super helpful in finding what I wanted and shipping it out right away. Absolutely stellar service!!!! more

blackbird might as well be a woodpecker 11/29/2007

i was visiting seattle this past weekend with my twin brother and my girlfriend. many friends had told us to check out blackbird.\r the staff treated us very poorly and hardly even said hello to us as we entered the store. one guy did not look up from his magazine the entire time. i had trouble finding my size and if the staff had actually done their job, i would have bought many things. i could have easily found these designers back home in los angeles but i wanted to go to blackbird because i had been told so much about it. it was an awful experience and i will never make that mistake again. i should have just gone to the spaceneedle like normal tourists. Cons: poor service more

Best Men's store 7/20/2007

Without a doubt.....Black Bird is the best men's clothing around! If you want something that not everyone else has, this is the place to go. Staff has always been very helpful. Always recommend to the stylish boys. more

Blackbird Does It For Me 4/10/2007

I am a big Blackbird fan. I started shopping there a year ago and was very pleased with what I found. I have finally been able to find clothes that fit my body type well. I am a tall skinny guy and growing up in the midwest there was not a stich of clothing that fit my body in a flattering fahsion. Now I feel more confident and receive many compliments on the way I look. I am proud to say that most of it is either from Blackbird, or labels that I have bought/heard of/seen at the store. \r \r I have also scored some amazing items there on sale:\r *An APC suit priced at $750 that I got for $250\r *A Guilded Age cashmere sweater priced at $600 that I got for $125\r *A pair of Iron Army jeans priced at $235 that I got for $65\r \r I have also picked up some items thereand gladly paid full price. \r \r Finally, I think that the owner Nicole is fantastic. I have emailed here a few times with questions on items that I have seen at other stores and in other cities and she has eitehr hunted them down or already ordered them and pulls my size when they arrive. Plus the blog is helpful when it comes to keeping an eye on what is new and when there are sales to be had. more

Best Mens Clothing Store in the U.S. 4/10/2007

Blackbird is in my opinion the best mens high end shopping destination around. If you are looking for hard to find, limited editions designers this is the place to go. There staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and there blog is updated daily for out of state customers like myself. It is sometimes hard for guys to find cool casual clothes but going to Blackbird is like compiling the best of the best selection of clothes, accessories and cosmetics for men from a great selection of lines. I highly suggest checking it out if ever in Seattle. Pros: Great Selection and Service Cons: I wish there was more than one location. more

What's lacking in Customer Service is made up with Sales! 12/31/2006

It's very upsetting to see the shirt I got just recently is on sale. The guy who sold me the shirt didn't even mention that it was going to be on sale. If they want my business back, they should be more on top of their customer service instead of acting like ""we're too cool to help you but we'll pretend to be laidback and be your friend."" I want service, not your friendship! If Iwant friends, I'll go hang out w/ my bros! \r On the flip side, the fact that they keep having sales makes it worth coming back. They have Cheap Monday jeans for like 60 bucks and it rocks. So why they think I'll even look at their other jeans over $200 for the same look???\r \r Wait for their sale as it's often and we always find deals. Pros: Sales Cons: bad customer service, more

Trendy DJs do not make jeans worth $250 12/6/2006

Just because John Richards likes this store does not make it cool. Granted, if you're living on a 100+K salary from a publicly supported station and supplementing that with a record label that you plug while on air on said publicly supported station, well then you might think 250 for a pair of GDamn jean is OK. \r The clothes in Blackbird are like those you'd find at the mall but some have extra screenprinting or embroidery on them. Thus $160 for a shirt. Some of the fashions within are pretty nice, but you'd better flash some bling if you want the holier-than-tho floor clerks to give a cherry scented poof about you. \r Joe ordinary couldn't afford a tie in this out-of-place Ballard Boutique.\r I need extra thumbs to rate this one, but for now, I only have 2 to point towards hell.\r Pros: Galaga Video GAme - but it's facing the sun so even when it IS on, it's not good Cons: Wicked Expensive, Blah fashions, holier than thou service more

Towards the top 11/27/2006

BB for those of you who appreciate and enjoy brands that aren't carried in nordys or macys will love it. Those of you who buy your shoes from Costco probably not. I can't disagree with another reviewers perception, but I can tell you that I have become very fond of the people that work there and sometimes chat for 20 minutes without buying a thing and if this means you didn't get help right away, I am sorry. Pros: Great labels Cons: Weird customers more

Best mens wear in seattle 11/26/2006

Apc, julian reds, iron army. \r They have great stuff and super friendly and helpful people. Pros: good atmosphere more

Poor customer service and high price 11/19/2006

I was trying several winter coats in a dressing room with a help from a male staff. I had some questions on an APC coat I was trying, to which he could not answer, which was totally OK. Then he went off to get a help from seemingly the store owner to get the answer. Then to my surprise, I was asked to come out from the dressing room and to come to where they were, where the store owner and the other female staff were just chatting on random topics sitting on a sofa. Come on! I was a customer and they should have come to the dressing room where I was in and should have answered to my questions, instead of asking me to come to where they were. I was not expecting great customer service, but their customer service was way below my standard. Needless to say, this snobbish store owner didn't say any greeting words (like bye or thanks for coming) when I left the store after I bought the APC coat. I would go to other fine men's clothing stores in Seattle, where they offer better customer service with better clothing selections. Pros: Location Cons: Poor customer service and high price a season old clothing more

cool clothes.....lame service 10/31/2006

i think the guy that was rude to me was eventually fired..he was very very pushy. i go to this store often....can't seem to get great service....clothes are pricey so i look for sale items more

Don't Waste Your Time !!! 7/13/2006

Friends had told me that I had to check this store out. I like better designer clothing. I live downtown, where there are quite a few good men's clothing stores. I went one Saturday with some guys that I play baseball with. I was shocked at seeing last years styles in a store that was supposed to be an updated fashion venue. What a joke. I saw some things that I had seen at Ross. Who are they kidding. This place is out of the way, not well priced, with bad customer service or none at all. I make a nice income and can afford to wear nicer clothing. I wouldn't suggest anyone of the like to go here. I am not sure I would recomend anyone to go here. The staff was not helpful. It seemed to be a bother to have 3 guys in their store when they were too busy discussing their hangovers. You can take a Target T and throw some paint on it and you will get the same affect, but the people at Target are interested in your presence in their store. Hated it!!! Pros: Step up from Goodwill. Ballard had a space to fill. After they go out of business, maybe they can get a real store. Cons: Everything about this store. I recommend you stay downtown. It is not worth the trip. more

Not Worth the Trip 7/8/2006

My fiancé is from San Francisco and was spoiled by the plethora of unique men's boutiques. Upon recently relocating to Seattle, I'd hoped that Blackbird would fill this niche. Sufficed to say we were both sorely disappointed. I know for a fact that several of his favorite stores in the bay area were stocked with items now featured in Blackbird's window over a year ago. Why would anyone want to pay full price for clothes that have by now made their way to second hand stores? The fact that the sales people did not even acknowledge us is further incentive not to commute out to Old Ballard Ave. any time soon. Pros: At least it's not a waste of a location Cons: Old clothes, New prices more
