I had the grouper sandwhich and it was so small and tasted terrible. Service was ok. I can't wait for Anchor High to open back up way better food and they don't drain your wallet...

Terrible Service 7/5/2011

we took friends out for what we thought would be a nice dinner on the lake. more

Best Place in Town!! 4/25/2011

Best Marina 4/19/2011

Loved loved loved everything about this place. Food, service and atmosphere were amazing. Highly recommended. I will be spending a lot of time there this spring and summer. more

Terrible Place 7/12/2010

Black Jack cove is not only operated by 2 owners who are rude but clearly have no clue how to treat their customers. Over the weekend we not only had terrible service at the Black Pearl but the steak for $18.95 was paper thin and rubber. You can get a better steak at the Waffle House! Not worth your money. Tried to inform management about it and they can care less. Oh, did I mention that I am also a paying customer of a slip rental? Guess what is coming out of their marina this month..... more

Nashville's Fanciest Fun Marina 7/5/2010

We can't believe how great the BlackJack Cove is now! It is a fun, friendly, fabulous Marina and I can't wait to get back. This past holiday weekend there were seafood and brunch buffets, live outdoor music, a new tiki bar, and all the fun you'd expect on the lake. We are glad to see someone put TLC on that old run down marina! Pros: Awesome Atmosphere, Fabulous Food more

Mangement is Horrible. Will not go back 6/16/2010

We have used this Marina for years but the new management is absolutely horrible. Be very careful where you park. They will tow your car while you are having dinner then yell at you. Maybe they are in a partnership with the towing company which charged us $175.00 to get our car back. What a racket. Never again. I'm so sorry that they give Old Hickory a bad name. We would never go back. Pros: No pros Cons: Management treats people horribly more

VERY SLOW KITCHEN, Plan on 1hour MIN for food after ordering 6/8/2010

I have been to Blackjack Cove 3 times in the past 3 months. 1 time on a weekend night ""Prime Time"", once on a midweek evening and once this last Saturday at 2pm. The first time was pretty packed and the food took over 1.25 hours to arrive once we sat down. It took over an hour to get a table that night but that was almost expected. The second time in the mid week we had an identical experience only there was not even a half full house. Over an hour to get the food once ordered. We almost walked out, but then saw our waiter coming with our food. The third time was also identical only the decks were clear. The third trip we had our kids and ordered their food immediately. It still took over an hour to get out chicken fingers and burgers out. I say burgers because they forgot the cheese?. Pros: Great location for a group with unlimited time to eat Cons: VERY SLOW!! Somewhat Overpriced. more

Nice place but to over priced and food fair at best. 5/29/2010

I had the grouper sandwhich and it was so small and tasted terrible. Service was ok. I can't wait for Anchor High to open back up way better food and they don't drain your wallet. Pros: Very nice inside and out Cons: food not great and to high for what you get. more

Nice atmosphere, Good Food, bad service 5/10/2010

Easter was the first time for Sunday brunch and I've been a few times since. I took my visiting family for Mother's Day yesterday. The food is good, the atmosphere is the draw but there's one problem for brunch and it's huge if you're there to spend time with friends or family. My first plan was to email the restaurant but there's no website or email address I can find. This isn't a new problem. It should have been addressed before Mothers Day: We were there for 2 hours. I waited for a waffle for my mom for over 30 min when I should have been with her for her Mother's Day brunch! The guy in line behind me was obviously irritated. The chef shuffled waffles and pasta like a pro but each person ordered for their parties and got 1 or 2 whole waffles (those giant ones which are a meal at other restaurants) which just increased the wait. If you could just walk up, you'd take a couple of sections and come back if you wanted more.

The line for W & P forms along the dessert table so people don't know about desserts or can't get to them. Lines for those and omelets interrupt diners. Our server did not tell us that we didn't have to wait in the same line for pasta. I heard another server telling her table this. People stood for a long time before they knew they could branch off for pasta or roast beef.

Furthermore, there is nothing you can get that doesn't require someone making it for you on the spot besides roast beef, potatoes and vegetables. They need more self-service if they want people to return or more help (and irons).

I hope they get it together. I insisted on my family coming to this place...they won't listen to me again. I won't be back until I hear it's better. They can buy waffle irons at Wal-Mart if they don't want to spend $ for the commercial brand and the problem will decrease significantly. They will turn tables quicker, the irons will pay for themselves and the servers won't have it taken out on them (which we knew better than but I know others took it out of the tip). Pros: Great Atmosphere, Good food. Cons: Extremely long wait at brunch. more

This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I've ever had! We had the same tpye experience as another reviewer. We sat at the bar area and waited almost 20 min. for someone to come wait on us. I finally went to the bar and asked if anyone was waiting on our table and was rudely told by the bartender that someone would be there in a minute. Another 10 min. later we still had no service. I went back to the bar and asked again and was told they were in the middle of a shift change and someone would be there in a minute. He gave us menus and sent us back to our table. We finally had a waitress come to our table. When we tried to order food she told us we would have to move to another area b/c they didn't serve food after 4 pm. in that area. Now had they come to us when we first got there then we could have placed our order. We asked to see the manager. She was very rude so we then asked to see the owner. We tried explaining what happened and he tried to tell us that food was never served out there and that you had to come to the bar to get service. When I tried to tell him that I had asked the bartender 2 different times if we needed to come to the bar for service and we were told no, he didn't want to believe me. By the end of the ""conversation"" he was yelling at us and banging his hand on the table. After his ranting, he walked over to his staff and took a bow. I was absolutely mortified! I have never been talked to they way I was ""talked"" to by this man (if you can call him that). He has no clue how to run a business and I will do all I can to make sure everyone knows about my experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! Cons: rude staff, horrible service, terrible owner more

Do Not Go There To Eat!!!! 4/18/2010

My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. I had heard of the Black Pearl and really wanted to try it out. So we got all dressed up and drove 45 minutes to get there. We asked to be seated outside because it was nice out even though a little windy. The hostess says (very rudely) ""Well, you're going to get cold, but whatever you want."" As we are being taken to our seats, we ask if we can sit in the bar area. The guy says its fine and told us someone would be right with us. 20 minutes later no one had even acknowledged us. The bartender even looked right at us and kept on working, didn't smile or even say hello. We finally got up and asked the hostess if someone was going to wait on us and she said we had to go to the bar to get served, even though we were told that someone would be coming to the table. So we ended up leaving and I thought I would call and talk to a manager since it was just a misunderstanding and thought they should at least tell people they have to order from the bar instead of letting them sit there for 20 minutes looking stupid. So the very rude (young) manager said ""Well, what do you want me to do about it?"" are the manager, right? Maybe you should act like one!!! We will never go back there again, and from the looks of the overpriced menu, I'm glad. Cons: Rude managers, bartenders that ignore you more

Had a great time Sunday 8/11/2008

We rented a pontoon Sunday and had a great time.Yes,The pontoon showed some wear, but it is a rental. We had no problems with Captain Smitty and his crew.As a matter of fact,we rather enjoyed his company. Pros: Great Service and value Cons: Pontoon showed some wear and tear more

I have never been more disappointed in my life. ""Captain Smitty"" was the worst person I have ever dealt with when renting a boat. The boat was completely subpar and the completely overpriced. I will never go back to this place as we were treated like children who knew nothing. I would be EMBARRASSED if I ran my business like that idiot chooses to run his. If you're looking for a nice enjoyable day on the lake, DO NOT go here. There are plenty of places around Nashville to rent boats that will treat you better. And you are SURE to get a better boat than what this place will give you...I PROMISE. Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS TERRIBLE MARINA!!! Pros: Hopefully you're drinking Cons: Everything about this experience more

I have rented many boats in many different states and several around the middle tennessee area. This was BY FAR the WORST experience I have ever had (and the 7 other people I was with will echo this). We got the WORST boat I have ever been on in my life. The seats were busted at the seams, there were cob webs all over the place, and dead insects everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. We just laughed it off because we wanted to have fun no matter what. We actually drove the boat for about 45 minutes before parking for the majority of the day. When we wanted to head back to the marina, the boat wouldn't start. We called the marina and they sent someone out there to jump our piece of junk boat. Meanwhile the guy who jumps our boat breaks the side door completely off. We don't think much of it since this guy works for the marina. When we get back, ""captain smitty"" (might as well be called ""captain sh%$#y"") proclaims (before we even park the boat) that ""obviously no one on this boat knows how to drive a boat"". Then he says, ""you guys need to explain to me why this door is broken off"". As we try to tell him it was one if his employees that broke it, he just simply cuts us off (while a worthless metro police officer stands behind him) and says we have to pay for it. As soon as anyone speaks up, he just cuts them off and says we're paying for it. One of the girls we were with says, ""we didn't break that door"" and he has the nerve to say, ""girl I can tell you one place you can go with that mouth and that's out of here"". Then he accuses us of keeping the key turned on the whole day which was why the boat wouldn't start (NOT WHAT HAPPENED). We were charged $75 for that door and the boat was the biggest piece of junk I have ever ridden on. Not even an operating radio!!! To add injury to insult, my girlfriend was trying to get through the exit door when he swings it open from the other side hitting her in the face, yelling at her. NEVER RENT HERE THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!! Pros: None!!! Cons: EVERTHING!!! more

Avoid 4/22/2008

More of a trailer park than a Yacht Club. Forget enjoying a quite weekend or day at the lake here. Old wooden boats that sink every so often and people working on them constantly. If you love the sound of grinding and pressure washing this might be your place in the sun. Pros: it is on the lake Cons: too much noise, people working on boats more
