We were in Wisconsin Dells this past weekend with our children ages 5,6 and 9. We went to the Wild West Buffet (formerly Black Bart's). It was not very good at all. The ad that I read for the buffet sounded like everything a family with younger children would want. They had added a build your own ice cream sundae bar and had items on the buffet for children as well as adults, this was according to the ad that I read. I guess that they forgot that they were suppose to have a sundae bar because there was not even ice cream for the children. The items on the buffet "especially for children" were, um, mac and cheese. I have to say that the flavor of that was good at least. Other items were fried chicken, BBQ ribs and pork, mashed potatoes, corn, salad bar, a few desserts (cakes, pudding, jell-o), fish, shrimp and some other things that I am unsure of what they were. I had a variety of things and none of it was actually hot it was more on the luke warm side. I like my food to be hot and at least look like it is fresh. There was nothing that I ate that I would say was really good and would go back for. I was very disappointed in the entire experience. It cost us $45.00 to eat there and that was with a 10% off coupon. I found it over priced and not worth it to ever go back. The staff was not very friendly and the first person you see when coming in the door is the cashier, that was sad. This particular employee was eating a big piece of cake at the register, not what I really want to see when I walk in or when I leave. I guess we should have left as soon as we walked in and were greeted that way. Not one person ever asked how things were, they just walked past the table grabbed plates, even when they still were in front of you with food on them! When we left the cashier never said thank you for coming, have a good night, not a word and she is the last person you see walking out! We have eaten there when it was Black Bart's during other visits to the Dells and it was good then, I am not sure what happened! I guess that when it changed names and turned into three different eating establishments it changed in quality too. I would recommend going to a different restaurant while in the Dells, if you want a buffet go to Danny's located near Great Wolf Lodge.
