Excellent Food, Too Loud 7/8/2010

Went here with a work group and had an excellent dinner, although even up on the balcony it was too loud to hear anything. Their mussels, french onion soup, and steaks are particularly notable. more

Delicioux 5/4/2010

Michelle is very friendly and inviting. The mussels, veal and regular steak with fries are delicious. Lobster bisque soup is very good. Once I eat a fish served right from the pan. I inquired for it another time, but they explained that they no longer prepared it that way. Hopefully, they will get that fish dish back again. more

great beers and awesome french fusion 4/27/2010

Bring your appetite and your patience, but only for a brief wait at the beginning before you're seated. Once you've got a table, the servers are fast as lightening. But pace yourself, because Bistrot du Coin has an amazing menu with a complete selection of French-inspired foods from mussels, to fish, to steak and frites!, to pastas, salads, and more more more. No matter what you eat, how full you get, and how sluggish you feel after eating at Bistrot du Coin, you must order dessert. They have perfectly crackable Creme Brulee that cannot be missed. For the gourmet style food served at this place, it is priced very moderately. Nice beer selection, too! Pros: awesome beer selection Cons: long wait times more

My favorite restaurant in DC 4/8/2010

Hands down favorite restaurant in DC. (Of course, it helps that it's right around the corner from my house.) Everything I've ever had has been delicious, authentic and decently priced. Having lived in Paris for 5 months, this is probably the closest you can get to feeling like you're in Paris in DC. Make sure you make a reservation or get there early because it fills up quickly, especially on the weekend! more

Am I Spoiled? 3/24/2005

Though this place was recommeded in Frommer's and Fodor's, my experience here was just so-so. Even though I enjoyed the food, it did not provide the 'splash' that I would expect from this oft reviewed restaurant. The place was bustling, and the diners seemed to enjoy themselves. However, the waitstaff all had dour expressions on their faces and gave me the impression that they did not want to be there. The mussels were good, and the duck confit was better. My girlfriend had a better time than me, so maybe my expectations were just higher. Main drawback, especially for me coming from California, was that the restaurant allowed smoking at the tables. Lastly, the poached pear ice cream dessert was great. Cons: Noise, Service more

french food without pretentiousness 3/3/2003

The ambience is cosy and the food is spectacular. Not to mention they have great bar and dessert selections. For the calibre of the food, it's surprising that you don't have to dress fancy. The un-snootiness and comfortable atmosphere of this French restaurant makes it a great place to bring dates or just hang out with your friends over dinner. Pros: very authentic, semi-casual, good for dates Cons: slightly expensive, crowded on weekends, hard to find parking more
