Quality maternity/baby store, good people 7/26/2006

If you are expecting, or know someone who is, I highly recommend visiting this store. Located in Madison Park (E. Madison and 27th), this store carries quality items for the mothers to be and the baby. They carry slings, belly balms, Under the Nile clothing and a wonderful selection on Nursing bras. The people are very helpful and they are a great resource for what's happening holistic in Seattle. ( http://www.birthandbeyond.com ) more

Definitely worth a visit 5/3/2006

This is a must for all pregnant and new mothers. It is an amazing store! The sales staff is exceptional and definitely know their stuff. They will be able to recommend the non-traditional items and also help you find the items that you’ll need. We were able to rent a pump from them after my daughter arrived. Having a sleep-deprived mother in the store was enough for sure, but they weren’t fazed at all. They took the time to explain all the features on the pump and answered all our questions. It is definitely worth making a trip for! more

Quality over quantity! 3/22/2006

It is a huge benefit to expectant and new parents to be able to enter a store where they know the products are all high quality and not be overwhelmed by hundreds of strollers. Note that Birth and Beyond does not sell infant formula, which is an imporant reason to give them your business over the big box baby stores. more

A great new mother store 3/10/2006

They have been around for a while, and as a mother and member of Seattle's birth community, I am so glad for it! I send all of my clients and students here. They have the best knowledge of products and resources in the area. They also have a place for us birth folk to put out our cards, and they have been ardent supporters of doulas and midwives. They put their money where their mouths are, and they are by far the best birth and breastfeeding resource anywhere. Great pump selection, nursing bras, fantastic ring slings (the Birth and Beyond Ring Sling, it's the best!), cloth diapers, etc..... more

Worth the trip! 9/2/2005

Before my daughter arrived, I bought a few nursing bras here and found their selection to be unsurpassed. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and is quick to call you back if you have ordered or reserved an item. After my daughter arrived, I have found myself returning week after week for other great things they have such as extra parts for the Medela pumps, wraps/slings and more bras! I highly recommend visiting this place in Madison Park if you are pregnant. more

Birth & Beyond Underwhelmed, Merry Go Round beats all 8/25/2005

Yes, they do have some essentials and it is convenient if you live in the neighborhood. HOWEVER, their exchange/return policy is incredibly difficult and is not catered to a busy mother! Even with items clearly marked with their tag, they act as though you shoplifted the goods and are trying to scam them. (I was trying to exchange unneeded/unused/unopened goods and ultimately spend more money on other things.) The woman there was sadly unhelpful, and sent me away to locate a receipt. I completely understand this policy for returns, but think it's a bit tough for an exchange when the item clearly was from their store. Two trips later, receipt in hand and vowing never to return, I was able to make the exchange only to find they no longer had what I wanted and the same woman basically said 'oh well.' On a more positive note I LOVE Merry Go Round, and have found everyone there wonderfully helpful. It is worth the slightly longer drive to Bellevue to receive great service and a wonderful selection. I love supporting small businesses, and they have mine! more

All of the birth and baby essentials 8/20/2005

This store doesn't have large plastic baby accoutrements or furniture, but what they do have is all of the bottles, pacifiers, cloth diapers, breast pumps (for rental or for purchase), nursing bras, nursing stools, creams for you and baby, parenting and birth books, baby toys, and itty bitty baby clothes that you actually need. more

A Supportive Place for Parents to Be 8/19/2005

I purchased a breast pump from Birth and Beyond and was very happy with the advice and service I received. Initially I was a little hesitant because the whole store concept seemed a bit earthy and granola-y for me. There is plenty of that crunchy, touchy-feely stuff for those who want it, but there is also good basic information and supplies for any parents who have questions and need practical supplies for their newly arriving baby. more

Lots of unique items for pregnancy 8/19/2005

This is where to go to find your belly support belts and that perfect fitting nursing bra. The staff is helpful, although only one seems to be working at a time, so you may have to wait your turn to get assistance. The changing area is a little cramped too. But, it's a good place to find things that you never knew you needed for pregnancy. more

All newborn baby things under one roof 7/7/2005

This is a great store that I stumbled upon when I needed to rent a breast pump. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Every pump-related product was available and we well as other pricey but high quality goods like burp rags, nursing bras, and products to help with milk production. The Seatte store is small so it can feel crowded rather easily but that shouldn't stop your from visiting, especially when preggo. They even have a reading room where you can browse/borrow various "crunchy" type pregnancy/birth related books. Their website is also pretty decent. more

beauty in burp cloths 7/4/2005

Beautiful fabrics making up baby-slings, hats and burp rags are just a few of the well-stocked items at this birthing and parenting resource center. Whether or not you buy one of the baby-slings at this particular store, the shop-keepers will take time to show you how to use it. My wife found nursing bras that were both comfortable and stylish. more

A must-see for pregnant women and new parents 8/23/2004

I think every pregnant woman should visit Birth and Beyond. It is a small store packed with products targeted mostly at the "attachment parenting" set. They have many products to support breastfeeding including nipple shields, nipple shells, nursing bras, boppies, gel packs, etc. They also carry some sweet gift items like knitted hats and soft toys. more

great products and knowledgeable salespeople 7/25/2004

This place carries a lot of hard to find baby/pregnancy items like good nursing bras, homeopathic gas drops for baby, beart pump replacement parts, a wide selection of baby slings, etc. No matther what you are buying there, the salespeople really know what they are talking about. On the down side, sometimes the sales people can be a little slow to help you if they are waiting on someone else. more
