Love, love, love the burgers 9/20/2010

The burgers here are the best! It's probably that they use a lot of butter on the bun, but mmm! Also a great place to eat on the patio, even when it's hot. They've got mist-ers to keep you cool. more

A welcome addition to the neighborhood 5/22/2009

Living right around the corner I'm so happy that someone stepped in and fixed up Billy's. It's a great neighborhood spot with friendly staff and friendly patrons. My one complaint is the food prices seem to be a lot higher than equivalent bars. $8.45 for 7 tiny little wings is ridiculous, it doesn't even qualify as an app. My friends won't even join me there for wing night anymore. Pros: Friendly Neighborhood Bar Cons: Food Prices more

New and improved 5/5/2009

I have to admit that I thought this place would be a dump, even after I was told it had been totally overhauled. But I was wrong- it's a cute little spot with a decent little menu, including drinks and wine. I would say it has a bit of an identity issue- I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a bar with food, or a restaurant with a bar. The food is good if a tad overpriced and leans towards Mexican and burgers. I like the seafood options and had very good mahi and shrimp tacos, which are sold a la carte. I hope to go back and try a mojito and I thought the wine list was pretty ambitious for such a small place. The bathroom is a nightmare, though, in terms of size and whatever you do, don't sit on the patio when it's cold out. They blast it with heat to the point that you feel like you're on the inside of a hair dryer! Pros: good tacos Cons: the bathroom, parking, very hot patio more

Great Place - Bad GM 3/1/2009

I love the location as it is in the ""hood"" and the renovation is great. Pros: Great staff Cons: GM Christopher more

Lousy service 2/16/2009

Living close by I have been there a quite few times some years back in the ""dive"" days and always saw it as the typical neighborhood bar. Now sporting a new look, menu, and clientele I decided to give it a try. My first experience, albeit during the breakfast round, was not a good one. For starters there were 5 tables after my arrival, some were eating others had drinks, seemingly very lax. It took 7 minutes to be acknowledged. We (my group of 2) ordered our drinks and one of them was wrong. I had to flag down someone to correct. They ran out of coffee leaving me and other waiting, c'mon this should be a Sunday morning priority and there only 5 tables! Our food came in reasonable time but one order was botched and had to be returned. When it came back correct almost immediately we were asked if we needed anything else, all the time one of the wait staff was engaging us in conversation to quell the awkward moment, it was never noticed we had no flatware, so our answer was yes! Service & organization are poor. Pros: The stench of the former establishment has been miraculously removed Cons: A very cliched Highland startup, lackluster menu, average food, bad service, over priced more

billy's is back 2/11/2009

Billy's Inn has been on the corner of lowell blvd and 44th for decades. my father used to drink there in the 1940's when he attended regis. it has reopened mainly as a eatery with great cocktails. not a dive as before. Pros: billys is a blast from the past with great food Cons: bathrooms are tiny more

service??? 12/30/2008

Bad service! walked in and ordered a beer and when finished it took 10 min to get the bartenders attention to get another. No wonder the place is empty at peak hours. Pros: cold beer Cons: bad service more

my kinda of place! 8/28/2008

I recently went to Billy's although I usually hate ""trendy"" places-I was really happy I did! Service was great although the staff seeemed to be on top of us ( small sections for seasoned servers). It is slightly overpriced but still cheaper than alot of other places in the Highlands so that doesn't bother me at all. Food is awesome and they have really inventive drinks. Pros: service, location more

Definitely 'Meh' 8/15/2008

This restaurant was recommended to us from some neighbors from the hood. We tried it out, and while I wouldn't say it was terrible. I definitely felt a little ripped off. The menu is a little all over the place. For example, ONE taco is $3.25, and it tastes like a taco from Rubios. The only difference at Rubios the taco is $2 and has guacamole. Be careful too, if you want 1/2 cup of rice, that is $1.50, and if you want 1/2cup of beans, that ALSO is $1.50. The drinks were similarly overpriced. Anywhere you have to pay $4 for an Buttweiser product, you have to wonder how effectively the management is controlling costs. Pros: marginally ok food Cons: small portioned food, overpriced everything more

EXCELLENT Service!!! 7/31/2008

We live right around the corner from Billy's Inn and were very happy to see it renovated! We went in for the first time a couple of weeks ago and have been back several times. The service is OUTSTANDING and the food is very good as well. It is a little loud, but the atmosphere is still very fun and inviting. Great bar for the neighborhood! Pros: Service, Food, Outdoor Patio, Potato Skins! Cons: View (Safeway), A little pricey, could have a better Happy Hour more

Wasn't expecting too much, but it well exceeded expectations 7/31/2008

Billy's is the closest bar/restaurant to my house and I noticed awhile back when it first started undergoing renovations--just a few weeks ago I was stoked to see that the place was open and quite packed. After reading some initial reviews on here, I decided to check it out, but my boyfriend was less eager--he wasn't expecting much considering it was new and thought we should wait for the grand opening rush to die down a bit before trying it. I finally convinced him to go on a weeknight, and we were not disappointed. I ordered fish tacos and he ordered the burrito salad--both very delicious choices. While the restaurant was loud (what can you expect, it's a bar?), the service was great and food came out quickly. My very favorite dessert happened to be on the menu, and we were in for quite a treat with the apple pie--it was to die for. I very highly recommend people try it if they like apple desserts. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be back! Pros: Service, quality of food, outdoor patio Cons: noise level, prices a little high ($4.95 for fries?) more

Great Burger and Atmosphere 7/28/2008

I've been wanting to try Billy's for a long time - even when it was a dive, but never did. So finally after the place exchanged hands along with a full renovation, I decided to scout it out. Glad I did. Pros: Food and atmosphere Cons: The food isn't cheap, but it IS good. more

Excellent food and service 7/28/2008

Great job! Fun staff and the food is superb- especially the lobster and mahi tacos! Don't miss the bloody marys or chicken nuggets! Pros: Food, friendly staff, great patio Cons: small bathroom more

Best Burger in Denver, Hands Down! 7/19/2008

Just stopped in last night for some drinks and dinner with some friends. The atmosphere was great, the service was the best I remember having in a loooong time and the guacamole bacon burger was the most delicious thing i've ever had.hands down the best burger in denver. super cheap draft beers (pbr and domestics) and the margaritas where good. my wife had the mahi tacos and they were great and my friend had the chicken sandwich, i didn't try it but he said it was also awesome. we can't wait to go back~! Pros: great food and drinks in a great neighborhood Cons: margaritas were too small, i coulda had 10 of 'em~! more

Great remodel, best patio in town 7/14/2008

Checked the new Billy's out for dinner and drinks on what I think was the first night they were open. Pros: Cool patio, great atmosphere, excellent food & drinks more

IT'S SO LAME HERE 7/13/2008

This place is so dull, the drinks are overpriced noroom to really meet people, just very LAME, all the women are old. Pros: area Cons: $$$$, boring, no parking more

Ok I dont know what the guys deal was but I went there a couple of day s a go after it had re-opened after the remodel, I walked up to the bar which had all full seat escept a couple that had drinks there. I just wanted to get a drink and mingle around, but the BALD bartender came up in a rude tone and said these seat were taken and walked off to talk, I remember when this place was a dive at least they servred when you wanted a drink.. I live in the neighborhood but will not support this place even though the remodel is nice the service really makes it look ugly!!!!!!!! Cons: no parking, the BALD bartender, service more
