This shop is too cool for school 11/27/2010

The older bearded fella is grumpy and not helpful. He acts as if he were some zen bike master and you know nothing. I'd disagree with the other reviewers about the staff at this shop. On both my visits they were rude and far from helpful. Nothin' but grief at this one. Why would anyone give them business and not just go to another shop? Save yourself some time and money and visit one of the solid shops in Portland like 21st or River City. more

Expertise and a nice little showroom in downtown portland 9/16/2009

The guy behind the counter was not friendly, but as I approached with caution and asked fr a very specific part for my 15 year old bike, he said give me a minute, went into the bag, pulled out a bin, and found multiple options for me one of which was new in box old stock from the same era as the part i was replacing. You won't find this kind of attention to detail anywhere else in town, as far as I've seen. They specialize in track bikes and track specific parts, but I wouldn't hesitate to come back to look for parts for my road bike. Pros: goldmine for rare parts, particularly NOS Cons: guy with the pony tail is a lil snooty more

great mechanics 11/14/2005

If you love your bike and you love riding, these are the bike mechanics for you. They are honest (sometimes to a fault) and do the best work I have seen. Better by far than most of the local shops. If you're looking for knowledge with a friendly attitude see the woman behind the counter. Her grumpy companion is an excellent mechanic and very knowledgeable but he needs to work on his people skills. Both of them are skilled and leave you with the impression that they gave your bike the same care and attention that they would give their own. Pros: knowledge, helpfulness, mechanical skill Cons: occasionally grumpy more
