I ordered the Porchetta Panini and my bf had the 10 oz House Burger. We originally wanted to eat at Rocos Tacos, but when we were told the wait was an hour and a half, we decided to give Big City Tavern a try. Our server was great and was very attentive to our table of 4, despite how busy the restaurant was. It is a bit loud so it's hard to have a conversation without yelling, but the food and service made up for that. We will definitely return if we're ever in Ft. Lauderdale again. more

My wife & I ate here for the first time with another couple who go here frequently. The drinks were very good, the appitizers were also very good (we shared crab cake, calamari and meatballs). The food for 3 out of 4 of us was very good (scallops, pork loin special of the day, meatballs w/ raviloi) and one good (the pad tai). The service was 8 out of 10(which I consider almost excellent). The problem was the noise level. I know and understand that any place with a bar can get noisy, but this was outrageous. I am not an old fudyduty but this was so loud I could not hear the people at my own table even with almost shouting. It was not a pleasant experience and even though we liked the food I will not go back. more

Took a party of 15 for a Holiday celebration and I will not be goin back ever again. The service was terrible and even after speaking with management during the event no accomodations were made for us. I and most of the party will not be spending another dime at this place. Take your guests and money elsewhere... more

Take your money and party elsewhere 12/6/2011

We were a party of 15 and had made accomodations early for the party. Our waiter Steven was not very attentive and had to be called back to the table. I asked the manager Jason to accomodate us by turing the music down temporarily for the guest of honor to propose to his to girlfriend. The manager said no, I was just told to turn it up, sorry I can't do that. I paid the bill and did not make a scene at the party, but my money and most of my friends will never go back. more

We randomly found this restaurant looking for a place to eat while on vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff is very friendly. The lobster an Vermont aged cheddar macaroni and cheese is heaven! I had the grilled swordfish special which was so so. Overall however I enjoyed it and would return. Also, if you're a AAA you get free dessert! Two of their desserts come with shots too!!! more

Three of us (one from Miami, two from Michigan) ate dinner on a Friday night while business was slow. The service was average, the prices high and the food was very poor. A hamburger ordered medium done was well done, the flat bread was burned black on the bottom and the dish "recommended" by the waiter was not worth finishing. If that is what he recommends, what are the other dishes like? We will never go there again for the food. That being said, the atmosphere is very pleasant and it may be a decent place for a drink. more

Just tried this place for the first time and it was great. It is a tad expensive, but worth it. The food was awesome and the atmosphere was very lively and fun. more

It was an OK experience. We recently went there for an early lunch last Sunday so we were given both breakfast and lunch menus. Sat outside so we could people and car watch. Lots of boutique shops on the street. Breakfast menu was interesting and when everyones food came out it looked fabulous but I couldn't hel but notice that 6 of the meals around us were sent back. I have no clue why but in all fairness no customers seemed annoyed and it was replaced promptly. The hubs had his burger that was cooked to perfection and the bun even had the pub's initials branded on the bun. Fries were those shoestring kind and were bland. I had the Shrimp Cobb salad. Lots of shrimp but totally tasteless-would have been better grilled or tossed with some seasonings. The best part were the UNLIMITED Mimosas for $12 on Sat&Sun till 3 pm. Overall, a decent lunch and a good value for that neighborhood. more

One problem with this place. I had the crab cakes the first time and there's no way I'll order anything else. Best crab cakes I've ever had, and I've had a lot of crab cakes! more

Worst resturant ever! We were seated by a snotty hostest in the very back of the resturant when there was ample setting up front. We waited over 20mins with out even seeing a waiter to get drink orders. Not even water was brought while we waited. After about 25mins of no one even stopping at our table we got up and walked out. Keep in mind the place was not even busy and we could see the wait staff just standing around. Would not recommend!!!! Terrible!!? more

great spot for a drink 3/11/2011

big city is a las olas classic... a locals place that is also known for catering to the tourist crowd, but nonetheless a great place for a couple of beers with friends. they have ur typical selection on tap and the ambiance is right on. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 12/28/2010

Over priced. Bad service. We waited 10 minutes for a server to take our drink order and greeter acted annoyed with several tables that were tired of waiting for their server. I wasn't even asked if I wanted a second drink. I think this might be the worse place on Las Olas. Very disappointing and regrettable. more

2 Cabs and a bad shrimp appetizer with 4 shrimp was $38 with tip. Are you kidding me? more

Fun atmosphere/ Great food 9/11/2010

Came here after work last week. Sat at a table by the bar. Good selection of beer. Had the flat bread and was impressed. It is reasonable and better than the average rest./bar in Las Olas. I'd recommend more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 11/12/2009

Original and interesting menu, and an absolutely beautiful bar that fills up with the 'beautiful people' of Las Olas after working hours. Prices are reasonable considering the prices of some nearby restaurants. Food has always been great whenever I have gone. Great first date, or 'date night' place with the wife. more

Spectacular 7/3/2008

First off let me put to rest the previous reviews that are on this site. I don't know if management has changed or the chef or what...but the place is specatacular! As a chef I have not had a better prepared meal in years. The crab cake was perfectly cooked with a sauce that complimented it very well. The filet and the seabass were equally impressive. I had an Argetinian Malbec to go with my meal and the wine selection is perfect for the cuisine. The ambience was nice, very clean , and decorated with a nice modern touch. I would encourage everyone to try this place as I will DEFINITELY return next time I am in town. If Big City Tavern needs any help promoting their establishment they can contact me and I will be glad to help. Pros: Everything Cons: Need one in Dallas more
