Excellent in all aspects. Price, service, quality, location and atmosphere are all fantastic for a restaurant at this price point. You will not be disappointed, period.

Good ambience 5/14/2006

I think the ambiance in Big Bowl is great. Its a nice place to stop by after a day of shopping at the Michigan Avenue. The biggest pain is finding a parking spot. Be ready to shell out 10 bucks for a garage spot if you can't find a street spot. Otherwise, the restaurant is full of energy and always busy. I love the spicy thai dishes they serve there. Expect to pay 12 -16 bucks per dish, which according to the location, is not that bad. more

Expensive Thai Food 5/9/2006

Big Bowl is a big chain restaurant that has a huge menu featuring your traditional thai items. I would recommend staying away from this place. Not only will they charge you way tooo much, but you will get mediocre thai food. There are many, many more smaller, independently owned restaurants around the city that will serve you some tastier food that won't be as expensive either. However, the atmosphere at Big Bowl is hard to duplicate and if you won't enjoy the food, you will enjoy the crowd and decor of this place. more

Happy Dinner 5/7/2006

Because you can pile up as many veggies, sauces, spices, juices and berries all in your bowl, you run the risk of overdoing it. My friend put some really hot pepper thing in his, and burned his mouth so bad that it completely ruined his taste for the place. I, on the other hand, fancy myself a chef on my days off. So, my own concoction was quite delectable. The choices are endless, and if you make a mistake - you can go back and try again!! I wouldn't rate the overall taste as one of my faves, but it is definitely a fun night out and a happy dinner. more

Type the title here for your review of Big Bowl 4/16/2006

I am not too crazy about their food because in my opinion they are just offering mediocre food with average taste. I like coming here however for the atmosphere, the busy rush street by the restaurant make an interesting view in summer weekend night. So basically I come here just to enjoy the surrounding of the restaurant because they open their large glass door at summer time more

Stack it up! 3/20/2006

I've been coming to this place since I was in high school and had some of my favorite memories here. The food is pricey but not as pricey as normal restaurants on Michigan Avenue. My favorite is the self-serve stir fry where they give you a bowl and you can stack it up with whatever you want. We formulated a method where you stack green beans on top and mushrooms on the bottom. We also like the hisbiscus lemonade and the green beans. We're usually able to feed 2 people for about 10 to 15 dollars per person. more

Asian Food..NOT 3/19/2006

If you look around this so called Asian Restaurant you will hardly find Asian, you know why ? That's right !! Because their food are not authentic, or you can say they are offering American food with Asian touch. It used to be much better, but lately, their food had turn yucky to me. The only unique thing maybe because you could choose the fresh ingredient you want in your plate if you want to do their stir fry, but other than that, nothing is really special. more

Yummy.... but $$ 3/13/2006

I've had better custom stir fry (Mongolian BBQ) for a lot cheaper, but I haven't found a good place in Chicago to get it. The PadThai is decent (but again, a bit too expensive for my tastes). The resturant itself is a great place to take friends or a date. I really like the way it's decorated. more

thai food 3/2/2006

Big Bowl is a nice place to have thai food. They have lots of neat options that are on their set menu, or you can choose your own ingredients and have a custom stir fry done. Either way, their food is fresh and it is good. This restaurant also has a very lively atmosphere and great service. The food is a bit on the expensive side (you can probably get it cheaper at smaller thai places around the city), but it is definitely worth a try because it is good and fresh! more

Awesome Food! 1/13/2006

This place has really great thai food. You always get a good choice when you come here too, you can either order off the menu or pick your own veggies and sauce and they stir fry it for you! We had a great experience here. They made a minor mistake on one of our orders (gave us only chicken instead of chicken and shrimp) and they were so apologetic that the manager came over and personally said sorry and sent over a free ice cream! It's the little things like that that make this location awesome! Also, its located in downtown so its great! more
