I went to Southside Obgyn for roughly 9 years. I will not go back to Southside Obgyn. I started having issues with cervical dysplasia and abnormal bleeding. The medical guidance I received from my former doctor at Southside Obgyn was to have a hysterectomy and even recommended removing my ovaries. He would not do a biopsy on my uterus for abnormal bleeding. He simply stated that uterine cancer is rare and that my abnormal bleeding is because I am peripausal. He and his nurse were extremely pushy and argressive trying to race me into a hysterectomy. His nurse was downright rude about it. When I told them that I wanted to know different treatment options other than a hysterectomy, they stopped all communication with me. Would not return my phone calls... If they thought I was that close to cancer (as they lead me to believe) and that I needed a hysterectomy, then why wouldn't they even call me back? Wouldn't they be concerned for me? I left a couple of messages with his nurse to return my call and she did not. Absolutly no follow up. I went to a different doctor that immediatly (rushed) made arrangements for me to get a uterine biopsy to rule out cancer. He went ahead on the first appointment and did a cerival biopsy on the first appointment. My new doctor wisely states that you cannot do a hysterectomy until you rule out cancer. If you have cancer, it will change how you do the hysterectomy (lymph node removal). His view is that a hysterectomy is the last resort. While Southside Obgyn is great if you are having a baby, I rate them very poor for dealing with other female issues. My best advise is to run away (not walk away) from this facility! PS - if you have an abnormal papsmear from Southside OBGYN, make sure you get a copy of the pathology report. Do not trust what they tell you verbally regarding pap smear results and biopsy reports. You have every right to get a copy of these reports. more

tiffany, dr. bells assistant sucks she never calls you back no one from that place ever calls you back i ended losing my fmla benefits because after a week to fill out two little sections on the paper she still did'nt have it done. I called numerouse times without a call back so then i went up there the rude lady at the front desk said i would just have to wait. these people are a joke! more

Good: I used to like this group years ago. Bad: Their noncaring attitude and their inability to come to the phone unless they felt it was in their best interest to do so. Improvements: CARE. Other: None other. more

The staff is extremely unfriendly aside from one lone nurse. The lady at the front desk is rude and snappy. The women that check you in and out are impatient and snobby. They act as though you are bothering them when taking care of the patient is their job! This is my first pregnancy and Dr. Venkatesh is not informative and quite awkward. For the most part she is kind and sweet but when I asked about risks of prenatal paternity tests (because I honestly DIDN'T know), she became quite rude with me. I came to her with several questions, whether they were silly or not, she just stared at me with a smile until I asked, "IS THIS NORMAL? Is this OKAY?" To which she repeatedly replied, "Welcome to your pregnancy" with a smug look on her face. As this is my first pregnancy and I have never even been around another pregnant woman for extended periods of time, I am nervous about everything and I ask about everything and I feel this office has been much less than helpful. The only reason I gave it two stars was because that ONE nurse deserves a star of her own. She has been more informative than the doctor while talking candidly with me while I wait for my appointment. Also, a friend of mine went to Venkatesh with severe abdominal pain. The office got her information mixed up and only gave her an ultrasound on her stomach rather than vaginal. They missed a huge tumor on her ovary that was actually TWISTING her ovary. She had to come back 2 wks later after continued severe pain for them to do it right. She had surgery 2 days later. Another friend of mine went to the Southside OBGYN office during her pregnancy. Her water broke at 23 wks and she went to them out of fear and they refused to even check her out. They claimed it was normal discharge. She went into labor hours later and delivered a baby at 23 wks. Her little girl spent 3 MONTHS in the hospital recovering. I am doing EVERYTHING I can to transfer to a different doctor before I get any further in my pregnancy. I do NOT want Venkatesh delivering my baby. more

i used to think this office was a great place very pleased with the care when I was pregnant and after. Until I got a job there! That place is a joke and so is everyone that works there! Those Dr's have no clue how and who runs that office because they sure dont!!! Mostly everine there is rude and doesnt deserve to work there when there are hard working people out there that would do so much better! I wouldnt reccommend SOUTHSIDE OBGYN TO MY WORST ENEMY! Its a horrible place to work, go to and have any good patient care!!! I highly recommend with all my heart to never go to SOUTHSIDE OBGYN!!! more

I cannot believe i am STUCK with this place for 3 more months, but for insurance reasons i cannot switch in the middle of my pregnancy. the first appt i had was terrible, but i chalked it up to the staff having a bad day. but my second appt was even worse, greeted by the lady at the front of the office when you first walk in with the short hair...she says 'who is your doctor?' without even looking up at me...i could barely hear her, and i respnded 'Bell'...so she looked and looked for my appt and said 'who did you say you were seeing today?' i said 'oh im sorry i thought you asked who my dr was' and she SNAPPED at me 'NO I DID NOT ASK YOU WHO YOURE DR IS, I ASKED YOU WHO YOU WERE HERE TO SEE!' I about died! the place is PACKED with women, walking around like they don't know where theyre going, because no one tells them! the girls behind the desk, snicker and talk about the other women in there. The place is nothing more than a baby mill! i've seen only ONE nurse who shows any kind of compassion the rest are RUDE. It's a shame because Dr. Bell is a fantastic doctor, i wonder is she is aware of who works for her. The women working there act as though they are so superior to the patients, meanwhile most of them are not nurses, but simply staff who probably make no more than $12 an hour, if that. If anyone of them worked for me at MY business, which we pride ourselves on customer service and making people feel special, i would fire them without hesitation. At my next appt i can't wait to speak to Dr. Bell about this. Luckily for me, my pregnancy is going just as it should be, without any complications, but i feel bad for those who aren't having a smooth pregnancy, because they have NO concern for anyone. more

Southside OB/GYN are manipulators and liars! Their managers are awful and do not care about your needs. You can never talk to an actual person, you always get the voicemail. I would never send anyone to them. more

I cannot believe that the staff are not very caring about the patient's needs. The surgery co-ordinator seems very unprofessional. She was not very helpful at all. I would not remmend this office. Too bad for the doctors. more

This office came highly recommended to me from several different people. When I became a patient, the office did not disappoint. I was treated kindly by all of the staff from the doctor to the receptionist. The staff members have a super efficient processing system that never left me waiting. All of my questions were answered in terms that I could understand. In addition, the staff was well versed in handling my insurance. I felt like I was appreciated as a patient and look forward to being a patient for years to come. I would refer anyone looking for an OB/GYN to this office. more

Southside OB/GYN is a great and weel run doctor's office. Located inside of st Francis south hospital. This office has several doctirs. All seem very nice and professional. The office staff are very polite and helpful. Their phone system can be a little irratating, but other than I highly recommend southside OB/GYN more
