Terrible managment, food, etc. 12/29/2007

I went here on a date and I was so embarrased. Everything on the menu was over priced, for what it was. The soda was $2.50 and while they have a large list of less than desirable wines, there was no beer on the menu. I ordered a burger that was grissly and over cooked and my date ordered a pasta dish that was bland and something I could have easily made at home. My server seemed irritated when I asked for more water and I over heard her bad talking other guests from my table. I think her daughter was running around the bar area. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. Unless you enjoy overpaying for low quality food. Pros: None Cons: Bad food, bad service, bad owners, bad atmosphere more

Nice local place to grab a bite! 11/6/2007

I wouldn't say it is the best restaraunt in Portland, but it gets the job done. We usually eat here once a month or so. Not everything on the menu is great, but the food is generally enjoyable. They have a fairly wide variety of "American" food. The kids chicken fingers are not from a box, they are homemade. The adult BBQ Pork sandwich is a family favorite. If there were any FABULOUS alternatives up on this hill, we might not eat here so often, but like I said, it gets the job done. Service is pretty good! Crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. Generally quiet atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available when the weather is nice. Oh, and you can usually find a $5 off $20 coupon if you look in the local fliers. more

Great owner and staff 8/25/2005

The martinis here are great. espresso martini is the best. Order the "Mojito" yummy, very refreshing summer drink in larger size....Yeah! Pros: live music, owner, personable more

Worst service ever! 4/10/2005

I went sunday brunch with my parents, fiance and his parents. I have never been so appaled about the service stanards or the terrible food! We were there for almost an hour and never recieved coffee or drink refills or our FOOD! The When I finally asked her for refills - she still never brought them. We did not get them until I stood up and went halfway in the kitchen and asked where the coffee was. When our food finally came (1 1/2 hours later) the plates were burning hot and our food was cold. They forgot my fiances salad and did not bring butter or syrup to the table for our pancakes. My eggs and french toast were cold and disgusting! The two servers there never offered to buy anything and dropped the bill. more

steak 7/31/2004

I went there with my fiance when the restaurant first opened. It took 10 minutes to get seated when there was only 3 other parties in the restaurant. We both ordered steaks which were almost $20 each. Two bites into my steak there was a huge vein in the meat! I was so disgusted i couldn't eat the rest of my food. The server looked at our plates and asked us if we were finished commented on me not eating much. I said I would have eaten more except for the huge vein in my meat. He just said "oh" and handed us our tab. Didn't offer to get us anything else or take my meal off the bill. We haven't been back since. I was a server in a high end restaurant for 5 years I would have been appalled to see something like that in my customers food. Pros: none Cons: , poor service, poor quality of food more

On its way... 2/18/2004

The place has real potential. The Cajun Burger was the best of its type I've ever had. Love that the owner came out to chat and ask for suggestions. Pros: food, owner more

Best French Onion Soup 1/13/2004

I've been in the bar several times and I will be there again. There are TV's for sports fans, but they do not dominate the atmosphere for a relaxing cocktail after work or a game of pool. I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but I've had the French Onion Soup (in the bar) quite a few times. It is consistently excellent! There is live music and open mic nights for musicians. I really like what the new owners have done with this restaurant/bar. Pros: Atmosphere, Live Music, French Onion Soup more
