I've been frequenting this neighorhood Italian restaurant for 20 years, even though I live several miles away. It is Chicago's best kept secret for home-style Italian food. The fried calamari is my favorite in the City - lightly battered and always tender. I love their red sauce on any pasta,. The recipe is truely awesome, full of zest, texture and richness. No one else has a red sauce like this that I've found. Other favorites are the Chicken Carlo, Veal Carlo (not on the menu, but they'll make it) and anything on the chalkboard. This is not a trendy Northern Italian restaurant, nor is it the run-of the mill neighborhood spaghetti house with tired cooks. There is a vibrancy to the cooking here that is a rarity for this type of establishment. Don't miss it.
