Disaster waiting to happen 8/25/2010

IF I could give 0 stars, I would. We have been paying our rent and we now have ten business days to vacate our rental home. Why? Because Bellington did not pay the mortgage on our rental home, so it has been foreclosed upon. What kind of rental company allows their properties to be foreclosed, with tenants in them, all the while avoiding contact with tenants. If you try to call them, nobody will accept your call except a receptionist. They won't call you back. If you run into them, they will tell you that they don't know anything about the foreclosure and will tell you they'll investigate and get back to you, and they never do. Don't rent or buy from these people. You're only inheriting a mismanaged mess. If you are in this situation, I urge you to call a lawyer, then the Missouri Attorney General's office, and then the Better Business Bureau. They're probably going to declare bankruptcy, which means they've gotten away with your money. more

A Renter's Nightmare 8/20/2010

I have rented with Bellington for two years and never had any major issues with them, with the exception of maintenance being slow. Then I got the mail today. Turns out, though I've been paying Bellington monthly to rent my house, they have not been paying the mortgage company. My rental house is being foreclosed on. I tried calling them and seeing what was up and, lo and behold, everyone in the office was gone at 3pm Friday. I contacted my lawyer. If this company survives, DO NOT USE THEM. They, end the end, could very well leave you homeless. more

Very bad experiance renting a house from bellington realty. Buyer/renter BEWARE! No Maintenance bad record keeping. They act like they will care but they dont.They are loiaded they dont have to care. Check out all the $50K cars in the garage and back lot. They dont get those dealing fairly and caring about building maintenance. Zero Stars! Cons: evil people more

Bellington Realty is a good reason why we have the Better Business Bureau. I would not wish this company on my worst enemy. Do not be fooled by their cheap rent. They are going bankrupt and they will do anything to make money...including telling tenants anything they want to hear and then collecting their rent, charging hidden fees and disregarding any requests by the tenants. All they want is for you to sign the lease. Then you are trapped. And if you get fed up with them and want to leave, they will still charge you through the end of your lease and then sue you. They are MONSTERS! No one in that office cares...especially Michael Litz, the owner. I have seen the way they treat their tenants...it is awful! Their maintenance department is made up of less than 10 people for over 800 properties. Which is why nothing ever gets done properly or at all. The only reason it is easy to rent from them is because they take anyone, regardless of credit. But in the long run, they will only cause you grief. Bellington has many other names...do not be fooled! If the address of the leasing company is 226 S. Meremac, Clayton, MO....run the other way! Terrible rental company 5/23/2010

First of all, their maintenance department is AWFUL. IF you're lucky enough to talk to someone on the phone, the message gets relayed so many times that by the time the maintenance people come (if they ever come), they have absolutely no clue what they're supposed to be doing. They were supposed to have cleaned out a huge brush pile behind our shed and remove things in the shed left by a prior tenant BEFORE we moved in and it took 3 months after we moved in before we finally got them to come out. In addition, despite the fact that we told them over the phone what needed to be done, TWO different maintenance people came out so I could SHOW them what was to be removed and still they completely messed it up. They only took about half of the brush pile and completely tore down the shed (which was in great condition and was NOT supposed to be removed)! Bellington refused to replace it, despite the fact that its removal was their error. Maintenance issue #2: We noticed shortly after it started getting cold that several windows in our laundry room were cracked and/or pulling away from the rotting wood in which they were mounted. We called Bellington in OCTOBER in an attempt to get this fixed before we had to pay an absurd amount for our winter gas bills. They sent someone out at the beginning of NOVEMBER to measure the windows, as the maintenance guy said they were going to order new windows and replace them. It is now MAY and the windows have not been replaced. I can't even count the number of calls we've made and messages we've left for the maintenance department and have not even gotten a call back. Even when we've talked to a person, they always say they're going to look into it and call us back, but no one has called. And now for the kicker: We've been calling since the middle of March to find out when we would receive our lease renewal and whether or not rent would be increasing. Again, lots of messages left but no calls returned. Finally someone informed us we would get our lease renewal in the middle of April. The middle of April came and no lease. We called at the beginning of May (our current lease is up at the end of May) to find out why we hadn't received the renewal yet and they told us that they had sold our house and our only option was to do a month-to-month lease. I'm not sure when they were planning on telling us that our house was for sale and that we couldn't live here anymore, but needless to say I'm incredibly pissed off with this company. When we moved in a year ago, we had planned to stay in this house for several years. I'm glad we had already started looking at places to move (since we were generally fed up with the maintenance issues) since it seems that they would have just left us with nowhere to live. I rented from Bellington, and was very excited to live in my apartment. It was my first apartment in the city. However, I soon realized that they do not respond to maintenance calls promptly. For example, my hot water heater was broken, and it took over two weeks to fix it. I had to take either cold showers or shower at a friend's place. They did nothing to compensate me for this. This is the first time I have written a review like this. I would avoid this company at all costs. They do purchase homes at a low cost, but they do a craptastic job at fixing them up and making them ready for tenants. My roommate and I have been renting one of their properties for about 6-7 months now and we have not had a very pleasant experience. From the day we moved in, we have had maintenance issues of one kind or another. This is the only company I have rented from that charges the tenants for differnent maintance things like fixing broken door knobs, cleaning the gutters or changing the furnace filter. We have to leave more than one message on their answering machine in order to get someone out to our property. When we moved in, there was construction mess and other things we were told would be moved and cleaned up but that has not happened as of yet. I have been told by one of their employees that they want to spend as little money as possible to fix issues with their properties. Do not rent or purchase from these people. I think Bellington Realty is an important company to have around. They buy distressed properties and sell them at great prices, or I think, fix some up and rent them out. We need companies that do this. Thanks Bellington, keep it up. more

""We worked with Lisa Fox an employee for Michael Litz El Presidente' 4Bellington. We completed a walk-through & etc of the apt which we were eager to rent. Now comes moving day, we show up with a truck & Lisa Fox says they did not get the unit ready in time & promises me another. We check out the other unit because now we have no place to go & the unit is decent but dirty. We move in & 2 months later a Bellington employee named Sarah Capobianco moves above us. All smiles going in, shiny daggers coming out. She'd have company at 3am & after still partying with total disregard for her neighbors. This was all reported to Lisa Fox to which she dismissed as ""That doesn't sound like her"" Now Sarah flicks me off the next time she sees me, for telling & lets her dog **** in front of our window.In the end we ran when our lease expired & they ended up keeping 1/2 our deposit by fabricating false imperfections with the apartment.
