Beautiful Beginnings is a childcare center licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. We have also received accreditation through NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Since 1926, NAEYC has been working to define quality in programs for young children. Since 1985, the Association has been accrediting programs that meet our national standards for quality. For the past few years, NAEYC leaders and other stakeholders of NAEYC Accreditation have been engaged in a reinvention of the system, designed to ensure that NAEYC Accreditation continues to be the mark of quality -- for children and families, for early childhood programs and educators, and for all the people and organizations that recognize the importance of helping young children get a great start on learning and development. We are committed to excellence in education and strive to offer children a well-rounded pre-school and kindergarten experience that prepares them academically, socially, and emotionally for success in elementary school.
Beautiful Beginnings opened its doors in December of 1999 with 12 children and has grown to offer full-time childcare to 100 children from six weeks through six years of age. We serve an ethnically diverse population of families in Providence, the majority of who are in the low-income bracket.. We are part of the Children's Network,a partnership with other human service organizations, which offers comprehensive services to preschool children and families at our center that are economically eligible for Head Start. We are the recipient of grant from Ready to Learn Providence,to ensure our students are prepared for a successful educational experience after graduating from our center. We have received an award from the Department of Human Services for the successful integration of a person with disabilities into our staff. Also in accordance with our mission to help educators advance in the field,we have created and implemented a nine- month teacher's aide training program. Through a partial grant from the Department of Labor, these teachers attended bi-monthly workshops, which taught ways of reflecting on their practices and applying new teaching techniques. Upon completion, each teacher's aide received a raise. These are a few of the ways that Beautiful Beginnings goes above and beyond state requirements for child care centers to address the needs of the children and families enrolled in our center.
As of January 1,2004,we moved to a new location as we outgrew our former location. We are very excited about our new school, which is architecturally suited to the needs of children. All of the classrooms have natural light, toilets and sinks in the room, and a larger outdoor play area.
