You really have to get on one of these tours and have the boat take you all around NYC. There is nothing like it. They offer a variety of tours, and depending on your pocket book or your taste in water travel, there is a tour for you. I like the slow cruise myself, which gives you a full panorama view of the island and a feel for the size and the culture. Do bring something to drink, but there are snacks and liquids available. Pick a warmer day, cause it can get chilly out there in the early spring. This is another "must dos" for anyone visiting NYC. A lovely look at the City from an unusual perspective. more

How better to see NYC than by riding around its periphery 1/13/2006

Anyone who's been to NYC almost has to do the Circle Line experience because it's such a great way to see the city and gives so many interesting perspectives and beautiful views. You'll set sail from the piers on the Hudson and travel down past the Statue of Liberty, passing landmarks like Staten Island, the Williamsberg Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge, the South Street Seaport, and other places. It's not to be missed! more

Great trip 11/9/2005

We're not tourists, but we decided to check out the circle line tour. We went in the evening, so we got to see all of the buildings on the way down, and by the time we made it to the end (by the statue of liberty and brooklyn bridge) eveything was lit up, so it was a completely different, but still incredible, trip back up. I was really impressed with this tour - definitely worth checking out whether you're in the area or not (and would be perfect for out of town guests). Just make sure you go on a nice day. more

Circle Line 9/18/2005

I have always loved sailing in the water and the Circle Line Cruise Line Tours are one of my favorite things to do in the city. There are a bunch of tours from which to choose. "The Beast" is a 30-minute speedboat trip with loud music blasting in the background--probably for the younger crowds. I prefer the relaxing cruise around Manhattan. It's more romantic and peaceful. The best time to ride is at sunset. There is live music and dancing too. Everyone must go. more

Fun touristy thing to do 8/3/2005

Make sure to wear something appropriate on this cruise because there is no heater on the boat. I went in August and was freezing most of the time because it is largely open-air. But I had just arrived in NY and loved seeing lower Manhattan's skyline at night - it is breathtaking. A fun thing to do if you are new to the city or have guests. more
