The bagels are always fresh, as is the coffee. I'm fond of ordering a tomato and cheese on wheat bagel with a cafe au lait and haven't been let down in terms of quality yet!
The staff take there time making sure the order is right and, while they don't rush, it doesn't feel like they are being slow. They also like to play music that ranges from funky to bizarre to pop to I-wish-I-had-this-CD.
The sandwiches are also very good and a whole menu board is given to the vegetarian options. I will say, however, that the goldish paint on red background makes it difficult to read at times.
Bean & Bagels does close fairly early (and isn't open too early, either), so I prefer to go for a weekend breakfast or lunch. They also have sidewalk seating in warm months, but it is practically under the Brown line tracks.
