Amazing Foie Gras & Grouper Cheek 8/5/2008

I loved every bite at this restaurant. For people who really appreciate ""different"" dishes, you will really enjoy the experience. Yes, the tables were close together. I didn't care since the food was so good. We started with ""sippers"" of tomato basil soup topped with Grey Goose vodka - SO GOOD! The Foie Gras on brioche was a great combination of salty & sweet. The grouper cheeks were tender and delicious. The owner was a pleasure to chat with and the view was wonderful. If I am ever back on Longboat, I want to return to this spot! Overpriced Bistro 10/8/2007

I have dined all over the world and would not rate this ""one of the best"" as other reviewers on this website have remarked. Where are they from?? I'm a local, and want my nearby restaurants to make me feel comfortable. The tables are squeezed next to each other (to increase density and profit) and the service was mediocre. Yes, the food is the draw, and yes it was very good, BUT, at these prices, I expect a total positive experience, which was certainly not the case here by either my wife or me. more

I agree with other review. Waitress was rude and snobby. we asked if she would be removed and she was but unfortunaltey she continued to hover over our table and ruined entire experience. Get rid of her!!!! more

inappropriate behavior 8/12/2007

We were seated at the bar waiting for our table. A waitress continually came thru a tiny door behind the bar to smoke with the barkeep. Our table was called and much to our shigrin she followed us to the dining room and she was our waitress. She stank of tobacco, was adjusting our silverware with us knowing she had not stopped to wash her hands. She was wearing a pair of what looked to be old black sweat pants under her apron. Pushy with the service. The food was very good but the waitress Stacy seemed to have quite an attitude. We probably will not return. Rude waitress Tracy 8/7/2007

We enjoyed the food but we were totally turned off by a waitress who was very condescending to us. We have a five star place in Sydney and never would rude Tracy be tolerated. I called to explain what happened and never heard back from owner. WHere are you Mr. Murphy. are you aware of your tyrant? This place has to be one of the finest dining experiences that anyone could want. I have never had anything go wrong here, and I don't say that lightly. There are many cities with allegedly fine restaurants, this one is truly one with outstanding food and professionals who seem to care. Simply the best 1/18/2006

There is no doubt the Beach Bistro is the very best, no matter how well traveled you may be, this place is the true epicurians delight! Everything we have tried thus far on the menu is fantastic. The service is excellent as well. Seafood is fresh, lambchops are ""melt in your mouth"". Wine selection is extensive. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
